Dr. Robert S. Wood was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and has been an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for over 30 years. He is board-certified and practices the full scope of oral surgery, including dental implants, jaw surgery, wisdom teeth, dental extractions, and more. During his career, Dr. Wood has practiced in several US locations, as well as overseas.
After completing his education and training, Dr. Wood began practicing in Wisconsin. Eventually, he returned to Chicago, where he became a full-time educator and director of residency education at the University of Chicago. After teaching for three years, Dr. Wood lived overseas, where he worked as the lead oral and maxillofacial surgeon and part-time administrator of a large clinic for many years.
In 2007, he returned to the U.S. to be closer to family and friends and became a partner at Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He strives to make patients feel relaxed and comfortable, and he takes pride in being honest with patients through the entire treatment process.
Dr. Wood completed his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and earned his dental degree at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1980. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Wood decided he wanted to continue his training by becoming an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
He completed a hospital internship and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he gained invaluable hands-on experience working with patients in a hospital environment. After his residency program, Dr. Wood continued gaining skills and experience through a year-long fellowship at Charity Hospital, an LSU-affiliated hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Wood is the recent past president of the Southern Arizona Dental Society (SADS) as well as the Pima Dental Study Club (Tucsons largest dental study group). He is section chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Tucson Medical Center. Dr. Wood holds numerous certifications and is a member of many professional organizations, including:
Born and raised in Utah, Dr. Nicholas Coles has been practicing in Tucson for the past 4 years. He decided to pursue oral surgery after being exposed to dentistry through his father, brothers, and sister, who are also dentists. When he had to have jaw surgery during his early 20s, he got an even closer look at what oral and maxillofacial surgeons do. His experience gave him a unique perspective, and he found that oral surgery was an interesting mix of both medicine and dentistry, which drew him to the field. His favorite thing about being an oral surgeon is seeing the immediate results patients get from treatment and helping them improve their health.
Dr. Coles attended Utah State University for his undergraduate studies. He studied Spanish in college before traveling to Uruguay for two years, and today Dr. Coles is a fluent Spanish speaker. After his undergraduate studies, he attended Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated in 2007.
Dr. Coles finished a 4 year oral and maxillofacial residency program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. This hands-on oral surgery training program gave him real-world experience working with patients and performing procedures. After completing his residency program in 2012, he began practicing with Dr. Wood at Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Negin (Nikki) Saghafi is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who holds both dental and medical degrees. She was drawn to oral surgery during her dental school training because of its unique connection between medicine and dentistry and the potentially life-changing effects of surgery. She prides herself in providing excellent surgical care while being empathetic to her patients needs.
Dr. Saghafi completed her undergraduate education in human physiology at the University of Arizona and graduated with highest distinction in 2007. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at UCSF, distinguishing herself with multiple scholarships and her involvement in research and academic commendations, graduating in 2011.
Dr. Saghafi completed her oral and maxillofacial residency at UCLA, where she also obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree as part of her 6-year residency program. She completed a year of general surgery internship and extensive anesthesia training as part of her residency, providing her with the knowledge needed to provide the best care for her patients.

Had an extraction and an implant done by Dr. Coles that cost $3200 for one tooth. The work done was fine but their billing department is horrible. They wouldn't take my dental insurance plan so I had to pay out of pocket and they said they would reimburse me when and if my insurance paid anything. My insurance paid them around $1600. They received payment on Aug. 8th and today is Oct. 10th and still no refund from AZOMS over two months later. They are real good about demanding their money upfront for the work but when it comes to giving you your money back they could care less.

I love this office. Naturally I was nervous about my procedure but once I was in the surgery room it all changed. I opted for general anesthesia to get my wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Coles placed my IV quickly and painless. Aracely placed my nasal cannula and Lissa did my intake question. It all went so smooth and I was even given a blanket by Rosaura to keep my warm add comfort during my surgery. 10/10 recommended if you need your wisdom teeth removed. Thank you guys for being so caring and making this procedure painless.

Dr. Coles and his staff were wonderful and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. His staff also made sure to follow up with me after my procedure to make sure I was doing well and to see if I had any questions or concerns.

This is my third dental implant and I would have to say, this time around was a piece of cake. I had no pain after the procedure and the healing process was a success. I also appreciated the check ins from the office staff while I was healing. I wish Dr. Coles would have done my other two implants. I highly recommend. Thanks again Dr. Coles.

I had a great experience. The surgery went well. I had no complications after the procedure. During the follow up appointment, they made sure there is no sign of infection and the gum is healing well. Would definitely recommend them

Dr. Woods and his team are the best! They took such good care of me before and after the procedure. They made me feel comfortable and relaxed until I fell asleep and after I woke up. They were so sweet and made very clear post-op instructions for us to take home

I have had a number of implants done by Dr. Coles, over the years. The Oro Valley office is beautiful and the staff is always friendly, welcoming and caring. Dr. Coles is just an all around nice, compassionate, down to earth, fun, but professional oral surgeon. I am completely comfortable there.

I got my wisdom teeth removed here at the recommendation from my dentist. Very smooth procedure and recovery with no complications. All of the staff were friendly and professional. Dr Nicholas J Coles is amazing! A true professional. He did my surgery with no issues. He listens to me without making me feel rushed, very caring. I've had two implants done by Dr. Coles. I had a great experience in both cases. I would highly recommend Dr. Coles and his professional staff without any hesitation whatsoever. I had an implant removed due to infection and bone loss. Dr Coles knows his craft. Excellent job with little pain. I recovered within a few weeks. The staff are very professional and make frequent follow-up calls. Highly recommended.

The best experience I've ever had with Dr Coles and his staff! I had to have a tooth extracted and an implant started. I was devastated about the situation and so upset. Dr Coles made me feel so much better! I've never met an oral surgeon so caring and showing so much empathy! I always have so much anxiety about having my teeth done, and I must say I did not feel anything. The staff called a few times to check on me which was so amazing! Believe me you don't get that kind of follow up these days! Dr Coles and my reg dentist even sent me a beautiful Orchid. I highly recommend him and his staff. The best experience I've ever had.
