One of the many things I love about orthodontics is that orthodontic treatment can completely change someones facial appearance. Depending on a persons jaw shape, tooth size, and many other factors, if planned properly, orthodontic treatment can have a positive impact on a patients facial aesthetics, not just when the braces are removed, but well into the future! I love looking at each patients unique situation to determine what treatment options will deliver the best combination of health, function, and aesthetics for that individual.

I attended the University of California at San Diego for my Bachelors degree in microbiology and a minor in psychology. From San Diego, I travelled to Ann Arbor, Michigan where I studied dentistry at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, I received my Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS), graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society.

For my specialty residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, I was proud to earn acceptance at the University of Washington- one of the most prestigious orthodontic programs in the United States. At UW, I earned my specialist certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD), and wrote a Masters thesis. I went on to publish an article based on my Masters thesis research in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

My formal education has provided me with an excellent foundational knowledge of the field. Orthodontics, however, is constantly evolving. I regularly attend professional meetings, review multiple research journals, and study online to stay on top of the newest developments, techniques, equipment, materials, and technology. Staying current with the latest research in dentistry and orthodontics ensures that I am able to provide my patients with all possible treatment options as well as discuss the information they need to make educated decisions about their care.

Spending quality time with my family is my priority when Im not caring for my patients. I make a point to stay active and enjoy the great outdoors, whether Im hiking, snow skiing, running, biking, paddle boarding or swimming. On weekends, I can often be found at a swim meet cheering for my daughters in their sporting endeavors.

For many years, I volunteered at my daughters schools, leading small math and reading groups, to enhance childrens learning. I do presentations at local public elementary schools, providing oral health education, and participate in Girls Exploring Math and Science programs upon request. I support many local youth sports teams, 4-H students, and youth music programs through sponsorships. I am proud to partner with Kitsap Youth Lacrosse Association providing custom sports mouthguards for their players.I also support local professional programs, such as the Kitsap County Medical Society Foundation, and the YMCA Strong Kids program. These organizationsare aligned with my passion of improving the health and development ofchildren in our wonderful community.

Ashmore Orthodontics has a reputation for offering a high level of communication including listening to our patients concerns, educating them about their orthodontic situation, and discussing the different options available to them. By providing ample education, we encourage our patients to choose the plan that will provide optimal results for them and fit best with their lifestyle and personal situation.

We listen to and care for each patient based on their individual needs and wants. We ensure each patient is comfortable through every step of their orthodontic journey, and see to it we achieve the healthiest, most beautiful smile possible for them.

We love learning about the lives, background, and interests of our patients. The exchanges we have throughout the day delight us all, and the practice is always filled with laughter and smiles, from patients and our team.

Every patient deserves the best dental aesthetics, oral health, and overall health possible for them. Orthodontics is an essential component of setting up a lifetime of oral health. If the jaws and teeth are properly aligned, not only will their facial appearance and smile look amazing, the teeth will be less prone to wear and fracture over time, teeth will be easier to floss and clean, and the periodontal health will be more ideally maintained over time.

Additionally, correlations are being made between sleep health and the structure of the jaws and occlusion (bite). Orthodontics planned with a mindset of providing the best airway volume possible can have profound effects on patients overall health.

For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! At Ashmore Orthodontics, wewant you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience. Dr. Jennifer Ashmore andher team are dedicated to making sure that you receive the superior, quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or Phase Itreatment at an early age can also help provide a quicker treatment time with full braces as a teen.

So far, it has been a great experience with Ashmore! I am so thankful to find a good orthodontist that is understanding for this 40+ gal getting braces to help protect my teeth as I age. The staff are great, explain everything, and have thoroughly answered any questions I've had. The office is nice with its equipment appearing to be newer/nicer. So glad to find this business for my orthodontic needs.

My daughter's pleaded with me to keep going to Dr. Ashmore and her team even after we moved to Pierce county. They are very happy with staying in her care, and so am I!

What a friendly staff! My dental hygienist recommended Dr. Ashmore and I can now see why. I did have to wait longer than I was wanting to and hope that was just an unusual circumstance. However, a staff member did come out to assure me I had not been forgotten. I will definitely be getting my treatments done here!
