I was raised here in Houston and have seen this great city blossom into the diverse metropolis it is today. After graduating high school, I traveled out-of-state for college and dental school. Yet throughout my many travels, my love for Houston endured and I ultimately realized my career and my family would find its home here again.

It was my personal experiences with my family dentist in Houston that inspired me to pursue a career as a dentist. Unfortunately, I soon realized the landscape of dentistry had changed since I left Houston. Insurance companies and the costs of modern dental treatment had squeezed out the neighborhood dentist.

Yet through my experiences in dentistry, I still believe that patient care and education can co-exist with modern dental treatment. In fact, I believe the recent advances in dentistry put a premium on patient education and follow-up, the guiding principles of old-fashioned dentistry.

It was with this goal in mind that I created the Guiding Principles that my practice was founded on. Interestingly by practicing these Principles, I discovered the next generation of dental patients. Patients that value a long-term relationship with their dental team, that value knowledge to help them prevent oral diseases such as cavities, and respect the value of their good oral health. I also discovered these patients have become friends over time which has made being a dentist very rewarding for me.

Dr. Shinoy Abraham was born and raised in Houston, TX. During his undergraduate studies at Houston Baptist University, he was also a dental assistant for Healthcare for the Homeless Houston. This clinic catered to the underserved community in Downtown Houston. It was there he felt his calling was to serve others through the field of dentistry.

After completing undergrad, he felt it was time to see life outside the city. This took him to Utah, where he attended Roseman University College of Dental Medicine to achieve his goal of becoming a dentist. Hiking and skiing became his new hobbies. In addition to enjoying the great outdoors, he was also able to work in the underserved populations in local community health clinics throughout Utah as well as an Indian Health Service clinic in Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Dr. Abraham strives to be a lifelong learner through continuing education courses in all facets of dentistry. His current focuses are cosmetic and implant dentistry. His goal as a dental provider is to create trustworthy relationships through patient education and to exceed his patients expectation and experience.

Dr. Abraham is Invisalign certified and also a member of several professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Greater Houston Dental Society.

Dr. Seo first encountered dentistry when she worked as a dental assistant during her undergraduate years. She received her Master of Biomedical Sciences at Rutgers School of Graduate Studies in NJ, then ultimately earned Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Seo continued to broaden her clinical knowledge and skills as a dental resident at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, NY.

Dr. Seo moved to Houston in 2017 and has been practicing dentistry to provide quality comprehensive care with the latest technologies. She routinely participates in continuing education to maintain progressive skills in general dentistry. Dr. Seo is a member of various professional dental organizations including American Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society. Dr. Seos passion is to help patients have pleasant dental experiences with her gentle but effective approaches.

Dr. Dar is a native of Spring, Texas. He attended Klein High School and went to college at Southern Methodist University on a scholastic scholarship where he earned a B.S. in Biology. He then went on to earn his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. He graduated in the top 15% of his class on the Deans honor list. Dr. Dar received numerous awards in Dental School including the prestigious American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Award, Southwest Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Award and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Award.

After completing his dental degree, Dr. Dar received his medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York. He completed a year of General Surgery training and a six-year residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at North Shore-LIJ in New York. During his residency, he obtained extensive training in Craniofacial Surgery, Orthognathic Surgery, Cleft Lip/Cleft Palate repair, Facial Trauma, Facial Reconstruction, Facial Cosmetic Surgery, Head and Neck Pathology, TMJ Surgery and Dental Implants.

Dr. Yu grew up here in Houston and graduated from Alief Hastings H.S. Afterwards he chose to expand his horizons and received his BA in the History of Art from the University of Michigan, followed by a Masters in Human Physiology at Georgetown University then ultimately his DDS from the University of Michigan again. Dr. Yu is credentialed by International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Also as a published biochemistry researcher, Dr. Yu brings many years of scientific training and expertise with his unique artistic background to the benefit of Avalon Dentals patient family.

After his training, Dr. Yu returned to Houston and settled down to raise his family and start his dental practice in Sugar Land. Relying on his faith and professional ethics, he decided to bring his vision of a dental practice that provides the most advanced and proven dental care with the trust and relationships of the small town neighborhood dentist to his community. Over the years, Dr. Yu and Avalon Dental has provided this comprehensive and compassionate care to thousands of loyal neighbors and friends that comprise our patient family.

When not caring for and sharing a laugh with his patients, Dr. Yu can be found around town trying out new and tasty restaurants and spending time traveling with his family or chanting Go Blue! while watching his Michigan Wolverines play.

Nicole grew up in Pearland and completed her degree in Marketing at Texas A&M University. She is a proud Aggie (WHOOP!), a wife and mother to three children. She is passionate about supporting and growing the Avalon brand through exceptional, one of a kind patient experiences. Nicole enjoys cooking, traveling and creating memories with her family.

Kortney grew up in Michigan and, like Dr. Yu, is a Michigan Wolverine. Kortneys passion in dentistry is in helping our patients prevent dental problems through education and prevention. Although shes new to Houston, Kortney is fast becoming a Houstonian by experiencing the city with her friends and her wiener dog. Go Blue!

Abbey was born and raised in Wharton,Texas. She has always been passionate about oral health. For as long as she can remember she wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. She graduated from WCJC Dental Hygiene Program in Wharton to make her dream a reality. She and her husband Marvin have a daughter, Emmy Lu. They also have a timber wolf named Rambo. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends. She also enjoys the outdoors, boating on the river and spending time on the coast in Matagorda or Sargent. Abbys hobbies are cooking and taking care of her flower beds.

From Warton, Texas, Jessica loves to spend time with her husband and her two children. Shopping is another favorite pastime. Jessica entered the dental field because it has a lot to offer. She enjoys the challenges it provides along with the many ways she can grow and learn. Even though she has always wanted to work as a radiologist, her heart is in dentistry. Jessica loves meeting and getting to know new people. Her hobbies include traveling the world and going out to eat with family.

Mykie grew up in the surrounding Houston and Sugar Land areas. She prides herself on being Alief Alumni but was originally born in Kingston, Jamaica. Mykie joined the field of dentistry over 20 years ago and has gained a strong knowledge over the administration side of the business and truly loves the reward of patient satisfaction. She enjoys dancing, decorating, and gardening. In her free time she especially loves quality time with her family, and dinners out with her girlfriends.

Annie was born in Colorado, but has been an honorary Texan since she was just 10 months old. She happened into the dental field after she went in for a dental check-up and was hired on the spot. Since then, she has fallen in love with the field. With her Bachelors in Healthcare Administration, she aims to provide the best patient care she can. When she is not chasing after her rambunctious toddler (which is just about always) she enjoys going to the dog park with her dog Lucy, reading, writing, and hanging out with friends and family.

Andrea was born and raised in Houston,Texas. she has two children who keep her on her toes from morning until night. She has been in the dental field.for 10 years. She enjoys helping people achieve their dental goals. In her free time, she likes watching True Crime Documentaries.

Mindy grew up in Dallas but after almost 20 years she calls Sugar Land home. Her education at Baylor and her decades of work experience in customer relations helped prepare Mindy to serve as our patients advocate to maintaining a healthy smile. In her free time, she devotes her time to raising a family and traveling.
