Mehrdad Safavian, DDS Dr. Safavian is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned his undergraduate degree from Xavier University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University. Since beginning his practice, Dr. Safavian has placed an emphasis on laser treatment, aesthetic dentistry and oral surgery. He has received awards and certifications for the design and placement of dentures and supported implants, and for creating a high-quality patient experience. Dr. Safavian is an active member of the Ohio Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy & General Dentist and the Columbus Dental Society.
Dr. Safavian enjoys watching soccer, and playing basketball, and is a dedicated supporter of community service, as he serves food at the family shelter. He is also interested in reading and taking nature walks.
Dr. Suh graduated from the University of California, Irvine, as a recipient of Excellence in Research Award. He went on to earn his masters degree in Healthcare Ethics from Creighton University, and Doctor of Dental Medicine from Roseman University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Suh was born into the field of dentistry; his family had worked in the dental lab business for over 40 years in California. He got his first taste of dentistry at the early age of sixteen years old working in the dental lab, and multiple dental offices thereafter.
Recognizing the importance of having not just the hand skills but the highest ethics and moral principles as a doctor, Dr. Suh shared the knowledge from his advanced studies in Healthcare Ethics with first-year dental students and was later recognized by the American Dental Education Association with the Academic Dental Careers Fellowship.
With vast experience in the full scope of general dentistry, Dr. Suh was an enthusiastic participant for two consecutive years at the world class dental continuing education facility, the Pankey Institute. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Columbus Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Christian Medical and Dental Associations.
Dr. Suh currently resides in the Columbus Area with his wife, two sons, and one fur-daughter. When hes not in the office, he enjoys playing on his guitar, building computers, and spending time with his family, especially picking apples and pears.

STAY AWAY. this place tried to charge 650 dollars for a single tooth extraction. They also "lost" our down payment for services for over a week. There are like 40 different people in billing and customer service. The bad reviews are true. Do not trust these people. The dental assistant at the practice we decided to go to after these crooks were aware of the shady practices and shoddy work at Avery Dental. STAY AWAY

Highly recommend!! I had an amazing experience at their Dublin center... Dr Safa and the entire staff is so warm and welcoming. I got the best advice for my teeth from the doc, and the hygienist did a gentle and thorough job... and no salesy push, just professional advice!!!

I am very happy with my experience they got me in for emergency painful situation and took great care of me. Doc was great with me being such a baby. I will continue to go here from now on. Office staff is amazing as well.

I called for a dental impression for a night guard and a replacement for my lost invisalign retainers. I was put on the schedule immediately and they provided excellent service! I highly recommend!

Given all of my medical troubles, this group has been outstanding. Thank goodness for people who know how to work as a team. The dentist is sharp, tech savvy, and willing to work with the patient based on needs: I had so many needs that I thought he would run away on the first appointment, yet he did not. Dr. Safavian was upbeat and shared ideas right away. When he found out my medical concerns, he encouraged me. What more can a patient want? I cannot comment to one or two experiences when they're busy: they have been diligent, attentive to me at my appointments. I am certain that that is their intent always. Suffice to say that I am aware that they are in business and had no expectation that their interest in cost or payments indicated any lack of interest in my well-being. I will stay with this dental group.

Sales, Sales, Sales. They tried to sell me their deep cleaning package for $400.00. They never recommended the insurance-paid cleaning. When I asked for a regular cleaning paid by the insurance company, they asked me to sign a refusal form. Everything is about sales. If you refuse to accept the extra services they push, they will make you feel guilty as heck.

(05-2022l I found Avery Dental and Dr Safa in the fall of 2020 when an old filling broke and it left me with a razor sharp, shark level tooth. Topping off the tooth breaking, it happened on a Saturday. I called and THEY ANSWERED! I was in their office on Wednesday. The approach was for whole-mouth health, though they do let you do just the fix if desired. I have always had a great experience here. Staff is friendly, Docs are on top of it, they multi-task like I've never seen, and I can be my goofy self because they are so genuine! If my post-filling bite feels wrong, I'm able to get in quickly to get a fix. If I have a concern, it's always analyzed. When I asked for nitrous for a root canal (first time, ever, for me), I felt embarrassed! Dr Safa immediately said that's a great idea. I agreed to the fees and it was worth it for nearly 2 hours of work to feel like 20 mins. I don't have enough praise and kind words for this place - I hope to be able to continue coming here for any future visits!

