A native Texan, Dr. Brian J. Peters was born and raised in Houston. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in biology. He then attended the prestigious Ivy League Columbia School of Dental Medicine in New York where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Peters spent three years as a dentist in the United States Army with assignments in South Carolina, South Korea and Louisiana. After serving his country, Dr. Peters studied orthodontics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York and received a certificate in orthodontics. Dr. Peters is now an orthodontist in Austin and limits his practice for childrens orthodontic, teen orthodontic and adult orthodontic treatments.
Dr. Peters is an Invisalign certified provider and stays current in all of the latest orthodontic techniques. His affiliations include the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists and the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Peters is an Austin orthodontist who cherishes the ability to provide people with healthy and beautiful smiles that will last a lifetime.
Dr. Hengameh Motevasel earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from Indiana UniversityPurdue University Indianapolis. Following this, she attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, as well as numerous academic accolades. Afterwards, she practiced as a general dentist for two years, which helped her appreciate all different aspects of dentistry. Dr. Motevasel has always been passionate about orthodontics and creating beautiful smiles, so she decided to specialize in this field of dentistry. She earned her Master of Science degree and certification in orthodontics from the Indiana University Department of Orthodontics and Oral Facial Genetics.
Dr. Motevasel is an active member of American Dental Association and American Association of Orthodontists. In her free time, Dr. Motevasel enjoys kayaking, biking and hiking around Austin. She likes traveling, meeting new people and loves the diverse culture of the city.
As a former UT alumnus, Dr. Samantha Farr is thrilled to be back in Austin! She graduated from the University of Texas UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston in 2019 and earned her certificate in orthodontics from the Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics in Jacksonville, Florida. Although she enjoyed Florida, she could not wait to move back to Texas. She still had to convince her husband to move here, however, so she took him to eat breakfast tacos, and the rest is history!
In her spare time, Dr. Farr loves to watch football (Hook em!), work out, travel, and go out to eat sushi or tacos any day of the week. She is excited to be part of the team and to be with her new Austin family!

After not wearing my retainer from adolescent braces, I decided I needed a slight adjustment and got invisalign through Austin Family Orthodontics. When Dr. Jen was there, my treatment was on track and my daughter also successfully completed her treatment with no issue. Once Dr. Jen left on maternity leave or for whatever reason, the office was full of young adults, orthodontist included, who focused more on discussing their weekend plans vs patient treatment. I brought up my concern with the new dentist and the techs, but was told that I had beautiful teeth and that they did not see a problem, mind you that my teeth look almost the exact same as when I went in for treatment over 2 years ago. The issue was slight from the beginning, however if I am paying thousands of dollars for braces, I expect the result that I am paying for. I plan to go get a scan and 2nd opinion just so Austin Family Orthodontics can see their error in judgment. There is no reason that I should have had invisalign this long for a slight adjustment that still isn't fixed smh.

Recently relocated, daughter needs a retainer for college, made an appointment, 2 weeks later. Called the day of and told me that they will only do this if I agree to purchase braces again. They never even looked at her. Remember mechanics that would cut your belts? Welcome to Texas!

Both children have treatment here and prices are very reasonable. Was a couple of times wait time almost an hour They should fit the appliance they provide you the in office (Reverse Pull Headgear) because it made a second trip where we couldn't adjust it properly at home. They tried to tell me that part was not adjustable but I happen to know it was because my child had same treatment out of state. Just sharing so other parents know to get it adjusted in the office Otherwise, friendly staff and glad they have availability on Fridays.

Like Dr Travis and his wife. but Amanda at front desk has no people skills Rude!! It starts with front desk need to get better front desk staff !! Wouldn't recommend.

Just a little over 2 years ago, I brought my daughter to AFO for braces. My daughter was very nervous about coming here but just after the first visit, we were very confident in knowing that she was in good hands. The staff here is super friendly, highly professional and extremely accommodating, willing to work with your needs if flexibility is required. AFO has done a beautiful job on my daughter's teeth. There were no complications throughout the process and she is happy with the services received. This is a family friendly establishment and you will see families enjoy bringing their children. I could not recommend a better Orthodontist who remains patient with children (and adults). If you don't have any children, it's okay. As an adult, AFO will go above and beyond to take care of your needs. Guaranteed!
