In pursuit of his career as an oral surgeon, Dr. Schroeder earned his Masters degree at the University of Iowa and completed his residency at the universitys hospitals and clinics. Dr. Otte is the goat. Put off getting all 4 wisdoms extracted for over two years. Nurse & assistants were great and funny, seamless process. Was up and walked out of recovery almost all on my own. Great work but glad to never go back

I am extremely impressed with the care I received from AOS today! My experience from check-in to checkout was the best care I have ever received from a dental facility. Dr. Otte and his team made me feel relaxed, and comfortable. Let's not forget how quick Dr. Otte was with the extraction! It was quick, and painless. Dr. Otte talked with me every step of the way, and let me know what to expect. Hands down the best experience anyone can receive while having a tooth extracted! I highly recommend AOS for all oral surgery needs!!

On the day of my surgery, which was to remove the last 15 teeth. The rest had been taken out previously one by one. I was apprehensive and a bit nervous. Long time since I'd had any envasive surgery. Dr. Otte and his team were the most professional and caring group. Every question I had was answered, which made me settle in for a very easygoing piece of surgery. I really had no accompanying pain. Very light. I was prescribed a strong pain medication, which I had no need for. I went back a week later for a bone spur problem. Dr. Otte corrected that in a matter of minutes. I go back next week for a final post op check. I foresee no problems there, as I am healing nicely. My total thanks goes to you and your team DOC. Respectfully Michael McCallum

I had an impacted wisdom tooth and a expose and bond procedure done. The consultation went good and the nurses, doctor, and receptionist were nice and friendly. When I came back to have the surgery, the receptionist was nice and the lady that took me to the room was pleasant but the nurse that came in afterwards was rude and didn't say but a few words and did not say who she was or what she was doing. They gave me no direction on how to care for my mouth and they don't give ice packs like my previous oral surgeon did. Was cold in recovery and they didn't offer blankets and seemed annoyed by me. Was going to come back for an Implant once my braces are off but am now looking into other places. Not impressed.

First I would like to say that my experience with everyone from the front desk gals to the xray gal to the surgeon himself (Schroeder) - they were excellent. Accommodating, professional & very nice. Everything you'd want in an environment that can be scary to those who need dental surgery. I have severe dental phobia & require more than could be offered in the office. I was scheduled to have an in-hospital surgery mid-May, after in-office sedation failed on April 23. My experience with the hospital coordinator, Jami, was the reason for only 3 stars. We had several interactions via email & phone - and the more questions I had the more it seemed to irritate her. When I called OSF St. Francis for a price on the surgery I needed to have I was floored that it would be $20k. And that's the hospital price - nothing to do with the surgeon. Totally understand that. For my family, we don't have that kind of money lying around to remove just 1 bad tooth. I couldn't get a hold of Jami after I heard this insane number from OSF - so I called AOS and talked to a gal in the insurance department. She'd never heard my situation - but she listened to my concerns and I asked if there was a pre-authorization request in to my ins. company to see if they would cover this surgery - because if they couldn't, I couldn't possibly have it done. She told me over the phone that she hadn't had my file run across her desk yet and that she would send the pre-authorization form right over to my insurance company. And that relieved me! I was thankful. I was hopeful. Not long after that phone call, I received a phone call from Jami - and she didn't even seem to hide that she was perturbed that I had called someone besides her in the office there to ask about insurance coverage for this $20k surgery. She said it was in progress but that to be honest, she'd asked for coverage recently for a 24-year-old male patient with a cardiac pacemaker and his insurance denied HIM, so they most likely would not cover me. (In a tone like, you can try but I wouldn't count on it! Not a tone with any ounce of sympathy for this situation) I went from nearly having a heart attack hearing $20k (from OSF - not from AOS) - to having a little hope that ins. auth hadn't yet been sent (even though via email on April 23 Jami said she would call to ask about that - and now this was May 1 that I found out it wasn't taken care of yet) and maybe they would cover this surgery.....to having Jami tell me that basically there was a slim chance and not to count on it. That my only option was to have this surgery at that price or don't. That's it. No compassion. It sounded like I was the dent in her day. And that felt awful. I even asked if maybe the doctor could try oral sedation in the office. She said that wouldn't work. I didn't realize she was a doctor - but she told me no options I was suggesting would work. Surgery was it. Luckily by the grace of God, I found a dentist who would do it for me for a manageable amount of money. The team at AOS was great. It's a shame that my experience with this office worker went how it did. She was 100% the reason I canceled my surgery. She led me to believe I had no options & made me feel like a nuisance. Updating to add- after I canceled the surgery, I got a letter from my insurance a couple days later that said they WOULD cover the surgery. I'm glad it worked out the way it did. A $20k surgery at a hospital, intubated, is not how it ever should have gone. Instead, I had twilight sedation in a dentists office for under $500. Huge red flags for this office's practices.

