Our vision at Aspen Oral and Facial Surgery (AOFS) is to improve the lives of our patients by providing the most highly skilled surgical care in a honest, warm, and caring environment. AOFS was founded in 2016 by Dr. Eugene C. Kang and it is located in Erie, Colorado to serve the community of Erie and the surrounding cities of Colorado. The state-of-the-art facilities provide the most technologically advanced imaging in an office setting. The office itself is new and modern, utilizing the newest available technology and innovations in an attempt to deliver the most up-to-date care available. The on site CT scanner allows AOFS advanced diagnostics, at a significantly lower cost and radiation dose than that found at the hospital. In addition to this, scans can usually be approved, taken and evaluated in one visit. The Cone Beam CT scanner employed at AOFS allows for precise dental implant planning and computer-guided surgery as well as virtual rendering for facial reconstruction.
Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons have at minimum 4 or 6 years of formal training beyond the 4 years of dental school. This unique training specifically involves surgical removal of the most difficult of wisdom teeth. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are the most proficient providers for safe removal of wisdom teeth. In addition to being the best at performing this surgery; the Specialty sets the national standard of care for removal of wisdom teeth. Dr. Kang has 6 years of hospital based surgical training beyond the 4 years of dental school, and has formal Medical School and Fellowship training. In addition, he takes this surgery extremely seriouslyand puts his patients safety and optimum surgical outcome as the #1 priority.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons perform the majority of in office sedation within the practice of dentistry. Dr. Kang has had formal hospital based anesthesia training completed during his years in medical school, general surgery residency, and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency. In addition to this, Dr. Kang is a physician with an active medical license, maintains an active General Anesthesia Permit in Colorado, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. At Aspen Oral and Facial Surgery, Dr. Kang will provide in-office anesthesia with Hospital-Grade monitoring equipment and will provide the safest office-based anesthesia techniques available to his patients.
In some situations, dental implants can be un-complicated and straight forward, but just as often they can be extremely challenging and complicated. To adequately perform dental implants at a high levela surgeon must understand and be able to provide for dental implants at all stages of treatment while utilizing the most modern available technologies. Planning starts from before tooth extractions until the implants are ready for the final restorative restoration. Dr. Kang is very thorough in planning your treatment and discussing plans with patients, and can provide the highest standard of dental implant treatment available. By having Dr. Kang involved in your implant treatmentyou get a highly skilled surgeon to perform the implant surgery, and your dentist to perform the crown restoration. This ensures that at least 2 doctors will be able to evaluate and participate in your careand each is performing the service for which they are specifically trained.
Trained as a medical doctor as well as an oral surgeon, Dr. Kang is an expert at reconstruction of the face and jaws due to complex facial injuries. Dr. Kang currently holds the position as Medical Director of Facial Trauma at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO. He has comprehensive knowledge and skills in the treatment of traumatic injuries to the head and neck, and contemporary training in accepted advancements in treatment of these cases. Dr. Kangs training involved treatment of nearly every traumatic condition from the above the collarbones to the forehead. He can provide comprehensive care of the face, jaws, and teeth, both soft and hard tissue, and maintains relationships with other surgical sub-specialists in this field if needed to provide up-to-date care.
Tumors, cysts, and cancers of the head and neck have special significance in treatment because the removal can be disfiguring, and disruptive to nerve function, speaking, taste, and eating. If these lesions are treated as soon as they are identified, it often means smaller surgery and better surgical outcomes. If lesions do have large negative consequencesthey can require bone or skin grafting and possible dental or facial implants. Dr. Kang has thorough knowledge of the facial skeleton and soft tissue, technologies available, and the possible surgeries to treat these conditions. Having Fellowship training in Head and Neck Cancer reconstruction and Facial Trauma reconstruction has uniquely qualified him to care for patients with these conditions. Dr. Kang is one of just a handful of surgeons chosen into Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery Fellowship every year. Recently, Dr. Kang has published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery on Human Papillomavirus and Oral Cancer and a chapter on Odontogenic and Nonodontogenic cysts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Knowledge Update.

