Dr. David Burkard was born and raised in New Britain and has been a lifelong resident of Connecticut. He attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs where he was selected to the honors program. He graduated Magna cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Biology and was also selected to membership in the honor society Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Burkard then attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where he both earned his DMD degree and met his wife of 27 years.

Dave then entered private practice and performed general dentistry for two years before deciding to return to the University of Connecticut to pursue his specialty training in Endodontics. While attending his residency he conducted a research project that led to a published article in the peer reviewed Journal of Endodontics. He was also appointed chief resident for the second year of his program.

Dave continues his strong ties with the University of Connecticut as a part-time Assistant Clinical Professor at the UConn Dental School. He is also a member of the Hartford Dental Society, where he serves as a director on the board of the society, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Connecticut Association of Endodontist, and the American Association of Endodontists. He has also been named as one of Connecticuts and Hartfords Top Dentists.

Dr. Ema Cabral Burke graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College. She received her Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. While there she received the Endodontic award given only to one graduating student. She received her Endodontic Certificate from Tufts University of Dental Medicine as well.

Dr. Burke is the immediate past president of the Connecticut Association of Endodontists and the former secretary/treasurer of the Connecticut Association of Endodontists. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Hartford Dental Society and the Litchfield Dental Society.

Dr. Burke has been recognized annually as one of Connecticut's Top Dentists since 2008. She was a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for two years before relocating to Connecticut. She has two sons, Ethan and Joshua, and her husband Gary is a twenty-five year veteran of the United States Air Force. She enjoys traveling, exercising, competitive sports, but mostly she enjoys watching her sons participate in all of their athletics. She is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
