Athens Dental Associates was established by Dr. Charles Carter in 1976 with the vision of providing the best care possible in a warm, friendly, and safe environment, with an emphasis on quality work that will last a lifetime. He has successfully served the Athens area for over 40 years and counting through building a foundation of trust that isnt just about dentistry. Life transitions lead Dr. Charles Carter to meet Dr. Ashley Hill in 2019. It was immediately apparent that their dental philosophies and standards of care were most aligned.
Dr. Ashley Hill had always dreamed of owning her own practice in an area that holds such a special place in her heart. For generations, Athens has played an important role in her familys lives and after 10 years of working as an Associate Dentist, she knew this was the perfect place where she could make her dreams become reality.
When she graduated from the University of Georgia, Dr. Ashley Hill knew eternally that it wasnt goodbye, but a see you later for Athens. She couldnt be happier to serve this wonderful community of intellectuals and professionals while continuing Dr. Charles Carters legacy.

Dr. Charles J. Carter has been practicing dentistry in our area for over 42 years. He graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee-Memphis in September of 1970, and prior to that, he received a Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University, where he majored in Chemistry and English.
Dr. Carter continues his education every year with at least 20 hours of additional training, the majority of which has an emphasis on implant therapy and prosthetics. He has advanced training in CEREC same-day crown technology, which allows him to make dental crowns and dental veneers in-house for better control over their aesthetics and function. Dr. Carter is part of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
He has been married to his wife, Marty Carter, for the last 50 years, and together they have two adult daughters, three granddaughters and one 6-year-old Labradoodle, Bella. His hobbies include organic gardening, taking care of his blueberry orchard, fishing, painting and reading.
