Dr. Matt Herring loves his home state of Arizona and is excited to be in the San Tan Valley. One of his favorite things about being a pediatric dentist is interacting with his patients. He is committed to helping them achieve their best oral health in a fun, relaxing environment, which typically includes singing, laughing, and fun scrub tops.
After receiving his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University - Idaho, Dr. Matt attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine for his doctoral degree. He also completed his two-year postdoctoral residency in pediatric dentistry at the same school. Dr. Matt is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD), meaning he is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist.
He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA), the Central Arizona Dental Society (CADS), and the Arizona Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AzAPD). He maintains his certification in both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
He has a conservative approach towards dentistry and prefers to retain as much of the original tooth structure as possible. His top priorities are keeping his patients safe, helping them to have a good experience, and finding the best solutions for their dental needs.
He currently lives in Gilbert with his wife and their four children. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys biking, Legos, Star Wars, singing, and learning how to do new things. He speaks English and Japanese.

Ponica has been working in the dental field since 2007 and, more specifically, in the pediatric dental field since 2013. She is extremely knowledgeable and is happy to answer questions. Her goal is to help kids forget theyre in a dental office so that they can relax and enjoy their time with our team. She loves to make every childs experience at the dentist the best it can be.
Katelyn was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, but has lived in has lived in Arizona majority of her life. She graduated from American Institute of Dental Assisting shortly after starting her externship at our office and has been a part of our team since. Her passion is working with kids to make them feel comfortable and safe in the dental chair while educating them on importance of good oral health.
Atlas Pediatric Dental Care is geared toward children and their needs. We use instruments and equipment made specifically for children of various sizes and ages, including infants. In addition, our friendly team is reassuring for even the most nervous patients and their parents, making a visit to the dentist a positive experience.
One of Dr. Matts favorite aspects of pediatric dentistry is interacting with his patients. He loves taking time to visit with them and get to know their interests, many of which he shares. Since he is a big fan of superheroes, Star Wars, Disney (yes, the princesses, too!), Legos, Pokmon, music, kids movies, and many other topics, he always finds something in common with his patients and can put them at ease. Plus, he usually wears fun character scrub tops, which has brought a smile to more than one anxious child. He is a big kid at heart and a geek in many ways.
Dr. Matt is passionate about helping children overcome their fear of the dental setting. He especially loves being able to tailor each childs experience in the dental chair to his or her specific needs. Although he prefers not to use sedatives unless necessary, he recognizes that some children require additional methods to alleviate their fear or anxiety. He has had significant training in the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious sedation and IV sedation, and will use the appropriate method when a childs needs require it. Dr. Matt will always ensure that his patients are treated in a safe, comfortable manner. He is certified in both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and his staff is trained in CPR.

I took my 3 year old daughter in today and she loved it....what kid likes the dentist?! This is by far the sweetest dental offices ever! Every single person was so kind and not one person was at all judgmental. In fact, they were all very down to earth and very reassuring. The assistant, Doctor and front desk were 10/10. If your child is special needs, they do not accommodate nor offer emergency appnts. Scheduling is anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks out and my children have been going there 2 years now. Took 3 months for my son to have a procedure. Thats how booked up the office is even for established patients. The office manager is extremely condescending and will laugh at you and make snide comment to you over the phone all while smiling thru the conversation. She has no care for patients. Dr Matt is great but if hes going to continue w Ponica as an office manager, im afraid ill be taking all 3 pf my children elsewhere where they do consider special needs children.

Finally found an awesome pediatric dentist, and so close to home. Was impressed by the super nice and helpful staff, clean and cute decor and the professionalism. Doctor was amazing with my little two year old and can't wait to bring my other child here as well. I highly recommend this office, beyond happy.

I absolutely love bringing my children here. Staff are so kind, professional, and communicate everything so perfectly. The office is always clean and welcoming, the kids love the movies playing on the ceiling while they get their teeth cleaned. I will be bringing my kids here until they are too old lol

Dr.Herring and his staff were absolutely exceptional! Definitely the place for your children. The atmosphere and the overall environment was so great! They were all so lovely. The staff made my kids feel comfortable and welcome. Their nervousness went away as soon as they got there because of the way they welcomed them. Dr.Herring sang to my shy daughter to make her feel better and it was just such a great experience. I would refer and stay here as long as this place has open doors. Come here you will not regret it!

Dr. Matthew saw two of my children today and he was exceptional. He was VERY friendly and relatable to my children, the office is clean, awesome with all the legos everywhere, and I absolutely love that they have private rooms for each patient compared to other practices that have a large shared area. HIGHLY recommend!! When we have struggled to find a great dentist, we are happy we found him! Did I mention they do not make you wait past your appointment time?! :D

They try to pull teeth that have no business being removed. Baby teeth do not need to be pulled they fall on their own. I cannot believe the lenght these people make up lies to get to fear and scam scared parents and children. "Your 8yo has a calcified root it can't fall on it's own"... A calcified root on an 8 years old? Thank God these people aren't general practitioner. They'd diagnose Alzeihmer on babies ha ha

We just moved here and had an dental emergency with our 4 year old son. It was a Saturday morning. It is hard to find Pediatirc dentists open on a Saturday morning. Dr Matt went above and beyond to help our family. He was so professional, fun, attentive, gentle but quick. I am so impressed with his ability he had to help my son feel safe and taken care of. I highly recommend him! Thanks for just doing what you love and blessing lives. It was unfortunate to have an emergency but glad we found a great pediatric dentist out of the stressful scary day.

Our family absolutely loves Dr. Matt Herring and his practice, Atlas Pediatric Dental! He's taken such wonderful care of my four kids and there is truly no other dentist that I would trust. Dr. Matt is the best there in his field and his level of expertise is invaluable. He puts his patient's best interests and wellbeing as his top priority. I always know that my children are in the best of hands when they're under his care. Dr. Matt has been there for our kids any time that they have had a dental emergency and we always know that we can trust his recommendations. His approach to any treatment is strictly based on what is truly the best for the patient, and never includes unnecessary costly procedures or services. Without hesitation, Dr. Matt has gone above and beyond to be available when any dental emergency occurs and that speaks volumes. When you take your children to see Dr. Matt, you can expect that he will consider your child's treatment with the same level of care that he would consider for his own children.
