I have been working as a registered dental hygienist for AFO for over 20 years. I am married and live on Long Island with my wonderful husband and my three beautiful kids. When Im not helping to create beautiful smiles at AFO I enjoy vacationing, shopping and watching my kids play sports.
Johanna has been working with AFO for over 10 years. She enjoys coming into work and being able to serve our patients and address all of their needs. Seeing them walk out satisfied with our service really makes her day! Her days usually start with a nice BIG cup of coffee :). This is her fuel to jump start her day and help her get through any obstacle thats put in my way.
Priscilla has been in the dental field for over 10 years. What she loves about working at AFO the most is the diversity of our patients, and watching them evolve from their first visit. She enjoys going to sporting events, but unfortunately for her, she's the only yankee fan on staff!
One of the reasons why Leticia loves working at AFO is that it feels like home. The doctors and team are awesome! What she enjoys the most is helping others. And in this field, she has the ability to bring that alive. On her days off, she loves listening to music.
In the short amount of time I've been working at Astoria Family Orthodontics, my interest in the dental field has grown significantly. When I'm not working, I'm taking selfies, doing my makeup or shopping. I love to make jokes and spread good vibes.
I have been working at Astoria Family Orthodontics for about 2 years now, and the girls have become like a second family to me. In my free time, I enjoy going to the movies, reading and traveling. I love learning about different cultures and traveling gives me the chance to do that.
Dr. Varriale grew up on Long Island, New York, and attended Binghamton University graduating with honors. After graduating dental school at University of Pennsylvania, she was accepted into New York University's orthodontic residency program where she received her certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Throughout her orthodontic residency, she received training in multiple fields including Invisalign, lingual braces, orthognathic surgery cases, and more. She also studied the biology underlying tooth movement and published her award-winning research in the Journal of Dental Research, one of the field's top journals. After completing her residency, she pushed hard to attain the highest plateau in orthodontic excellence by passing the written, oral and clinical board of orthodontics becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Although board certification was voluntary, and involved a lot of training and hard work, she did it to know for sure she had achieved the best possible training in orthodontics. Now she has the assurance that she is treating her patients at the highest standard in orthodontics.
She lives right here in Astoria, Queens with her husband Marcus, daughter Viviana and son Cameron. In her spare time, she enjoys playing violin, piano, tennis, trying out new restaurants and staying active in the community. She LOVES Astoria! She also continues to attend regional and national conferences to make sure she is always up to date with the latest research and technology.
After graduating with an applied math major/physics minor from Queens College, Dr. Lopatkin looked for a career that would also allow him the ability to interact with people to better their lives. Orthodontics does just that. He received his Dental degree at the University at Stony Brook, and his Orthodontic training at New York University College of dentistry in 1987. Soon after, he purchased a small practice in Astoria, Queens and now Astoria Family Orthodontics has been delivering high quality orthodontic services for over 30 years. He lives on Long Island with his wife Susan, who is the Mayor of their village. But he still considers Astoria his second home. In his free time, he loves biking, playing golf, photography and visiting his two daughters Stefanie and Allison.

Over all I liked this place. Only cons is that one of the technicians is really unprofessional. Every time when she put attachments for my Invisalign, it comes off right away. Not even last 2hours and I had to go back again and again. It happened 3 times and they still kept assigning her for my technician. I got so frustrated after 3 times and had to tell them to change my technician. Wish they would have realized and accommodated for me without me requesting them... All other technicians are super and the orthodontists are great as well. Almost no wait time always and clean spacey office.

All the receptionist and dental assistants are great but the orthodontist are not friendly or informative at time of the appointment. They talk between each other like you are not even there. Im not one to leave reviews but it's frustrating when your paying money out of your pocket for a service ans get treatment like this.

Lilly was amazing so very patient with my son she was kind funny and very outgoing very knowledgeable in her field this place is very beautiful and clean clean clean everyone is nice and not just nice for you to become a patient but genuinely nice and professional. Dr. V was also kind and made my son feel extremely comfortable I'm so grateful to have found this place. Very Zen Vibe cool and relaxed energy no one is stressed rude or bossy everyone works together collaboratively it's definitely a vibe during the chaotic world we are living in !! Love this place