Dr Kang has a wonderful approach to his patients, making my teen feel at ease throughout the whole wisdom teeth removal process. He is an exemplary surgeon and kind person. Highly recommend.

I had to get a tooth pulled recently and my dentist recommended Dr. Kang. I could not recommend Dr. Kang and the team at Aspen more, they were all fantastic. I am actually not sure I have ever met a doctor where I knew , without a doubt , that they heard me, my concerns and questions (and I am an RN!). There was zero rush/push to make a decision, my options were clearly communicated and reviewed and all of my questions were answered throughly. The office is pristinely clean, and the hand hygiene (so important) was top notch. I knew I was in the best hands. The dental assistants were kind, supportive and professional and the front desk team member is a gem! I hope to not need any more teeth pulled but if I do, I know where I am going!

I had to go through the process of having a tooth remove and then a bone graft and implant placed. Before I even decided to have the implant procedure done, Dr. Kang explained all of my options and never pressured me one way or the other. I was nervous about having an implant placed, but each step of the multiple-step process could not have gone more smoothly, thanks to Dr. Kang and his awesome staff. Dr. Kang is such a good communicator (no small thing in this day and age) and I never wondered what was going on because he always explained everything in detail and then invited questions multiple times. Seriously, I was blown away by his professionalism, kindness, and skill and never once questioned that I was in good hands. HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kang for any oral surgery needs you may have.

Dr. Kang is excellent and the entire staff at Aspen Oral Surgery is amazing - super attentive, kind, personable, and very helpful. It was well worth the extra drive to have Dr. Kang do the procedure. My 11yo daughter needed to have 4 permanent teeth removed due to crowding. She was extremely nervous about the procedure but Dr. Kang answered all of her (and my) questions, made sure she understood the process and felt at ease. The procedure was fairly quick and my daughter said it was way better than she expected. She didn't really have any pain afterwards. The next morning she said her gums were a bit sore but that was it! Amazing that 4 teeth can be removed with such little discomfort during & afterwards. Dr. Kang is the best!

Dr. Kang and his team of professionals are awesome! I only met them this morning, but they have already made a huge difference in my life. I had some angry wisdom teeth that did not want to come out the normal way. I have been trying for almost 10 years to get someone to take them out, but always ran into some kind of complication that prevented the extraction. The folks at Aspen Oral and Facial Surgery got it done in about an hour and I didn't even need the IV sedation. I will be leaving the country soon, and I already feel so much more confident now that my dental concerns are resolved. Thank you Dr. Kang and team!

I was extremely nervous about getting my wisdom teeth out--especially since I had very long tooth roots. However, Dr Kang and his team did an amazing job! I made an appointment 3 weeks ago for consultation with Dr. Kang. Friday, 2 hrs before my appointment Leigh the receptionist tells me I need a referral from my dentist otherwise I will need to be reschedule. Of course my dentist is out on Friday and there's no way I can get a referral that soon. It would have been nice to know this on the day I scheduled my appointment. I took the day off for this appointment and Leigh wasn't very helpful at all. I'm a cash pay so I don't see the point for the referral. If they need my previous X-ray/records etc I can for sure get that to them next week when my dentist reopen. I'm sure Dr. Kang is great, but the staff definitely need some training for better costumer service. Dr. Kang was kind enough to call me him self and apologized. He is willing to work me in so I won't have to wait that long. I heard so much great things about Dr. Kang, so I plan on rescheduling my appointment with him. I work for a doctors office and I understand how busy we get and sometime we forget how to be kind and understanding with costumer. Leigh just need to be reminded. Thank you Dr. Kang for taking the time to call me.

We had a phenommenal experience with Dr. Kang and his staff. My son had his wisdom teeth extracted on Friday and they were very friendly and sensitive to his experience. Dr. Kang even called later in the day to check up on him. Highly recommend!