A few weeks ago I had to get a tooth pulled. Dr Otte was my doctor. He did a excellent job and I felt little pain afterwards and had a quick recovery. Would definitely recommend him.

I had 4 difficult wisdom teeth removed. I had a painless procedure/recovery. I am very scared of dentists and dental procedures, I had a panic attack beforehand but the doctor and staff handled my procedure and recovery so well that I feel silly for being so worried. I did have 1 dry socket that was pretty painful but they got me in immediately. If you are the type of person that panics about dental work this is the place to go! That being said.... We paid a premium for that privilege. It was VERY expensive and not covered by our insurance company. For me it was worth the price but I know that it's not financially possible for everyone.

Care was fine. Nothing special. Billing is an absolute nightmare. They got notice from our insurance that it was NOT going to cover 3 of 4 teeth. They did NOT tell us! We had not yet gotten the notice in the mail. They went a head and did the surgery and REMOVED 3 TEETH that were not covered and TECHNICALLY DID NOT NEED TO BE PULLED! THAT THEY KNEW WERE NOT COVERED. Then sent us a bill for $800 after we already paid $1100 upfront! The business office was no help and could not explain why they "in good faith" did not tell us OR WHY THEIR SURGEON PULLED TEETH THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE PULLED!!!!!!!!!

Paid in full at time of service. Procedure was easier/cheaper than anticipated. Somehow this resulted in me owing them an additional $90. I disputed it with them via a couple phone calls, finally left a message on their machine with my billing info, letting them know that I think it's ridiculous that I would owe them more money under these circumstances, but to go ahead and charge my card if they insist. Heard nothing back until I received a letter from them, telling me that they will no longer offer services to me or my family, and I've been reported to a collection agency. Really can't make this stuff up. Please go someplace else.

HOPING surgery goes better than the consultation. Spent over an hour and a half just for the first step. Meanwhile my car died outside after my child forgot to shut the door tightly. Had the appt lasted a reasonable amount of time, I might not have gotten stranded and in total missed 3 hours of work.

Absolutely the best dentists every. Every aspect of this office is so professional and organized and cordial. I was referred to them after I discovered I had a bone sticking through my gum! Turned out I have osteonecrosis. They removed a couple of teeth under anesthesia. Best experience ever at a dentist. Healing is going so well. I would recommend them for anyone. Really impressive office space, too!

Did online registration they didn't call me after several days so I call them get scheduled begining of November for the 10th of December for 5 tooth extraction that have been killing me. Get my work schedule all worked out December 1st call me and tell me I have to be rescheduled because they double booked my time. Think twice before working with this team they don't seem to really care about the patient I'm glad I wasted all that time and energy to get this set up so I could be told with less than 2 weeks notice that I have to do rescheduled

Recommended by my dentist. Their cost estimate was right on once they had my health insurance information. Nurses were professional and the surgery (wisdom teeth removal) took less than an hour. No extra damage was done and I was fine at the two-week checkup.
