Aura Marcela Torres was born in Villavicencio, Colombia and attended San Martin University in Bogot, graduating with honors in Dental Medicine in 1988. After moving to the U.S. in 1990, she continued her studies in general and restorative dentistry, earning her license to practice dentistry in California in 1994. Dr. Torres worked three years as an associate with a specialist in pediatric dentistry and ran the University of California Santa Cruz Dental Clinic for five years. Professional memberships include ADA (American Dental Association), CDA (California Dental Association) and MBDS (Monterey Bay Dental Society).
In my practice, we combine a strong sense of business professionalism with warmth and personal caring. My husband, Guido Diaz, manages the business. Guido and I travel frequently to Mexico to do charity dental work; our business also has a legacy of donating dental equipment to charitable organizations in the U.S. and South America.
We have three beautiful children, Nicole, Natalie and Nohora, who are proud of their parents for helping others, just as I was proud of my own grandfather. Our family is extremely important to us, and so are our patients. This sense of personal connection combined with professionalism is one of the many ways that our practice is unique.
It is so rewarding to be able to help people, whether giving relief from a painful tooth or improving someones smile. Im concerned about my patients as people as well as clients. And I care about each one.
Most of our business, including many seniors, students and families, comes from referrals. Were delighted with the fact that our patients appreciate us so well that they tell their family and friends. We welcome you to our family of patients!
Dr. Choy was born and raised in Santa Cruz. She attended Branciforte Middle School and Harbor High School. For undergraduate school, she studied biology at UC Santa Cruz, where she was a Regents Scholar. In her 3rd year at UCSC, she decided to pursue dentistry and was accepted into UC San Francisco School of Dentistry. She was class president in her 4th year of dental school and was active in multiple dental associations throughout the 4 years.
Upon graduation from UC San Francisco, Dr. Choy entered a general practice residency program in Fresno where she gained 2 extra years of clinical experience at the VA hospitals dental clinic and at the Community Medical Center Dental Clinic. She served as chief resident during her 2nd year.
Dr. Choy married during residency, and lived and practiced dentistry in the South Bay for several years following that. Recently, she has moved back to her beloved hometown of Santa Cruz with her wonderful husband and 2 children. In her free time, Dr. Angie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, singing karaoke, arts and crafts, and strolling West Cliff.

I think I have already left a great review of this office but I just had to come back and say I just had the most efficient, kind, pain free experience this morning. Wow. I cannot recommend them enough.

Refused to work with my insurance after doing work I didn't agree to the cost out of pocket. Only to have the work she did, redone by another dentist. Terrible arrive unless your a rich yuppy

It has been almost 10 years since I meet with Dr Aura Marcela Torres, and personally I consider her more than my professional dentist my friend, however She and her staff are very professional and all I have to say now is, I am very glad having them as my dentist taking care team, they are awesome!!!

Dr. Torres is absolutely amazing! She always makes you feel so comfortable in the chair and you can just feel how strong her knowledge of dentistry is in the way she easily and confidently performs any treatment. My entire family is so thankful we found her and are now being treated by her and her team.

ive been a patient of dr torres for at least 15 years. shes always there for me in my hour of need. when I chew gum and pull off my crown. shes met me early in the morning to fix it. I feel like I can always depend on her. shes the sweetest. her staff is wonderful. so professional yet caring. im not going anywhere shell be my dentist till she retires.
