Doctor Ash grew up in Olympia, the son of a contractor and the oldest of four boys. His early experiences with dentistry were tough. My mom selected a dentist who worked on us without anesthetic, Dr. Ash says, Its so ironic that I became a dentist but really that shaped my career and has motivated me to do my best for my patients because I remember what it was like to be apprehensive about dentistry.
Dr. Ash has practiced dentistry for over 40 years. After high school, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from PLU and then went on to graduate from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. The most impactful educational experience Dr. Ash has had since graduating has been completing the Kois Centers (the center is a dental education and research center with a worldwide reputation) comprehensive dental curriculum. Dr. Ash and Dr. Roberts did this together and have attended the annual symposiums for over ten years.
Dr. Ash moved to Lewis County in 1978 with his wife Bobbi. They were blessed with two children, Gabe and Sarah! Bobbi passed away from breast cancer when Gabe was nine and Sarah was six. She had extraordinary faith and was a wonderful mother. In 1994 Dr. Ash and Candace were married and Candaces daughter, Hannah, was an added bonus! Then a year later Miriam was born! Now Steve and Candace are the proud grandparents of ten grandchildren (which includes two foster children)!
Dr. Ash says his love of family and passion for dentistry are huge joys but all of that is enriched and informed by the realization that Jesus the Messiah has forgiven me, helped me through the most difficult times and has given me hope and purpose. Dr. Ash is very involved in Grace Foursquare Church. He facilitates a Bible Study, meets with young adults (Faith Lab), and is in leadership.
Dr. Ash has been voted Best of Lewis County multiple times, but his greatest honor has been to develop long-term relationships with [his] patients. Dr. Ash says, I am so blessed to have an amazing staff and work with Dr. Roberts who is an exceptional Dentist.
Dr. Brian Roberts and Dr. Steven Ash maintain one of the most successful private dental practices in Lewis County. A local boy, he was born at the old St. Helens Hospital in Chehalis. He was raised in Onalaska and graduated from Onalaska High School as Valedictorian. He then went onto graduate from St. Martins College with a Bachelors Degree in Biology/PreMed. Dr. Roberts earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1998.
Dr. Roberts has had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Ash for a long time; as he was his dentist since the third grade. The Lord has blessed him with the opportunity to observe in his office through an internship program during his years at St. Martins. They continued to stay in touch over the years while he was in dental school. After graduation, he was again blessed and became an associate with Dr. Ash. Coming back to the area he grew up in was important to him and his wife Amy.
Being a dentist does not give me the right to practice dentistry, it merely gives me a license. My patients give me the right to practice dentistry. This is a quote that rings true to his heart. He is thankful that his patients have chosen him and trust him to provide dental care for them and their families.
With this trust comes a responsibility to continue to grow, learn, and always do his best. Dr. Roberts was fortunate to attend the Kois Center for advanced dental education and graduated from that in the fall of 2009. Since then, he has attended the yearly Symposium that updates the most current scientifically proven, evidence-based techniques in dentistry. Dr. Roberts has also taken a sedation course from DOCS Education and an Implant course with the world-renowned Norm Ickert. Dr. Roberts is also a Fellow with The International Congress of Oral Implantologist since 2014.
During all of this, his biggest blessing has been meeting his wife Amy during college and marrying her during dental school. Since then they have been blessed with four children: Kyle, Kelli, Lexi and Kenzie. He could not be prouder; as these children are his pride and joy. He enjoys time with his family skiing, hiking, traveling, sports and hunting.

I can't thank these doctors enough for everything they've done for me and my son. They aren't his dentist, but they have been mine since I was old enough to work and pay for what I needed to be done, and being a parent, we all know how it is when it comes to our own medical and dental needs when we're moms and dads. Their amazing staff, Dr. Roberts and Dr. ash have been so gracious to me, thank you doesn't cover how grateful I am to be a patient to them. I absolutely love my teeth doctors and would never think to look elsewhere for the kind of care received at this practice, because it doesn't exist. Unfortunately not so impressed by this last appt, very dissapointed :( Since the main front office person left, the whole dynamics, & friendliness of this this whole business has totally changed :( It's very sad, the whole entire staff is run now more as a business now, & very structured rather than kindness, & compassion towards their patients. I feel I am being treated as a number rather than a patient, I am hoping this is due to the pandemic, I sure hope so :( I am hopeful things will change back to normal, & be treated with respect and kindness at the next appointment. The Doctors are always kind, that is not the issue. This email was sent to me & I'm a teenager filling this out with the help of my Mom, & now Grandma as well. We all agreee things have changed since the main person has left, it is more structured now and run like a true business. We don't need to see smiles all the time, that was not the issue. We are used to waiting up to 45 mins to see the doctors everytime we arrive because they are so good at their jobs. The 1 time we call because our ride showed up in the wrong type of vehicle, we immediately called your office twice to let them know we would be 15 min late. They had every opportunity to reschedule our appts, but they didn't I had work done on my teeth but my Mom didn't, & just sat there waiting for the Doctor for 30 mins. We have changed our rating out of respect for the Doctors in the clinic, but feel the over all demeanour of the staff now could use some improvent, it doesn't have to be smiling all the time just kind words or a simple coversation like it used to be in the past :)

Dr. Ash has been a great dentist for at least 40 years that I know about. Always kind, fair, professional, and caring. Best dentist I have ever been to. I live in Florida now. Cannot find another like Dr. Ash.

Ash & Roberts not only have the best location for busy parents in our community, they line up their team with genuinely nice, helpful, and friendly people. That is everything, how you're treated when you walk in and over the phone. Their scheduling system is super easy and the reminders are life savers. So Thankful for a Dream Team like theirs. Best in town.

I have been very happy with all staff at Ash and Robert, DDS. I had appointment with Dr. Roberts this afternoon, I'm sure he has to the best. I learned some things about my teeth, never to old to learn I guess.

Dental services were excellent, but there wasn't a single chair in the waiting room which would comfortably support my worn-out back. I need arm rests on both sides and at proper height. Glad I didn't have to wait long!
