First visit was fine. Staff was friendly. For the second visit, one of my sons were in need of a filling. His desire to be numbed for the visit was not honored by Dr. Jean Garapoli Wahl (GOT A FILLING ON A MOLAR) He's 12! Before he could answer, the decision was made for him by the dentist. No big deal for her she drills all day! She made it seem like my son was a wimp! He told me that it hurt pretty bad & that he felt really bad pain shooting up to his head...not happy. When I took him back the dentist was confrontational & sarcastic. Didn't even say hi or make small talk which Dr's usually do. She explained that other kids younger than him were worked on without being numbed. She assumed instead of asking & listening to his desire. She focused only on hers. After I stated what I felt she was nothing but sarcastic and smart mouthed. Asked me if I wanted my son to be numbed for this visit, I told her to ask him. She still didn't get it! Acknowledge how your patients feel & what they say! Basically patients become numbers & all are put in a certain category. NOT A GOOD, DESERNING, COMPASSIONATE, SLOW TO ANGER WOMAN/DENTIST. VERY HAUGHTY! I did have to argue in order to get my point across. I was furious! Yet I held back a lot! No parent should have to deal with such service and attitude. Dentist had a major attitude and was on the defensive side the whole time. Overbooked office setting. She looked frazzled! We were nothing but a bother to her! SHE EVEN SAID "LETS HURRY UP AND GET THIS OVER WITH"...hello we can hear you! NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I will be calling the better business bureau and reporting to the insurance company. Can someone explain why the names of the dentist that practice at this office are no where to be found? No business cards with names, nothing. Also no paperwork or written info on visits?

Worst experience ever. The dentist not sure that her deal she did my vanity she took too much been having pain ever since. Then I had a root canal for decade came there fell out the next day I ended up having to get the tooth removed. And they had the nerve to bill me extra for the visit to check the mistake she made. Not sure if the Newark office is different but the Wilmington location speaks for itself. Poor service...The hygienist was nice but sorry never again. The receptionist didn't have a problem speaking in Spanish but right serious and rude otherwise. Sad

This office was almost impossible to reach, and when finally reached the receptionist was rude and short with me. After being told my insurance didn't cover root canals I paid out of pocket, which I ended up finding out was incorrect. The 3 cavities that were addressed were never adjusted properly (after 3 visits, 3 attempts) I chose to cut ties. I've never written a review on anything before, but this service was so dissapointing I felt the need. Do not take your business here.

I moved to Delaware from New Jersey in 2017 and after 3 years I decided to switch to a dentist closer to home. I started going to Avalon Dental in late 2020 and received two cleanings from them with no problem. The first issue started a few months ago when they filled a cavity for my daughter and she started having sensitivity in that area and then the filling fell out later that week. She went back and they filled the cavity again, only for it to fall out a month later, so we decided to go back to our old dentist at Main Street Dental to have the cavity filled. When we visited our old dentist, they told us that Avalon took off too much enamel and missed parts of the cavity. They fixed my daughters cavity and I decided not to go back to Avalon for my next cleaning. When I went for my next cleaning at Main Street Dental, they checked my teeth and asked me when was the last time I got a cleaning from Avalon and I told them May 2021. They advised me that Avalon had not been thoroughly cleaning my teeth over the last year and that they did not do any baseline or under the gum cleaning, which caused a lot of buildup. I knew this was true because when I was getting my teeth cleaned at Avalon, I noticed that they really only used a power brush and didn't really do alot of picking, but I just thought it was because they didn't think I needed it because my teeth were pretty clean. Long story short, I ended up having to get a deeper under the gum cleaning at Main Street that took awhile to do and was alittle uncomfortable. I always get a cleaning every six months to prevent this from happening, but because the cleanings from Avalon were not that good, it kind of set me back. If you are someone who cares about the health of your teeth and wants to best care, I don't recommend using Avalon Dental

Best experience I have ever had with a dentist. I am one of those people that has a lot of anxiety sitting in a dental. They really changed all that. They did incredible work and I would highly recommend using them!

My family and I had our second cleanings here this week. All around we are very pleased with this selection far. Helpful staff, excellent service, and all of my questions were answered. I had the best cleaning of my life on Friday. I would 100% recommend.

Wonderful dental practice. I just visited for my second cleaning last week and was once again impressed with the knowledge of my dentist, Dr. Wahl, friendliness of my hygienist and efficiency of office manager. I will definitely be continuing my care with them.