Updating my review. DO NOT use this dental practice. if you are doing a filling especially for those whom has sensitive teeth, DO NOT go there. I had 3 teeth fillings there a week before thanksgiving all done at the same time, ended up not being able to eat any food that requires chewing through thanksgiving. I had to go back at least 3 times to get it fixed, still I could barely chew any food. I gave up after 3 times and went with a dentist in downtown recommended by friends. DO NOT do the teeth whitening there as the staff there had no idea what they were doing. Also this dental office does pressure sales during your consultation, kinda like Times Share sort of sales. They will let you know the procedures u need, and if you pay right then it will be this amount, but if u dont, then it will be a different price. When I had my fillings done there, there was only one dentist whom I believe is the owner that were seeing all the clients at the same time, running from rooms to rooms. I strongly do NOT recommend anyone to use this dental practice. But I highly recommend Angela Gum dental office in downtown, very professional team and the parking is super convenient. They will give you voucher for your parking. It's very difficult to find a good dentist nowadays, that is why I came back to update my review and provide the info of my current dentist who I trust and being with for years now.

I have never reviewed a business before, but I feel that people need to be aware of the inexcusable treatment my husband received today at Avery Dental. Having been diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks ago, it was suggested he get a dental exam to make sure he doesn't have any type of infection in his mouth. His hygienist was pleasant and efficient, however Dr Safa made a very rude and demeaning comment, stating that my husband should have "used better preventive maintenance to avoid cancer, the same way he does for his teeth!" What a horrible thing to say to someone. As if he had some choice in the matter. In all of our interactions with my husband's medical team, he has never had someone say such a thing! This visit also lasted over two hours (not easy when you are feeling sick) and included several HIPPA non-compliant questions by staff about his diagnosis, as well as a high pressure sales pitch to get dental work done right away. He had already told them he would not be able to start any work for several months and he he was simply there for a screening before he starts chemotherapy and radiation next week. The entire experience was very troubling and caused undo stress for us at a time when compassion and understanding would have gone a long way. Needless to say, we will not be returning and I would caution anyone to think twice before visiting to this practice.

Are they competent? Yes. Will they nickel and dime you? Absolutely. Before I even got a teeth cleaning they scheduled a meeting to sell me a gimmick toothbrush and Invisalign. That is a red flag.

You helped calm my anxiety by explaining to me everything that you would be doing step by step. I have a fear of dentist and you truly eased my mind and took excellent care of me today. I live in Dayton and had an impacted molar. To my surprise, nobody in the area could take me in less than three days, wether I had insurance or not! So I started to call one dental office after another, further and further away, until I got Avery Dental in Columbus. I Explained my problem and the recepsionist conferred with the doctor for a bit and they squeezed me in! I was more than happy to drive an hour to get rid of this tooth! Dr. Safavian was happy to help. The staff was excellent and dealt with every possibile hope of paying for an alternative action. In the end we pulled it, everything was done profesionally and with great concern for my well-being. Thank you to Dr. Safavian and the staff! Matt Johnson

I have been going to Dr. Safa for my dental work for a while now. Awesome staff and service. He is very honest as a dentist. I got my Invisalign done, Tongue surgery done, filling done, and deep cleaning done. All these procedures were pain less and relaxing. Recently, I got to meet Selma his wife. She is cool as him to. She is very knowledgeable. They have early appointments. I love them both. Affordable to. They are very friendly. It is my second home. I love seeing Dr. Safa always. He is sweet. He is always smiling and makes it so easier to be in his office getting a procedure. I love Dr Safa. I would highly suggest this place. I wish I can see Dr safa more and get to hangout with him in his dentistry. They are LGBT friendly.

Very, very kind, respectful, considerate dentist! Didn't push or bully me into decisions like some dentists try to do. Extremely kind and understanding, informative and a good listener. Respects patients' concerns and lets them choose options they are comfortable with. Dr Safavian is what every dentist should be like! Went out of his way in bad weather to help me in an emergency situation.
