Carroll is the first person that youre likely to meet when you arrive at Avalon Dental Spa. Shes Dr. Ricks wife and teammate. with her very caring nature, Carroll will put you at ease right away. What she loves the most is getting to know you and helping your entire family feel welcome and relaxed.
Carroll is super-proud of what the entire Robertson family have created at Avalon Dental Spa. Their mission is to change the way you view a visit to the dentist. The Robertsonshave built a beautiful and tranquil office that so many of our guests call relaxing. From the aroma of candles to the peaceful water fountain to the warm blankets and the truly gentle staff, you will know right away that this place is different.
Their 3 sons, Woody, Ben and AJ, have had a huge part in the design Avalons stunning surroundings. Carroll counts her husband, Rick, as her fourth son, whom she never really wants to grow up!! Originally a teacher, she says, I am still a first grade teacher at heart, so I keep all the cookies on the bottom shelf! , where you will always be able to reach her surprising warmth and comfort.
Carroll is involved in her community. Active in her church, she has taught Sunday School, a Girls Bible Study, VBS and Childrens Church and she loves to sing in the choir. One of her favorite places to be is in the Jail Ministry of Gideons International where she and Dr. Rick have served for the last 37 years. She has fun working with the Chamber of Commerce, and SOMA (Streets of Monticello Association) Design Committee, designing and watering flower pots, decorating the downtown and working on upcoming projects including restoring buildings and open areas. She is a member of Tri Kappa where she helps to raise funds to support charity, education, and culture in White County and also, Riley Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis.
Sydney has been a dental assistant at AVALON Dental Spa for 9 years. I love it! she says. Its the best career choice I ever made! Sydney is Dr. Ricks RIGHT ARM helping him treat patients, doing lab work, and ordering supplies. She is also cross-trained to handle the front desk. She is a JILL of all trades, making things happen as she helps plan activities for AVALONs community involvement, including the IU Health White Memorial Childrens Health Fair, Monticello Bridal Fair, and A Ladies Morning at the SpaPampered, Pink, and Pretty!
She loves Avalon because of the caring nature of everyone on staff. We are a different style of dentistry, within a home-like setting. You walk in to a living room with warm colors, and find a fountain and spa amenities. Best of all, everyone on staff has patient care as their top priority. Sydney is a local girl who grew up in Monticello. Shes been married for seventeen years and is the proud mom of 16-year-old Ben. Sydney is an advisor of the local Boy Scout Troop, where she works with a group of nine 12-year-old boys. She loves to go camping and spend time with her family.
Vickie has been a dental hygienist at Avalon for 2 years. She came to us via a big career change she went back to school when she was 50 and began her five-and-a -half -year trek, first earning a business degree! Then Carroll Robertson (Dr. Ricks wife) told her, I see something special in you Vickie did some research, then went to dental school, and loved it! She says, It was a challenge for me, but at my first clinical, I knew Id made the right choice. Today Vickie says, I love my job! She loves working with people and making them feel better about themselves. She wants to get to know people and if theyre nervous, shes going to talk with them, ask questions, and put them at ease through their whole experience at Avalon. The littlest things make the biggest difference, she says. She prides herself in her gentleness and on the fact that she likes to make the kids laugh!
Vickie has seen people change completely from coming in anxious to completely at ease. We know her empathy and compassion has a lot to do with those transformations! Vickie has taught a group of ladies scrap-booking for the last 18 years. Shes taken them on weekend jaunts to make crafts, Christmas cards, crafts and just have fun! She also enjoys camping with her 4 children and 12 grandchildren, gardening, and spending time with her husband, Ed.
Jessica has been a Dental Hygienist at Avalon Dental Spa for 10 years. She notes that the practice stays on the leading edge technologically, but the thing that sets Avalon Dental Spa apart is the serene and calm atmosphere of the practice. She even calls her treatment room my oasis. Jessica strives to create a relaxed and peaceful experience for all her patients, adults and children. I treat my patients as I would want my own family to be treated. When youre in my chair, I will do my very best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed while I help you reach an optimal level of oral health.
When Jessica is with children, she gets on their level making their dental experience fun, exciting and hands-on. She wants to be sure they know being at the dentist can be great! Jessica has a long commute to the office but she says it is totally worth it. She loves spending time with her husband of 20 years and her two wonderful boys. Her active Cocker Spaniel Winston keeps them all entertained! Jessica loves to walk at the park and relax at home with a good movie. She LOVES her church, where she teaches the womens Sunday School class.
You will meet Susie at the front desk where she is busy greeting everyone as an old friend, all while handling phones, billing and insurance. Susie has been at Avalon Dental Spa for over 30 years, so she knows nearly everybody who comes through the door. She has a tenacious memory and will be the first one to ask after your family or to pick up on a conversation from your last visit. Before long, she will know you too, and consider you a friend.
I love the people, she says. Were just like family here. Susie is married with 4 children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren (with a couple more on the way!) Susie is busy in her church and with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is a local girl who grew up on a farm in rural Carroll County. Susie says her goal is to make you feel welcome, wanted and comfortable. When you call our office, youll probably be able to hear Susies warm welcome even over the phone!
Dr. Ricks mission is to make dentistry a positive experience for everyone, from the very young who are coming to the dentist for the rst time, to people who are looking for an exceptional dental practice to call their own.
You are not just a number at Avalon Dental Spa. Dr. Rick takes as long as it takes to treat you, no rush, no hurry. He desires to be as conservative as possible while creating beautiful smiles. He will address your concerns carefully and thoughtfully. Part of his genius is in his ability to listen to you, hear your questions, and endeavor to explain what hes doing as he does it.
The design found in the Green House by City Park is an indication of Dr. Ricks keen attention to detail. This is also apparent in his pursuit of excellence in orthodontics for over 30 years. His continuing training opens new insights into the connection between proper breathing and normal facial development.
After Dr. Robertson graduated from Purdue University (the school that he holds closest to his heart) with a degree in Biology, he wanted to become a dentist to help people, not to hurt them. Having been admitted a year early to dental school, he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry. His diligent pursuit of orthodontic training with experts from all over the world began in 1986.
Dr. Rick believes everyones time is just as valuable as his. Its about respect for you, your time, your oral health and aesthetic goals, and your childrens needs, too. Whether you are coming in for cosmetic and restorative dentistry, orthodontics, TMJ, sleep apnea, whitening, dentures, or night guards, Dr. Rick will bring his advanced training, expertise, skill and gentleness to your unique situation.
Outside the ofce, Dr. Rick enjoys nature hikes and bird-watching with his wife, Carroll and Wire Fox Terriers, Cap and Carly. His grown sons will often entice him into a game of Ultimate Frisbee or basketball. He also participates in the Monticello Chamber of Commerce, Gideons International Jail Ministry, and his churchs childrens ministry as a teacher. He also lets his hair down as a skit comedian for Vacation Bible School.
Dr. Rick would love for you to visit him and see a dental ofce youve never seen before. But he knows atmosphere is only part of it. He looks forward to having you be greeted as someone special, to feel cared for, and be treated by unhurried, compassionate professionals who are doing their very best to improve your oral health and give you the most relaxing and restorative dental experience possible.

