I love my job because it offers me the opportunity to meet so many different people and learn so much from them. It also gives me the chance to improve the quality of life for the people I serve by improving their self-image and self-confidence. I really enjoy watching someones personality transform as they become more confident. I have learned so much from my patients over the years. They have enriched my life and made me a better person.

I attended the University of St. Thomas, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1995 with a degree in Biology. I then went to the University of Minnesota Dental School, graduating in 1999, then pursuing an orthodontics residency at the same institution, which I completed in 2001 with a Master of Science degree.

I am a member of the Lake Superior Study Club and Great Lakes Study Club, and I attend Northeastern District Dental Society meetings. The Great Lakes Study club brings in nationally renowned speakers to keep us up-to-date on the most advanced techniques in dentistry. It also provides us an opportunity to look at complex cases with multiple dental specialists so that we may find solutions to almost any dental challenge.

I grew up nearby in St. Cloud and today I make my home in Duluth. My wife, Tam, and I have two kids, Haily and Owen. I love spending time with my family and doing just about anything outdoorsy: hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, running, and competing in marathons.My family and I also contribute to many local charitable organizations. My wife has been active in the school system and PTO, and was president of MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) when our children were younger.

I love orthodontics.I find it exciting to be involved in the orthodontic process that can make a significant and positive change in a patients life. For me, it is a privilege to be able to enhance my patients quality of life and self-confidence through the creation of a healthy and radiant smile. I feel blessed with the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people and form lasting relationships with them throughout their orthodontic journey. It is fulfilling to see a patients new beautiful smile that they get to share with the world. I truly appreciate the opportunity to make a positive difference in my patients' lives.

I attended Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and earned my bachelor's degree with a major in Biology and a concentration in Biomedical Studies. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota, graduating second in my dental class. I was further distinguished by acceptance into the prestigious Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. I completed my studies at Marquette University and received my specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science degree.

I participate in continuing education at the local, regional, and national levels. I believe it is essential to keep up-to-date on the latest treatment advancements, technology, and research in orthodontics to ensure the highest quality and efficient treatment options for my patients.

I was born and raised in Two Harbors, MN, and I am excited to be home in northern Minnesota.My husband, Luke, and I met during our undergraduate years at St. Olaf College.We are looking forward to raising a family together in Duluth. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and being in the great outdoors. I love hiking on the North Shore, fishing, kayaking, golfing, skiing, snowshoeing, and traveling. I also enjoy searching for agates on the shores of Lake Superior.

I feel fortunate to be an orthodontist because I get to listen to my patients goals and talk about what is possible to achieve them through braces or Invisalign. It is rewarding to have a positive influence on a patients life and help them attain a radiant simile and healthy tooth function. Watching my patients grow into a more confident version of themselves is gratifying for me.

Being an orthodontist is a natural fit for me as it combines my passion of helping patients as well as my talents in science, knowledge in smile, facial aesthetics, and problem-solving skills. I was raised in Stillwater, MN, and met Kirstin, my wife, while attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. We found Duluth and the surrounding communities to be a perfect place for us to work, live, and raise a family. In my free time, I can most often be found with Kirstin and our children enjoying the outdoors of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. We enjoy hiking on the north shore, throwing rocks into Lake Superior, running, fishing, cross-country skiing, and golfing.
