Commissioned in 1997 as a Dental Officer in the United States Air Force, Dr. Cantwell cared for military families and retirees while stationed both home and abroad and was awarded several military decorations. In 2001, Dr. Cantwell was awarded Dental Officer of the Year for all of the United States Air Force in Europe.
Dr. Cantwell is an active member of the American Dental Association. After hundreds of hours of post-graduate study and testing, Dr. Cantwell was awarded the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry certification (FAGD), fewer than 5% of all dentists nationally hold this credential.
He is an experienced dental implant surgeon, a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, awarded Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), Member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and Graduate of The Misch Implant Residency with training in advanced bone grafting, sinus lifts and dental implant surgery. He is an instructor for 3DII Implant Institute; teaching advanced implant surgery to dentists from around the world.
Dr. Cantwell is also one of a small percentage of dentists who have completed postgraduate training at one of the worlds premiere continuing dental education institutes, The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. He is one of only three dentists in all of Idaho to hold this distinction. The comprehensive examination you receive in this office will probably be unlike any you have received before.
Dr. Cantwell is married with five children from ages 9 to 20 years. Their nicknames are Buddy, Gus, Shark-Bait, Peaches, and Boo. Dr. Cantwell enjoys golf, all things Roman History, scuba diving, backpacking, reading, target shooting, and above all: goofing off with five wonderful squirmy kids who always beg him to tickle them (although now they have the upper hand and gang up on him).

After a decade of pain and discomfort from previous dental work, and a very misaligned bite issue, Dr. Cantwell and staff have patiently listened, diagnosed, and corrected problems. My life is so much better! Thanks to all.

I have been coming to Atlantis Dental Care for 3 years now and I absolutely love it! I always look forward to my regular visits that are affordable and leave me feeling great about my teeth. Everyone in the office is super friendly and they are flexible with scheduling appointments!

Went to Dr. Cantwell being referred by a friend. Just a great experience! The staff is very nice! The doctor spent time with me, explained things well and took the time for my concerns. I am very pleased with the whole experience and highly recommend him!

Leave with a smile, end up with a frown after the billing department screws you. Late last year, right before Christmas, i had some tooth sensation. I thought i better get that checked out. I payed this place a visit seeing it's across the street from us. We live in the legends subdivision. I go in, and the doc says i need a crown. Ok. No biggie. I was in no immediate pain, so we deferred work for a few days. They had my insurance info from the get go. I ask on the way out, "how much is my out of pocket?" The receptionist/insurance specialist says, "its this much." Cool, i think. I'll be back. I come back a few days later and get the work done. No complaints on the work. Two weeks later, a bill shows up. $500ISH BUCKS!!! There must be a mistake! My wife and i call and speak to the office manager. She says there is nothing she can do. WOW. Come to find out, our insurance wanted me to wait until the following year before they would cover me. TWO WEEKS. Again, no pain. I was being proactive on the procedure. This office never contacted my insurance prior. Thats the point. If they would have, we all would have known this and we would have waited two weeks. I'm sorry, but if you are in the buisness of insurance, you should probably do your job and call the insurance company... People, dont be fooled with the pretty office. Behind the counter is incompetent staff that will cost you in the long run. We argued several times with the office before being sent to collections. Awesome. Cant wait to tell all my friends, family and neighbors! Beware!!!

Best dental office in Treasure Valley Everyone at Atlantis Dental is wonderful. I've had great experiences there. The entire staff is friendly and helpful and Dr. Cantwell is very knowledgeable and caring. They're very considerate and go out of their way to make sure you're well taken care of. Appreciate their excellence, highly recommend.

Excellent care, excellent service, excellent staff. I've been a very happy patient for years, and I'm always impressed by the care and treatment I've gotten from everyone here. Even when my self-care isn't at my best, I never feel shamed or judged. They are always happy to answer all of my questions and educate me on great techniques to simplify my routines. I love that they treat my children so gently, and talk to them through each part of their treatments so they're confident about their progress and not surprised or scared of anything to come.

This place is the best! The receptionist was very fun and easy to work with, the hygenist that cleaned my teeth did a great job and was very nice! Dr. Cantwell was amazing at explaining whats going on with my teeth and formulating a plan on exactly how we would take care of it. I reccommend Atlantis Dental Care 100%!

My first visit. The entire staff and Dr. Cantrell were very friendly, skilled, and professional. It was me that might have been a bit crabby...I just never enjoy a dental procedure. They did their best to make it as pleasant as possible. Thanks. This will be my new dentist. : D -_-_-_-_-_ Update I was back again today several years after this first post above. Again, I still don't love any kind of dental procedure, but still believe this is the best place around with highly professional and friendly people. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cantwell since 2020, and he and his entire staff have taken such good care of me. I've seen them for regular visits and Bioclear treatment--I am so happy with my results! In addition to being friendly and hospitable, their services are the highest quality. They make each visit comfortable and easy. As soon as you get in from the outside, the front office employees welcome you with a big hello and a smile on their faces. The entire office is very friendly and warm. Dr. Dave Cantwell is funny hilarious and put you at ease. He is very gentil and very competent in his line of work which is a major plus for me because of bad childhood memories that I experienced following a dentist appointment :( Thank you Atlantis Dental Care for being so amazing!
