Dr. Helen Cheng is committed to practicing comprehensive dentistry with kindness and care, and brings over 25 years of experience in the field. She is a believer in preventive care and total wellness through patient education. With her many years of dental science training and clinical experience, she provides the highest standard of care in cosmetic dentistry, root canal treatment, crowns, dentures, implant dentistry and dental extractions.
Dr. Cheng received her DDS and masters in oral medicine at one of Chinas top dental schools, Jiaotong University School of Stomatology in Shanghai. She completed postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina, and after numerous publications there she went on to the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her DMD. She moved to the Atlanta area in 2008 and started Atlanta Family Dentistry shortly after.
Dr. Lily Liu welcomes patients regardless of whether they love or hate going to the dentist. Whether youre embarrassed of your smile or are a dedicated brusher and flosser, she would be delighted to meet you. She enjoys helping people of all backgrounds, especially those with a history of dental anxiety, become happy and healthy patients.
Dr. Liu earned her B.S. in Biomedical Science at The Ohio State University. She completed her DMD at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and went on to complete the NYU Langone Health Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Fenway Health. Afterward, she worked for several years in the greater Boston area before moving to Atlanta. She is certified in Invisalign and SureSmile clear aligner therapy.
While at Harvard, her work developing a student dental clinic for low-income children earned her membership in the Paul Ambrose Scholars Program as well as the Harvard Community Service Award. She speaks Spanish, Mandarin, and Portuguese. She lives in Marietta with her husband and 2 children, and enjoys doing calligraphy and hiking in her free time.
Charlotte is the first friendly face youll see when you come into our office. She was originally born in Chicago, but grew up in Kentucky as part of a military family. She completed her dental assistant training at the Everest Institute in 2007 and now primarily manages our front desk. She is an insurance expert and will help you make sure you get every dollar from your benefits. Her favorite part of her job is making a difference in peoples smiles. In her spare time, she loves hanging out with her husband and kids, who are 7, 6, and 1 and going out with friends.
Ambra moved to the Atlanta area from her hometown of Boynton Beach, Florida. She has been with Atlanta Family Dentistry for 6 years and is a graduate of the Georgia Medical Institute school of dental assisting. She loves seeing the look on patients faces when they see their new teeth in the mirror for the first time. She is a rockstar clinical assistant who helps all our treatments run smoothly and keeps all our clinic spotless and organized. She most enjoys assisting for surgeries and helping patients with emergencies. In her free time, she loves napping, eating Italian food, and spending time with her 12 year old daughter and her baby son, born October 2019.
Olympia moved to the Atlanta area from Tallahassee, Florida. She received her associates in dental assisting from Fortis College and continuously strives to keep learning to be a better and better assistant. She loves the passion of our team as we work together to help our patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles. Olympia enjoys spending time with her heart and joy, her 5-year-old son Josiah. They have a Pomeranian named Ms. Foxy and a Yorkshire Terrier named Shiloh. Olympia likes walking trails, exploring nature, playing basketball with Josiah, and reading.

Atlanta Family Dentistry is the place to go for any dental needs! Dr. Cheng and her staff are wonderful! I was referred by a coworker. For anyone like me who has dental anxiety and just scared to go to the dentist I'm thankful I took my coworker's advice. Dr. Cheng and her entire staff made me feel special and comfortable soon as I arrived. From the receptionist desk to all the dental technicians. Dr. Cheng took my exray and went over what I needed to have done. I knew my teeth needed much needed work and I kept putting it off. Dr. Cheng performed a root canal and a tooth extraction. Needless to say I felt NO PAIN! Everything went smooth! So take it from me someone who has dental anxiety this is the dentist you want! I highly recommend Atlanta Family Dentistry!

The young lady handling the appointments is extremely rude and unprofessional. I just cancelled my next appointment with them because I refuse to spend my hard-earned money with a business that lacks basic professionalism. To the lady answering the phone can potentially hurt your business if her attitude does not improve. Thanks!

I love the Atlanta Family Dentist! She has very professional staff and there is never a wait. They have the patience's scheduled in a great flow. When you walk-in the previous patient is leaving. By the time you check in they are calling you back and the tool has been cleaned and they are placing new covers on everything. The most understanding dentist ever. It is also evident that she cares about her staff, as well. I have been seeing her for years and I will continue. I drive from Atlanta to Smyrna to see her for my dental care. If I could give the more stars I would!

