Dr. Atwood is a caring and empathetic professional who has a passion for helping others and creating new smiles. He has the ability to bring a unique perspective to treating his patients due to his additional education and training as a Prosthodontist (A dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of teeth). This advanced understanding is a result of three additional years of training that allow Prosthodontists to approach situations with a special vision and perspective completely unique from a general dentist.
Dr. Atwood grew up in Price, UT at the feet of his father who was a Dentist. This is where he developed a love for dentistry at a young age. Later, he did his four years of undergraduate work in Human Development at The University of Utah. In 2008, he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree after four years at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and was elected #1 in clinic for his class. Immediately following dental school, he entered the Wilford Hall Prosthodontics residency program at Lackland Air Force Base. During his three-year prosthodontic residency beyond dental school, Dr. Atwood focused on comprehensive oral reconstruction and received extensive training in dental implants, removable prostheses (dentures and partials) and conventional fixed prostheses (crowns and bridges). During residency, Dr. Atwood was trained in all aspects of dental laboratory work and fabricated his own dentures and partials from start to finish for his patients. This valuable laboratory training was key in helping him to customize each prosthesis in-office and monitor the work that returns from his dental labs. This additional customization ability and quality assurance review is why Dr. Atwood is able to provide the level of excellence that his patients deserve.
In 2011, he graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center with a masters degree in Biomedical Sciences and from the residency, receiving a certificate of completion in prosthodontics. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists. He and his family were then stationed at Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany for three years.

It is so difficult to find a specialist who knows what they're doing- at least that is what I experienced prior to meeting Dr. Atwood. I went to a non-specialized cosmetic dentist for full top row crowns. I was in a lot of pain daily and couldn't figure out why. Dr. Atwood worked efficiently and patiently to correct issues of placement with the prior crowns and made me an entire new set. I haven't been an easy patient- I metabolize lidocaine too quickly and he has to work super fast to get the job done- he has had to work outside of the box for my unique issues and truly has done a fantastic job at it. He and his team have saved me from ever increasing bone loss and tons of pain. My former crowns were coming loose for no reason and my life revolved around pain until this office resolved it for me. As a public figure, it is so important for me to resolve my dental issues. When thousands of people see your smile daily, it matters. Former dentistry had caused ongoing damage for me that was only worsening. Dr. Atwood went out of his way working with a local endodontist to help her remove my temporary crowns when my root damage required additional root canals right in the middle of his treatment plan. He drove across town to her office and showed her how to remove the temporary teeth and how to put them back on. I'd recommend that anyone reading this know two things- 1) If you want implants or restorative dentistry of any kind, see a specialist and choose THIS specialist; 2) This dentist is acclimatized to unusual situations and will work very hard to get the job done perfectly and comfortably, even if you're a tough case. His entire team show profound compassion, precision, visionary thinking and ethics. I'll post a photo soon when my permanent crowns are complete.

He explained things well, and clearly had pride in the quality of his work. I feel confident that he is the dentist who will best help me resolve my dental issues, and needs.

Doctor Jake and his entire team have outstanding personalities and made me feel very welcome from the first time I entered their very clean & comfortable facility. As a new client of prosthodontics and Dr. Jake's methods; I was so very satisfied with his level of informative evaluation of my needs, (i.e., explaining my dental needs, the process by which we would achieve my goals, and why he goes about completing our goals in the order in which he does), his professionalism, and ability to do exactly what he says he will do exactly when he says he will do it. My medical procedures were by no means pleasant; oral extractions and subsequent dental procedures are painful. However, my overall experience toward receiving the beautiful--perfectly straight glisteningly white--smile that I have today was made infinitely more tolerable by including Jake Atwood and his team as the leader of my dental care! I highly recommend Dr. Jake Atwood DMD MS to my friends and family.
