After receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1980 from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, Dr. Ross Atkinson continued his education at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry, achieving a Masters of Science degree and specialty degree in Periodontics in 1982. He then completed an extensive two-year program in implant dentistry at the renowned Misch Implant Institute (Pittsburgh). On an ongoing basis, he furthers his understanding and skills in dentistry through completion of advanced courses.
He has held numerous consecutive terms as President of the Arkansas Society of Periodontists and has achieved Fellowship status in the International Congress of Oral Implantology and is also an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Central District Dental Society, Arkansas State Dental Association and Garland County Dental Society.
Dr. Atkinson is a frequent speaker to dental professionals and the public on topics involving Dental Implants and Periodontics. He is supported by staff members who share a compatible commitment to the highest level of patient care. Dr. Ross Atkinson is truly an oral scientist. His calming demeanor and superlative communication skills will not leave any of your oral concerns unanswered. His dedication is clearly unparalleled to anything I have ever witnessed. His wonderful assistant, Mrs. Carol Joe's benevolent demeanor and attention to detail moved me so much I will never forget her. After she took my x-rays, she then guided me to the room where Dr. Atkinson would speak with me. She never left the room, like most assistants do, returning only when the Doctor calls for them... Noooo! She sat right next to me and explained my x-rays in full detail, the challenges with my periodontal disease, and possible treatments in my dental implant journey. Then she sat right next to Dr. Atkinson and shared her diagnosis with the doctor in full detail, it was like having two periodontists in the same room. I also cannot forget the front desk office manager. I never got her name, but she was fast, courteous, and very welcoming. Due to high Covid-19 rates back in 2020, I did not seek medical attention for my teeth for fears of contracting it and compromising the health of one of my 7 children, ages 2-13. I did not have an appointment that day and had never used their services before, but I shared with her my concerns and she scheduled me in an hour after I spoke to her. I would highly recommend Dr. Atkinson to anyone who is seriously thinking about implants and overall oral health. Dr. Atkinson and his team are the best in Hot Springs, Arkansas. God Bless You All!

Outstanding service and experience! Even though I went through a usually pain experience, the pain (minimal), attention to detail, and educating me about the process were unexpected and appreciated. The staff followed up with me and checked on my progress often. For me, no other periodontist could have done a better job and the staff was perfect!!!!!

This is June 2021 - and I { Lana } am Happy to share my story. I had lost ALL FAITH in Dentistry. The bridge I had/HAVE: Which by the way is the THIRD one in the same spot was quite painful... It Hurt, I have not ever been able to chew/eat on that side of my mouth in over 10 Years! After the Third NEW BRIDGE { This is the Same Area } - I gave up. I just seen no Reason to have a Fourth New Bridge. When 3 have not worked. Then, I quit Going to any DDS. However in April of 2021 the bridge was so Sensitive that I could not even drink cool water. Long Story short here: Dr Ross has now Restored my Faith in Dentistry! I can eat NOW - he and his staff were SO Wonderful, Loving, Kind, Helpful all during my procedure of getting my bite fixed. THEY CARE - THEY LISTEN - They are TOP OF THE LINE - Highly Professional Clinicians. Down to earth Good People. I Was Petrified of a DRILL - but Even that issue was addressed and SOLVED - due to Dr. Ross being so Loving and Gentle. GO HERE Folks - you Will Not Be Sorry - Got a Problem - Call Dr Ross and He and His Staff WILL Take care of your Problem ! Guaranteed...

I highly recommend anyone that needs dental work done to go to Dr. Atkinson. I am very impressed with the staff. My dental experience was highly professional and also personal. Dr. Atkinson's office cares about their patients. My only regret is I did did not go to him years ago!

I had a very positive experience with Dr Atkinson and his staff. They are ALL very sincere about protecting from Covid. This made me relaxed right away. I feel Dr. Atkinson shared my desire to keep the teeth that were involved. After a thorough discussion of my Xrays, he laid out my choices and he let me decide. I liked getting all the information. I think my procedure went very well. I recommend this office.

Dr. Ross did not take care of my problem with my gums. Never gave me a definitive answer as to what was wrong. Only bled my insurance dry. Lesson learned.