From the moment I entered the door I was greeted with a warm welcome by the assistants Ambra and Charlotte. My appointment was at 2 o'clock PM by 2:05 I was already Called to the back to be seen by Dr.chang The professionalism That she takes to see a patient is beyond measures. I love that when you're in her care she is always being polite and asking you are you OK? Today my confidence level of my teeth struck me to a 10 I'm so enthusiastic that i can't stop looking in the mirror lamira she did an exquisite job. Man where do I start first visit coming 40 mins away. I did paperwork online came in and was in the back in less than 3 mins . Front and back office staff was amazing very knowledgeable on my treatment plan and insurance. I am so blessed to have found them definitely worth every minute of my drive. This is absolutely by far the BEST DENTAL OFFICE that I've ever been to!!! My whole family comes here! But today this review is specifically for PATRICIA! My goodness, she was amazing! She has over 20 years of experience and it shows! I had to have a deep cleaning done and she was extremely compassionate and professional! She made me feel comfortable and even called me two hours later to check on me! Thanks Patricia for going over and beyond for me today!

I changed insurance, and I had to leave my long-time dentist. I found Atlanta Family Dentistry during my search, and I'm so glad I did! My hygienist Patricia is so charismatic and very knowledgeable. My teeth felt brand new when I walked out of the office. Dr. Lily Liu spent more time with me than any dentist ever has, and we went over all of my concerns and referrals together. I will be recommending AFD to everyone I can!

So I'll tell my encounter piece by piece .... The outside isn't the best looking but the inside is pretty nice and very clean from what I saw .... However I'm huge on customer service , feeling wanted as a customer and feeling safe. I recently was in a bad accident and don't have the physical ability to travel far and this was super close to the battery so I wanted to give it a try Also I am in my very first pregnancy, 18 weeks and this said it was a "family dentistry". If you're pregnant you're dealing with what I'm dealing with , extra buildup and hassle with so many products not being safe for baby. So immediately going in I asked for a cleaning and the secretary started setting everything up ... she asked for my insurance and I told her I had a pregnancy insurance to cover my pregnancy health care needs . They didn't take my insurance which wasn't a huge problem , just inconvenient. Then she told me for a cleaning would be $300 dollars ... now I spent 40k on cosmetic work on my teeth so honestly I kindve know dental prices by heart. That was high in my opinion and when I asked why , she said because I needed an X ray and exam . I told her I was pregnant and she basically told me to go somewhere else and I couldn't get a cleaning without the entire package. Everyone knows pregnant women can't get x rays . Also she assumed I didn't have any dental history to give her because she let me know they can't service me without doing the X ray and exam. By the way she told me they couldn't service me after they didn't take my insurance, I had to ask her for a rate ... I don't like feeling like I'm begging for a service and no matter what I say you can't serve me . I'm not an inconvenience when I'm paying you ..I just had a cleaning less than 6 months ago and I've always paid out of pocket for dental care , never had insurance ... anyways I'm being very nice about how I'm describing this encounter , the lady was rude and unprofessional and I waited a couple days to think about it instead of telling a million of my followers on social media ... anyways this place may be good for some people but if you're PREGNANT this is not the place for you ... my pregnancy wasn't even acknowledged In giving me care and I was basically turned away as soon as they didn't take my insurance... maybe assumed I couldn't pay for the service ... I won't be back and I'll be letting my friends know not to visit !

This dentist office is the absolute BEST!!!! Dan took excellent care of me! I had a little bit of anxiety initially, but he was super nice and compassionate! He made me feel REALLY at ease! Then Dr. Cheng came in and was absolutely amazing as well. The entire staff was pleasant and professional...Amber was too sweet (The Receptionist). I was in AND out by the way! Thanks so much Dan!

Absolutely wonderful experience!! The staff was so pleasant; they went above an beyond to ensure I was comfortable! They helped me plan out what I needed done so it went along with my insurance, as well as, making sure my future procedures would be as comfortable as possible. I normally HATE the dentist but this was by far the BEST experience I've ever had with one and I'm actually (for once) looking forward to getting what I need done, done. Thank you!!