I love the care I always receive at Avalon Dental Spa. Dr. Rick is knowledgeable, kind and professional. The hygienist, Vicki, is gentle and thorough. I always walk away with a sparkling smile!

Absolutely fantastic people. My 84 year old widowed mom goes there..They give her 50% off to help widows finances. Not only that but a staff member walked my mom to her car just to make sure she would be okay. I don't think it's possible to find that kind of customer service at very many establishment's in today's business environment..A BIG YES TO SUPPORTING SMALL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS! The Avalon Dental Spa takes such good care of me and my family. They provide amazing care of our teeth and dental concerns with professionalism and kindness! Not only do they make sure we are healthy and handle all our insurance items, they care about who we are as individuals and they take the time to get to know us, work around our crazy schedules, and provide us with a true spa experience during our cleanings! Recently, I had a cleaning appointment and had to bring along my 2 grandkids and they set them up with a little picnic of donuts & apple slices on the floor beside me along with toys to keep them busy! It was over and beyond care for us! I 100% recommend the Avalon family for your family!

Avalon dental spa is amazing! Anytime I go there they make me feel like family, and they understand that patients can be nervous or anxious, like myself. Each staff member makes a great effort to make me feel comfortable and safe in their hands. I LOVE THEM! and have no desire to go anywhere else for my dental needs!

I love Avalon Dental Spa. The people are so kind, caring and gentle. Add to that the relaxing atmosphere and a trip to the dentist is actually enjoyable. Your visit, at this point, begins with you being greeted at the door with a smile as you are brought into a beautifully decorated waiting area (Though I've never spent much time waiting there). From the treatment rooms, you can watch birdfeeders loaded with a variety of birds and beautiful plants. A fountain in the hall way burbles in the background. Nature videos and calming music play overhead. In the winter you are offered a warmed blanket and paraffin wrap for your hands. A drop (or 2 or 3) of lavender oil on the bib is the final touch for guaranteed relaxation. Now if I could only figure out a way to schedule an appointment every time I have a tough day!

Carrol , the boss at Avalon, is an extremely caring and thoughtful person. From my personal experience, people with sincerity and kindness are an endanger species, especially in doctors and lawyers offices. We were great friends for a while but then I felt I had no other option but to POSTPONE an appointment a few hours before it was scheduled! I know, I know, it's shameful and embarrassing but I am going to pray she finds the compassion to forgive me one day for my treachery. See you soon, Zack

The name says it all Avalon Dental Spa is a true spa like atmosphere I've never experienced. From the soft soothing music to the relaxing sounds of the water falls. From the moment you walk in you see a beautifully well done interior design that should be in better homes and garden s. The staff is like no other they make me feel like family and not just a patient. One Friday after school my seven year old daughter asked me when Monday would be. I said in three days why?? She says, "I can't wait for Monday to be here!" I'm thinking what is going on Monday? I could not think of anything. I asked her why she was excited about Monday... she yells, "Because I get to go to the dentist!! I love going to the dentist!!" I just love that my daughter counts down the days until she can go to our dentist! They make it such a special event for her every time she has an appointment.

Avalon is so much more than just another Dental office. Everyone is so professional but at the same time compassionate, helpful in getting things done quickly, but most of all you walk into that door you instantly have to smile. No matter how bad you may feel everyone at Avalon has a way to make you feel awesome. With all this going for them they also have all the modern topnotch equipment plus Dr. Rick the one that gets it done. Dr. Rick is great with everyone from kids to old senior citizens like myself. So no need to go anywhere else provide yourself and your families an experience of a lifetime stop in and meet everyone you will not regret it. Everyone at Avalon is just like family and be prepared to smile even if you arrive grouchy LOL
