After receiving his Bachelors degree in Biology and Chemistry in 1993 he obtained his Dental degree with clinical honors from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Ofir continues to take courses in advanced dental technology and is an expert in the placement of immediate dental implants, Invisalign and the Six-Months-Smile technique.
Dr. Singh grew up in New York City. He graduated from The Institute of Dental Studies and Technologies, India in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Dental Surgery. Having gained some work experience, he moved to Boston, where he pursued his DMD degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Singh actively participates in continuing education so that he can provide an exceptional dental experience with the latest techniques and technologies. He currently serves as an adviser for the Tufts Aesthetics Society, which he founded in his final year of dental school. It is his belief that patient education is necessary for a beautiful and healthy smile.
Dr. Elmekkawi is a dentist in Avalon Dental Somerville.Hegraduated as a dentist with honors from Mansoura University, Egypt, Class of 2008. He also completed post-graduate studies in Oral Surgery at Cairo University, Egypt, He contentedly worked at his familys dental clinic for years. After moving to USA, He pursued Masters Degree in Public Health from Nova South Eastern University, Florida and DMD Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
He always seeks clinical excellence and relaxed dental experience for his patients. During his free time, Dr. EL. enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Their leisure activities include fishing, swimming and watching sports especially Celtics, Patriots, and Liverpool. He also loves to travel and enjoys eating out at various local restaurants and is always looking for recommendations!

These guys are awesome! The hygienist is the best! Gentle, professional, and so friendly! I like going to Avalon Dental Clinic in Somerville with my wife. We are always there for our annual teeth cleaning!

I just had a double root canal they did a superb job with the dental assistant Santiago who is so kind and professional. My dentist is very knowledgeable and did an amazing job. I'm also a dental assistant so I myself can spot a good dentist and I highly recommend this practice.

This visit was my first since the Covid disaster. Fortunately, I had Shannon Flynn-James to do the job. I am telling you I never had my mouth that clean. She is knowledgeable, funny, compassionate, and caring. I believe from now then, she is the only one I would want to clean my mouth. Thank you Shannon for taking good care of your clients.

Went in today for a cleaning. Been coming to this place for years I go to the Somerville location.. Today I had Shannon Flynn-James , and I must say she was amazing. Down to how gentle she was with my cleaning, listening to whatever problems I had, and being very informative. Also, she was very funny and I had great conversation with her. Would definitely recommend Shannon and Avalon dental to anyone.

Finished my deep cleaning this past Tuesday. My appointment was at 11. I forget the hygienists name but she did an amazingly thorough job. She is the blonde with blue eyes. I would recommend her to anyone interested in a cleaning!

My first dental visit since COVID! They were able to get me in very quickly, and actually added me to a cancellation spot so I was seen even sooner! They accept MassHealth. Shannon was wonderful: funny and to the point. My mouth was in bad shape, but she never made me feel ashamed of it while still helping me know what I need to improve my oral health. Definitely switching from my prior dentist to Avalon after this visit.

Facilities are clean, staff is friendly. I'm very afraid of the dentist but Dr. L put me at ease. He did work on my teeth and I felt no pain. Dr. L is the best.

Original was told it would cost $85 to come in get a cleaning but I was then suggested to get an x ray for an additional $100 which I was okay with knowing I needed one because my wisdom tooth is coming in. The price was not an issue at all, it was an issue that all I got was the dentist to put his finger in my mouth press on my tooth then order my X-ray and disappear just for the assistant to be the one to diagnose me then send me on my way. The whole structure was very unprofessional and I didn't even get a cleaning which is what I requested to being with. I was told that was an additional price for a cleaning and that $85 price quote originally given for the cleaning then turned into a diagnosis fee which you would think would be included with me getting a $100 x-ray. Mind you the doctor never came back in the room to explain what needs to be done or read the scans to me . The assistant was the one to say it'll be $300 to extract the tooth which is recommended and tried to proceed to book this appointment THE SAME DAY. Why am I paying additional for the assistant to tell me that I need an extraction? Even after speaking to the owner he wasn't making sense and out of frustration I payed $185 to be told what I already knew and not even get a basic cleaning. Mind you a cleaning is all I wanted but at that point I just wanted to leave cause the whole environment was unprofessional and seemed like a HUGE SCAM they are not there to be doctors just steal your money. Also, the only good thing about that place was the front desk staff and the assistant because they were clearly just following the orders of the doctor and owner so I respect them for being professional and doing there jobs.

I had to get a root canal and came to this dental office in Somerville to get a second opinion and I am glad I did. The price for a root canal was cheaper than another dentist quoted me and Dr Ofir is very patient and very thorough. I highly recommend this dentist in Somerville.

Dr. Chen and Dr. Ofir are an Amazing Dentists, They have a great knowledge. Dr. Chen did my dad cleaning and a crown. He felt no pain or even discomfort. He is taking care Of every detail. Best dentists and prices in the town.

So yesterday was my very first time coming to this office, my insurance had changed so I had to find a new dentist. I had no clue what to expect! First off, everyone there was so nice, and they had a sick early 90's-ish rom-com-like playlist in the background! Like Celine Dion type stuff! I told them I was looking to get my top wisdom teeth taken out at some point and a few other things. Dr. Chen looked at my teeth and they said they could extract them that day, which I was NOT expecting......I am not good with needles or any type of surgery but I decided I just wanted them out before Summer. Dr. Chen and his assistant did such a GREAT job at making me feel comfortable and joking with me to relieve my stress. PLUS he let me wear my headphones for music during the extraction. No joke, I put on 'My Own Worst Enemy' by Lit (some great late 90's jams), and by the time the song was even over, my teeth were out. No pain!! Now it's the day after and I have little to no pain, just a bit of pressure. Thank you to everyone and Dr. Chen for making surgery "enjoyable"....never thought I would EVER say that! Very happy with my new dentist! Great job and highly recommend!
