Dr. Cheryl Cushman grew up near Detroit, Michigan. She attended The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, receiving a Bachelor of ScienceDegree in Biology. She completed her dental training at Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in 1988. Dr. Cushman then moved to Atlanta for an advanced General Practice Residency training program at Emory University and the Veteran 's Administration Hospital.She practiced for two years as a general dentist in Mariettabefore deciding to further her education. Dr. Cushman received a certificate in the Specialty of Periodontics at The Medical College of Georgia in 1993 and opened her periodontal practice that year. She has been an Associate Professor at The Medical College of Georgia 's Graduate Periodontal Program since 1995. Dr. Cushman served as the President of The Georgia Society of Periodontists from 2004 to -2006 and is a member of the prestigious Hinman Dental Society in Atlanta. Her professional colleagues have voted Dr. Cushman as one of 'Atlanta 's Top Dentists' in 2009 thru present.

In her spare time, Dr. Cushman enjoys working out, reading, cooking, travel, and spending time with her family.Dr. Cushman is married to William 'Clay' Cushman, a history teacher and coach at Woodward Academy. Their son, Mead, is a Senior in high school at Woodward Academy and plays Varsity Soccer team. Dr. Cushman is a firm believer in humane animal treatment and has rescued numerous animals over the last 20 years. She currently has three cats and two dogs.

For over 20 years, Dr. Cushman has continued her education with advanced training in dental implants and the latest periodontal treatment modalities. She and her staff feel it is important to offer a relaxed, caring environment while providing the best periodontal care for each individual patient.

Aneen grew up in Douglas County and is proud to call it her home. She has over30 years experience in the dental field. Aneen has worked at Atlanta West Periodontics since January 2006. She brings a smiling face and a caring attitude to our office. She is an expert in her field and works closely with each patient to optimize their dental insurance benefits and their medical spending accounts. She wants to make sure that each of our patients can receive the necessary treatment to provide optimal oral health without creating a financial burden. We are very fortunate to have Aneen in our practice. She says, 'Working here is like being with family'. Aneen has two children. Her daughter is an art teacher and expecting her first child. Aneen 's son completed a tour in Afghanistan with the US Army and is in the Army Reserve. Aneen enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and creating works of art with stained glass.

Cindy is our receptionist and scheduling coordinator. She was born and raised in New Jersey, but has been in Georgia since 1981. Cindy has over 23 years experience in dentistry and joined the dental staff at Atlanta West Periodontics in January 2011. She provides a warm smile and a friendly welcome when you arrive at Atlanta West Periodontics. Cindy has two daughters and four grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They ride their four-wheelers and gather fresh eggs from their chickens. Cindy enjoys relaxing on the beach and riding motorcycles with her husband. Her Chihuahua dog is a frequent passenger on the Harley.

Debbie Harper was born in South Georgia and raised in Douglasville. She became interested in dentistry while working with the Red Cross. After many years at SunTrust Bank, she was able to fulfill her dream and graduated from Advanced Career Training in July 2006. She joined our practice as an extern in 2006 and worked her way up to lead assistant. Debbie states,' I love working with the patients and staff because I know we are helping peoplebecome healthy'. She can be counted on to makeeach patient feel welcome, safe, and comfortable.Debbie is married with three children and nine grandchildren. She enjoys camping, fishing, cooking, and travel.

Penny is originally from the great state of Texas. She has been a dental hygienist for over 10 years. Penny works at a regular dentist's office during the week and joins us every Friday. She has been here at Atlanta West Periodontics for two years. Penny is a very thorough and gentle hygienist She will assist you in keeping your mouth healthy with a thorough cleaning and excellent tips on home oral hygiene. We are glad she is a member of our staff and hope you are too.
