Artful Smiles Family Dentistry - General dentist in Virginia Beach, VA

Dr. James is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High school and Norfolk State University. After some time in the retail work force, she decided to continue her education. Pursuing a long time interest in health care, she graduated from Howard University's College of Dentistry in 1996. Dr James' first position was part-time with Portsmouth's Dept. of Health. Then, for the next nine and a half years, she worked full-time for Correct Care Solutions at a local correctional facility. After careful thought and a lot of prayer, Dr.James then opened her own practice Artful Smiles Family Dentistry. This allowed Dr. James the opportunity to practice the full range of dental treatment and for all ages. Dr. James has been enjoying treating patients for the past twenty years. She looks forward to continuing to do so.

Have been taking care of my kids over 3 years, every time we we visited they did a professional job from welcoming to do what's needed. Our kids always more than enthusiastic to go there and have a cheerful talk before and after the treatment. My wife also had root canal and fillings over a year ago, not only treatment went well in couple appointments but also she never had an issue with them. Highly recommending these folks, professional in their work and warm in their smiling faces. Thanks!

The experience was not pleasant as I was a new patient trying to establish care. My records were sent by my prior dentist a week prior to my appointment yet front desk staff stated they were not. A copy was forwarded to me with the date and time stamp. Front desk associate interrupts and speaks over clients, not very customer friendly. Was seeking dental care for myself and my 4 children. I'm glad I chose to check it out first before I bought the rest of my family. I will not chose this office and do not recommend.

Customer service & quality of work is always good! The ladies are inviting & down to Earth! She always walks me the exactly what's going to happen to ensure I'm comfortable! Definitely recommend

My son and I were told that between the two of us we would need NINE fillings. My insurance changed and I had to switch dentists twice. Each dentist told me that neither my son or myself needed fillings!!!

Worst dental experience I've ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and look for another dental office.

Dr. Patricia James is a wonderful human being with a very kind staff. She was very gentle and communicative with my filling and I felt very comfortable. Best thing is they take military insurance! Going back when I need to!

Trying to support black-owned businesses is very hard. I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance. Front desk tells me to be there 15 minutes early, thank God I was lost, because they said I had no appointment. Front desk didn't seem very confident. I hope that things will be better for there business in the future because I do want to see them do well. God Bless

I went there through the army to get a cavity fixed, and a week later I am still having pain. Plus another surprise half the filling fell out today, so I have to go somewhere else to get it fixed. Would highly not recommend.

DO NOT GO HERE. Was told I had multiple cavities every time I went in for a cleaning. One time I went back in to get one filled, and after they did the work they told me they filled the wrong cavity and not the one they "found" during my cleaning. So they made me schedule another appointment so they could fill the correct cavity (which didn't exist). Another time I got a "cavity" filled and they drilled before I was numb. Another time I went in for a cleaning and afterwords was told the dentist wasn't in that day so I had to schedule another appointment to see the dentist. Not sure why it took me that many screw ups to say no more, but needless to say I cancelled all future appointments and never went back.
