Most people are familiar withgum diseaseandtooth decay, but Dr. Merrell is just as concerned aboutocclusal diseases. When your teeth do not bite together properly, it can create abnormal wear patterns, broken teeth, headaches, and more. Thats why we use the Tekscan to record an occlusal analysis of your bite if it appears that an occlusal problem is at play.
Data is recorded every 300th of a second, including the intensity of the force of each biting point of your mouth. This information allows us to make appropriate modifications so that you can enjoy a healthier, more functional smile.
Dr. Merrell grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is an avid traveler and outdoor aficionado. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs. She also enjoys volunteering, shag dancing the state dance of South Carolina, running, working out, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, and skiing. When she isnt working out and being healthy, she also enjoys cooking and baking foods that arent dentist approved!

We are so excited to have Morgan as the newest addition to the Asheville Smiles Family! Morgan grew up in a small town in Jackson County. After high school, she studied emergency medical services. She enjoyed health care, but EMS wasnt her passion. She applied and was accepted into the dental assisting and hygiene program. There she found that dentistry was her true passion.
She graduated in 2015 from Asheville Buncombe Technology College with an associate in Dental Assisting and Hygiene. When you sit in her chair, she has extensive knowledge of emergency medicine, restorative dentistry, and dental hygiene from all of her education and clinical experiences. She loves educating patients on dental home care and providing compassionate care. In her personal life she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and three dogs. They enjoy camping and riding dirt bikes. Morgan has a passion for caring for others. Morgan looks forward to building long term relationships with our patients and providing the best care possible!

Every single one of the employees I have interacted with are very nice and professional. Thank you Tanya for telling me about botox for TMJ! It has worked like a dream. I love, love, love Botox! Dr. Merrell is exceptional, and she is the first female dentist I've ever had. I am on their dental plan which includes one emergency visit. Dr. Merrell works emergency patients into her schedule. If you end up having to wait an extra 20, 30, or 40 minutes, it means she may have an emergency she's working on. I have fun every time I'm there and am glad she accepted me as a new patient.

I had my very first appointment here yesterday, and I am in awe of how incredible all the ladies are here. I have had many bad experiences with dentists, but it was such a pleasure to be seen here. From the moment I walked in Lauren at the front desk made me feel right at home. Brie was so easy to talk to, she helped put my mind at ease while I waited to be seen. Tonya walked me through my upcoming dental procedures and really made me feel as though she actually cared, she was very genuine and informative. Though I've yet to have any dental work done by Dr. Merrel I feel very confident and comfortable that she will be an amazing dentist! So incredibly glad I chose to make an appointment here, you ladies were such a pleasure to meet.

Dr. Merrell generously spent time understanding my teeth clenching issues and went beyond a typical dentist by working with my primary care doctor to help address the underlying issue. My repeated visits to Asheville Smiles have been very positive, with kind and informative support from multiple staff members. I was initially referred here for Botox injections into my jaw, and the intake process and injections were efficient and surprisingly painless!

Dr Merrell and her staff are awesome! I recently moved to the Asheville area and after researching area dentist decided on Asheville Smiles. Dr Merrell is very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. I've had many procedures and her staff have answered all my questions and are very competent. You should consider coming in for a consult! They're the BEST!

Many moons ago I received a upper and lower dentures. The fit was awful. I could not eat with them and the lower had so much metal in it I could not talk in a normal voice. Dr. Merrill urged me to try again and I am glad she did so. The new dentures could not be better. I can eat just about anything and with my new smile I am not embarrassed to show it. Kudos to Dr, Merrill and her top notch staff. Thank you for the great new dentures.

I went in as a new patient today 8-3-22 after not going to a dentist for a while. I was given the full new patient treatment, a detailed cleaning and set up on one of there annual plans. I would highly reccomend Asheville Smiles for any new patient that's looking for a great new dentist in the Asheville area for routine dental care and maintenance. They offer a full line of cosmetic options based on your needs as well. They have all the latest technology, and I'm very happy with my choice.
