I graduated from University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (U.O.P.) in San Francisco with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Tau Kappa Omega National Dental Honors Societies. I also received my Master of Science in Dentistry (M.S.D.) and Certificate in Orthodontics from University of the Pacific and received the highest scholarship award in my orthodontic residency.
I took part in orthodontic research in Craniofacial Research Instrumentation Laboratory (C.R.I.L.) for seven years at the University of the Pacific. I practiced both general and pediatric dentistry for several years before I decided to specialize in orthodontics. I enjoy teaching and was a member of the faculty at the University of the Pacific.
Ilove spending time with my family. I have two children, Ryan and Sophie. My husband, children and Ilive in Tiburon and you may see us at the soccer fields, the playgrounds orany other family fun-filled venue.
I am passionate about helping people transform their self-image and improve their confidence through orthodontic care. I truly enjoy making a difference in peoples lives, and appreciate the difference they make in my life as well.
My interest in dentistry, and ultimately orthodontics, began through my grandfather who practiced dentistry for more than 40 years. Seeing the positive influence he had in his community and the enjoyment he got out of dentistry motivated me to follow in his footsteps.
After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology at Arizona State University, I continued my education at the University of the Pacific (UOP) Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. There, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery, as well as my specialty degree in orthodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry.
Since completing my formal education, I have attended several continuing education courses to stay up to date on the latest innovations in orthodontics, allowing me to provide the highest quality standard of care and results. Most recently, this has included Invisalign, 3D technology, and self-ligating braces.

Hey everyone! My name is Essence and I'm the clinical coordinator and lab technician at Ashraf Orthodontics. I have been an orthodontic assistant since 2000 and I have been part of our wonderful practice since 2007. I absolutely love my job. It is so gratifying to be involved in helping create beautiful smiles for our patients.
I grew up in Bay Point, CA and currently reside in Novato. My husband DeMarcus and Ihave a daughter, Indie, who was born in September 2019. My interest involves spending time with my family, including my two dogs, Foxie and Lucy. I enjoy photography, in front of and behind the camera. I also love traveling, shopping and scuba diving!
I was born in Costa Rica and grew up in San Rafael, CA. I love to travel, most of the time totropical places, campand makearts and crafts with my teenage daughter Natalia. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends!
I was born in Berlin, Germany and was raised in Marin County. My husband and I live in San Rafael with our Boston Terrier, Piper, and we have a grown daughter. We are a close family and enjoy traveling and sharing those experiences with friends and family.
