My philosophy stems from my belief in minimally invasive dental treatment. This is accomplished by saving tooth structure, patient education, and prevention through early detection. I want patients to understand my approach to their individualized treatment.
We embrace advanced technology and strive to continue our own dental and medical education. Some of these technologies that we incorporate are the Biolase laser (to cut and complete minimally invasive teeth preparations), air abrasion, digital radiographs, and oral cancer screening tools through cameras and other diagnostic tools.
We focus on patient education where our patient can make informed decisions on their own treatment goals. We also incorporate magnification loupes along with intraoral cameras. We consider Invisalign a vital product for minor teeth movement. Our use of Biolase laser and air abrasion technology allows us to treat children without dental injection. Dr. Attars experience and confidence with children has come from his many years of work at the Children Infant Welfare Society of Chicago and Oak Park.
His current rank is Commander 05. As a Navy Dental Officer, he is charged with responsibility for Virtual Detachment, Expeditionary Medicine Great Lakes. His duties include assisting sailors to complete their active duty training, and for facilitating their training, travel and other logistics.He has served at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, Kauai Innovative Readiness Training, and Lovell Federal Base at the Naval Station, Great Lakes. Dr. Attar has completed several field exercises including most recently Northern Lights in Northern WI.
Dr. Michael Harada grew up in the Chicagoland area. He attended Chicago Public Schools and graduated in 1970 from New Trier West High School. In 1986 he joined his father, Dr. Masaro Harada, D.D.S., University of Illinois, class of 1957, in his Morton Grove office. Later, both moved in 1989 to Glenview where they practiced until Dr. Masaro Harada retired in 1998. The office has been taking care of families for 50 years. It remains a small, modern practice devoted to developing trust and confidence of patients in the community based on personal dental care.
In addition to graduating from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Harada also earned a graduate biology degree from Northeastern Illinois University and earned a bachelors degree from Ripon College, Wisconsin. After finishing dental school, he volunteered for the U.S. Navy as a dentist and was stationed for three years at Camp Pendleton, CA. He was awarded the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon and Achievement Medal while on active duty.
After the service, he was selected as one of two residents at Evanston Hospitals General Practice Residency Program. He is currently on staff at Evanston and Glenbrook Hospital and volunteers as an attending staff with their dental residency program.
Dr. Harada maintains his continuing education by attending courses in Illinois and around the country. He is an alumnus of the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida and the Peter Dawson seminars in St. Petersburg, Florida. In response to taking continuing education, Dr. Harada earned an Academy of General Dentistry Fellowship, after completion of many hours of continuing education and by examination. The award represents constant learning and dedication to the profession of dentistry.
Dr. Harada has been a volunteer CPR instructor with the American Heart Association since 1978. In 2016 Dr. Harada was nominated into the dental honor society, American College of Dentists. He is married to the lovely Yvonne and has two daughters, Dana and Emily. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, finding self-awareness, reading, visiting libraries, and swimming. He is a member of Kiwanis and is involved with Victories of the Heart.

Dr Attar and his staff are extremely professional, responsive and very compassionate. Dr Attar and his staff ALWAYS take great care in my comfort during procedures, Dr Attar conscientiously asks about my comfort and pain level during any exam or procedure. I recently had a dental emergency and they made accomodations for my situation and made it possible for me to be seen the same day. Dr. Attar has always shown me a high level of integrity. I feel he is very sensitive to a person's finances and only recommends what is necessary to correct any issues and ensure a patients ongoing dental health. He listens to my questions patiently and thoroughly. He explains all the options available and the reason behind his professional opinion on what is best for me, as his patient, on the best way to move forward. Unlike many other Dr's I have had in my 60 years, Dr. Attar takes the approach of partnering with his patients in their dental health as opposed to taking the attitude of "As the doctor, this is the best and only way because I say it is" I would and I HAVE highly recommended Dr, Attars practice to family, friends and acquaintances.
