After graduating from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1997, Dr. Brodsky entered private practice in Bethesda. She purchased Bright Beam Dental from founder, Dr. Richard Rehak in 2000, which became Art & Dentistry, LLC in 2010. Her focus on leading-edge tools, technology, and techniques ensures that our patients receive the highest quality dental care that we can provide.
Dr. Brodsky has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education courses to broaden her skill set and remain current with the latest developments in dentistry. In addition, she has trained with some of the worlds top dental specialists. Dr. Bryan Kitahara obtained his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Michigan in 2004 and proceeded to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland Dental School.
Subsequently, he completed a General Practice Residency in dentistry at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Through this program, he acquired additional training in dental implant restorations, oral surgery, and restorative dentistry. He also completed an externship at York Hospital in general dentistry and an oral surgery externship at Washington Hospital Center.
He is the recipient of the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award for excellence in restorative dentistry, the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Award for excellence in gross anatomy, the Dr. William S. Kramer award for promise for the advancement of dentistry, and the Katherine Toomey plaque for devotion to the University of Maryland Dental School.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, the Gorgas Odontologic Honor Society, and the Chinese Dental Study Club.
Dr. Bryan Kitahara grew up in Laurel, Maryland and currently resides in Rockville with his wife Cari. He continues to demonstrate a committment to serving the community in which he lives. He has volunteered his time to give oral screenings at the Maryland Special Olympic games as well as to underserved veterans in the Washington, D.C. area.
Dr. Julia Lipps-Joachim received her Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2002, and worked in the environmental nonprofit field as well as the dental field before attending and receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland Dental School in 2009.
Upon graduation, Dr. Lipps-Joachim completed a General Practice Residency Program, with the Department of Dentistry at Mt. Sinai Hospital, followed by a Geriatric Dentistry Fellowship, with the Department of Geriatric and Palliative Care, also at Mt. Sinai Hospital, gaining more experience in treating patients with complicated medical histories and complex medical conditions.
Through her education, years of experience, and substantial continuing education courses, Dr. Lipps-Joachim is dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive quality care in cosmetic, restorative, and rehabilitative dentistry. It is her top priority to make each patient feel comfortable and ensures that every patient is given the attention they deserve by addressing their unique dental needs and anxieties.
Dr. Schliep completed his Bachelors Degree at University of Maryland, College Park, and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at University of Maryland, Baltimore. He is passionate about education and is devoted to providing the most cutting edge techniques and dental care available. Dr. Schliep continues to study and expand his knowledge in all aspects of dentistry including Oral Surgery, Root Canal Treatment and Cosmetic and Restorative General Dentistry. He believes in empowering his patients with the knowledge to help make informed decisions about their health.
Dr. Schliep grew up in Rockville and currently lives in Bethesda with his wife and 2 cats. When not in the office, he likes to paint and spend time with his family. He also volunteers for Generation Hope as a math and science tutor.
Wendy Gordon Dental Hygienist Wendy began her dental career 35 years ago and joined Art and Dentistry in 1980. She received an associates degree in dental hygiene from Temple University and a bachelors degree in general studies from American University. Wendy likes the people she works with our patients and our team. She appreciates the difference quality dental care makes in the life of an individual. Along with her husband of 30 years, Wendy has two children and a dog. Wendys interests include skiing, traveling, and playing golf.
Ingrid Qman Fuentes Patient Coordinator Ingrid has been a member of our team for two years now, with over ten years of overall experience in the field. She has her Bachelors in Communication Science from the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala and also her certification as an English/Spanish Interpreter. She loves being part of the top dental service in the area and helping patients feel better and smile! She has one son and one daughter. In her free time, she enjoys photography, gardening, traveling, reading, and going to the movies.
Susan Rice Certified Dental Assistant Susan has been working in the dental field for 38 years now. She attended the Dental Assistant Program at Prince Georges Community College. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the patients, doctors, and other team members, who all provide tremendous compassion, comfort, and professional excellence. She loves seeing how the patients enjoy their beautiful office and the way they leave with a smile on their faces! She currently lives in Bethesda with her husband of 16 years and their two Maltese dogs. When shes not helping fix smiles, she enjoys cooking, playing tennis, gardening, and spending time with family.
Allie Young Dental Assistant Allie first started at our practice in 2013, and she is currently in school and training to be a dental hygienist. She enjoys working with so many lovely people and getting to know the patients throughout each unique day. She lives with her parents, two sisters, her brother, and her adorable dog. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new places and being with her friends.
Tawny Young Dental Assistant Tawny joined our Bethesda dental office in 2011, bringing with her 20 years of experience as a dental assistant. While living in Wisconsin, she completed programs in dental assisting, oral hygiene, and orthodontics at the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). She loves seeing how our patients respond to our beautiful office, and to the compassionate care they receive from our team. When shes not helping us create great smiles, Tawny loves painting, kickball, spending time with her family, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. She lives with her boyfriend, their four children, and their German Shepherd.
