Dr. Harmon grew up in Marietta, GA and knew from an early age that she wanted to be a dentist. After graduating with highest honors from Georgia Tech, Dr. Harmon attended the Medical College of Georgia. It was here that Dr. Harmon realized how rewarding it was to work with children and to guide them in developing healthy dental habits. Dr. Harmon completed a 2 year post doctoral residency program in pediatric dentistry at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, where she trained in orofacial trauma, treating children with special medical needs and restorative and prevention practices.
her under-graduate work at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She attended the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Dr. Owensby worked with Dr. Samuel K. Thomason in Commerce, Georgia, immediately after graduation. She has recently been practicing with Children's Dentistry of Gainesville. She is certified in basic life support and holds a Georgia Dental License. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association.
She then studied dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia, receiving her DMD in 2007. Dr Shaw completed an additional two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at MCG and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
What drew Dr Shaw to pediatric dentistry is its focus on prevention and education. As a parent herself, Dr Shaw understands the importance of treating every child with care and compassion. Dr Shaw also has special interest in treating children with special healthcare needs, including those with craniofacial disorders.

We had a great experience with my 2 year old and 4 year old! The hygienists did an incredible job. No tears! Dr. Harmon is extremely knowledgeable and explained things clearly.

Used them for an emergency with my son, the receptionist was so kind during my moment of panic and he was worked in & the entire staff, especially Dr.Shaw, was so friendly and empathetic for my nerves and my injured LO.

This was my first visit to this location and I was very happy with the care. They were able to handle issues they found during routine cleanings the same day, such as a tooth pulling and small fillings. This really helped me since it's so hard to coordinate multiple appointments.

My son has always been afraid to go to the dentist. The entire staff was so helpful and kind to myself and my son. The dental assistant, hygienist and Dentist were so patient, understanding and really made my son build trust with them all. He got the chance to watch Toy Story 3 while sitting back getting his teeth cleaned and having X-rays. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Athens Dentistry For Children!!!

Dr. Harmon is the kindest, most patient pediatric dentist! It's rare to find someone who balances a sweet personality with excellent clinical and communication skills. I'd trust her with my entire family, if only she'd see adults too!!
