Dr. Bakken was raised primarily in Rochester, MN, but also lived in San Jose, CA, & England during his youth. He graduated with honors in Chemistry from St. Olaf College in 1989 & with honors from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1994. He has been using the CEREC same-day crown machine in his office for over ten years, & he has placed over 2500 restorations. He has completed advanced continuing education courses in implant placement & restoration, mini implants, BOTOX treatment, bone grafting & sedation, as well as a 120-hour course in esthetic dentistry. He enjoys spending time with his wife & family, serving in his church & coaching lacrosse & hockey.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Tom Levine is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry & is passionate about patients oral health & restorative needs. Since graduating, Dr. Levine has had a strong commitment to continuing his education & is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, International Team Implantology, & American Academy for Oral Systemic Health where he holds fellowship status. He is a big St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan & resides in Bloomington with his wife, Libby, & their two children, Sadie & Jack.

I've been going to Dr Bakken for a few years now, and I will never consider putting my teeth in anyone else's hands. He is very educated and ensures you know exactly what is happening, and explains everything thoroughly. He is always happy to answer your questions. I had shattered my 2 front teeth many years ago, and he put crowns on my two front teeth to save them. They have been perfect since. More recently I haven't visited the dentist for a few years out of anxiety, and we'll... Being busy with life. I told the dental assistant this today, and she told me she would do whatever it is to make me feel comfortable and at ease. Bless her honestly, because now I feel more comfortable making my appointments to better my teeth health. If you are having any doubts, take it from someone who absolutely has white coat syndrome, you are in good hands here. And they will make you feel comfortable & confident! Thanks team!!

I have been going here for over 20 years. You will be hard pressed to find dental care that is as friendly and professional as Apple Valley Dental. They genuinely care about you and your health. If you are looking for a dentist start here.

I had my first appointment today. Hannah was very kind and made sure I understood everything. She's very understanding and patient. The front desk staff are also very friendly.

I would give 0 stars if possible. Really surprised by all of the high ratings for this place. They must have their friends and families writing the reviews. Made an appointment for my son to get a check-up and teeth cleaning before school started for the year. Scheduler said it would be for an hour. Okay. That's fine. They also stated that they took our dental insurance so good to go. Son went there. They didn't even spend 30 minutes with him or clean his teeth. Then said we would have to make another appointment to get his teeth cleaned! Today we got the bill. They charged our insurance nearly $400 for barely looking at our son's teeth. Our insurance paid most of it except for about $36 for what they described as giving oral instructions for dental care to our son. What?! Seriously?! $36 for them using their mouth to tell our son to brush and floss?! No doubt they want their patients to make multiple unnecessary trips to their office so that they can drain money from both their patients and insurance companies for nonsense. We also got a mailer from them today stating that exams and cleanings for children are free. Be warned!!! They are false advertisers and only interested in what is in your bank account!!! I have no problem paying for a service that is earned. Trouble is, is that they don't earn their money. They scam for it.

This was my first time at AV dental care, and my first time back to the dentist in a while. Everyone was super helpful and welcoming. Everything was so efficient and smooth. It was a great dentist experience! 10/10 would recommend!

Came to this dental office after not having a cleaning for probably a decade, I had some significant anxiety regarding coming in, and picked Apple Valley Dental Care after looking at some reviews. Happy I did. Everyone was really nice and put me at ease. Even though deep cleaning was needed, it was much more comfortable than I ever expected. The dentist talked to me and explained everything that needed to be done, and even went over what he would recommend I do for some services that they don't do (TMJ treatment), including explaining why they don't do it here, what the various routes are, why they'd recommend one route over the other and provided me with a referral. Very happy I came here. Will happily come back as long I live in the twin cities!

I'm very skittish around dentists, but I had a very calming experience at my first visit here. Bonnie was wonderful and heard my anxiety around aspects of the cleaning and was gentle, patient, and encouraging. I will definitely be back!

This is a very welcoming, nonjudgmental practice. I hadn't been to the dentist for several years, and even though I try to have good oral hygiene, you never know how it's going to be when you visit the dentist. There were no lectures, really friendly staff and the only thing that was at all scary or disconcerting is they now have HD cameras they can put in your mouth and show on the wall-mounted screens. Highly recommend.
