Athens Oral Surgery Center - Oral surgeon in Watkinsville, GA

At Athens Oral Surgery Center, we are dedicated to providing excellence in oral surgical care. Every decision we make and each interaction we have is based upon the principles of integrity and respect. We strive to stay on the cutting edge of technology and seek to incorporate innovative techniques into our procedures. We believe that every patient should receive personalized care by a knowledgeable, compassionate, and understanding staff.

Athens Oral Surgery Center was founded in September of 2011 when Dr. Tomlinson took over the practice of much-beloved oral surgeon, Dr. Stephen Fennell. Dr. Tomlinson immediately began redeveloping the practice to reflect his passions and goals. Since adopting new leadership, Athens Oral Surgery Center has seen a tremendous growth in the number of patients coming in for care as more and more patients recommend the practice to family and friends.

Dr. Tomlinsons unique background and training set him apart as an oral surgeon in Athens and northeast Georgia. Not only is Dr. Tomlinson a supremely qualified Dentist, graduating at the top of his class from Boston University School of Dental Medicine, he is also a certified Medical Doctor graduating from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Tomlinsons medical degree truly sets him apart from other oral surgeons in the state of Georgia, as the majority do not hold dual degrees in medicine and dentistry.

A native of St. Cloud, MN, Dr. Jonathan Tomlinson spent his childhood and adolescence in the wintery states of Minnesota, Michigan, and New York. After completing his undergraduate degrees, Dr. Tomlinson went on to graduate top of his class in dental school and continued on to receive his medical degree and his advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr.Tomlinson is expert in his profession. I have seen him upon three occasions and found him to be what one would expect in an oral surgeon. His anesthetic skill is outstanding; his results are exemplary. As a physician myself, I can recognize his expertise and skillful manners.

Dr. Tomlinson was excellent and thorough in his explaining the process and post op care for my moms surgery. I can't recommend him enough. The office is brand new, so very clean and beautifully decorated with HGTV going in the background.

Dr. Tomlinson and the entire team at AOSC are all fantastic. They go above and beyond to provide a great experience while delivering excellent care. I can't say enough about the level of care and service that we've received for my daughter during multiple visits. Dr. Tomlinson takes the time to answer all questions, explain procedures and what to expect during and after, and ensures that parents and patients all feel at ease. Scheduling has been convenient, and during this time that we all face the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, their team always made us feel safe and secure while visiting both the Athens and Watkinsville locations.

I have had oral surgery services provided by Dr. Tomlinson on two occasions, once in 2017 and once yesterday at this time. Never a pleasant thought to consider. That said, I wish to report that I have had no pain whatsoever, and I feel that the procedures reflected the top of the line care in dental surgery. Dr. Tomlinson is a highly competent oral surgeon. I was treated professionally and kindly by everyone from the beginning to the end of this "adventure." I am so thankful and grateful to live in a community with this caliber of professional.

Wonderful doctor and staff. My daughter's wisdom teeth removal was much easier than I imagined, and so was her recovery. We would definitely recommend Dr. Tomlinson.

I've called to set up appointments NUMEROUS times and that took between 2-3 months . I'll continue to call and they will answer and hang up like that's not good service at all. I was referred my by dentist and it's crazy because they have not shown one ounce of decency . Just crazy to keep ignoring patients or people who just need care.

It's been a year since I had my wisdom teeth removed. Everything seemed and everyone was nice initially. I was told there might be a possibility of my jaw being numb weeks after the surgery. 5 weeks after the surgery I had no feeling in my tongue and couldn't taste anything. Then I was told it usually takes 6-9 weeks for all sensation to be back. After 9 weeks I was told it could take 6-9 months and that someone would call and check on me then. No one did. Here it is a year later and no better. It's just like any other business get you in , get paid buh bye.

Was a great experience initially, but after my wisdom teeth were removed I continued experiencing severe pain that kept me from even working for three weeks.(being a truck driver trying to drive in that condition would be very bad for public and personal safety) I requested another appointment thinking it must be just taking a while to heal since the tooth in question was fairly badly impacted and unable to erupt. I was never told if bone was removed to access the tooth. The girls at the front are stellar and they seemed very interested in seeing me better. When I arrived and told the doctor he looked in my mouth for about a minute, told me everything looks good and that it must be the second molar adjacent to the impacted tooth that's been killing me, not the removed one. I tried to ask if they can't even give me a prescription for stronger pain medicine since 800 mg of ibuprofin twice a day had done nothing for me, but he'd already turned the corner and left me at the counter. Total visit time was less than 3 minutes to be brushed off feeling no more secure and still in pain. Made an appointment with another dental practice and hoping for the best.
