Dr. Markus P. Heyder is a native of Currituck County, NC.He received his Bachelor of Science from Wake Forest University and his DDS Degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill.

Dr. Heyder has a passion for complex oral implant rehabilitation and is dedicated to continuously furthering his education and bringing the latest dental implant techniques to Northeastern North Carolina. He has completed advanced programs in dental implant placement and restoration, advanced bone grafting techniques, computer aided implant rehabilitation, restoration programs and sleep apnea appliances.

He is committed to bringing the best dental services to the people of the Outer Banks and NE North Carolina. Dr. Gunther Heyder is a practicing dentist in the OuterBanks, North Carolina area. He is a native of Currituck County, NC where hewas born and raised. Dr. Heyder is a proud graduate of North Carolina StateUniversity, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, andthe University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.

Throughout his studies, Dr. Heyder took advantage of multiple opportunitiesto study and volunteer in Africa. His experiences in Ghana, Malawi, and Togoinspired him to establish A Reason To Smile, a dental volunteer charity, towork towards improving the dental health of communities across the Africancontinent. Dr. Gunther Heyder is a proud member of the American DentalAssociation andNorth Carolina Dental Society.

I am a practicing dentist located on the Outer Banks. I was born and raised in Franklin which is located in western North Carolina. My interest in dentistry began when I was a teenager. After almost three years in braces, I developed a friendly relationship with my orthodontist. I loved going to his office to shadow him as he interacted with his patients. I was captivated seeing the transformation that teens were going through and how the end results positively influenced them beyond their physical smiles.

As an undergraduate, I attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington to earn a Bachelors degree in Biology. Wanting to pursue a career in dentistry, I joined pre-dental clubs and volunteered my time at the Mission of Mercy clinics held throughout North Carolina.

As a graduate student, I attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. I am a proud member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry.

Another passion that I have is for my family. I am a newlywed and my husband Bryan, is very important to me. He always brings a smile to my face and continues to be my biggest cheerleader. Also, I have an amazing identical twin sister who is an optometrist. On the weekends, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and this beautiful island.

I am a Certified Dental Assistant with 17 years of experience. I worked for a Periodontist for 7 years and have spent the rest of my career in reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry. I enjoy my position with Atlantic Dentistry as I am constantly challenged in the day to day situation that dentistry presents. I am originally from central New Jersey, but relocated to the Outer Banks in 2007. Away from the practice, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my four children and husband.

Originally from Long Acre, a small town just outside of Plymouth NC, I moved to Manteo, NC around the end of May last year. I reside there with two of my favorite men, my fianc and my little dog, Grady. I enjoy walks and bike rides through Manteo, boating, fishing, andgardening. I spend most of my time with family and friends while constantly finding time to accomplish the odds and ends of remodeling our home. Not to mention the new task of planning a wedding!

After starting a job in September 2010 working for an Orthodontics office in Washington NC, I quickly realized how Dentistry became my career. I have enjoyed every aspect of Dentistry in the past three years and have been blessed with the continued education I receive every day. Coming to Atlantic Dentistry with most of my Dental experience in Orthodontics helped me appreciate the excellent Dentists I work with and what great work they do, not only restoring teeth but in the cosmetics of a smile. After joining the staff of Atlantic Dentistry on April 1, 2013, I finally feel at home.

Originally from Germany I have spent the past 10 years in Northern Virginia. There I started working as a dental assistant 5 years ago. Away from the office I enjoy spending time with my husband, traveling and being outdoors.

A native of eastern North Carolina who grew up in Virginia I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree; concentration in Dental Hygiene. Shortly after college I applied for a work visa that took me to Switzerland. I lived, worked, traveled, and skied in Europe for one year. Shortly after I returned I moved to the Outer Banks in 1985 and have worked for Atlantic Dentistry for the last four years. I am married to Rick Mizelle a CPA and Managing Partner with Johnson, Burgess, Mizelle, Straub. We have one daughter, Nevin, who is a rising Junior at Savannah College of Art and Design, SCAD, majoring in graphic design. Residing at home are 2 dogs .... Ziggy, a Bostan Terrier, and Lily Chanel, the diva Chihuahua. I still love to snow ski when I can. I am passionate about women's health, nutrition, and exercise. Oh yes .... and loves to dance!

I grew up in Northern Va and lived in Corolla every summer since 1986 at my parent's beach house. I started dentistry in 1996, as an assistant in Pediatric Dentistry in Mclean, VA. I then went to dental hygiene school and graduated from Northern Va community college in 2003, winning the Golden scalar award for best overall dental hygienist. I moved to the OBX permanently in 2003 upon graduation.

I have had the pleasure of working for Atlantic Dentistry since we opened in 2005. I now reside in Kill Devil Hills with my husband Shaun and 2 sons, Christian 19 and Fletcher 5 as well as our golden retriever, Kalani. In my free time I love going to the beach with my family. My love for helping others is why I pride myself as a hygienist. 'Making people feel comfortable and overcome their fear of the dentist is my greatest joy!'
