Dr. Elena Black is a native of Romania and brings over 14 years of professional dental education to the Lynchburg, VA community. Dr. Black is dedicated to providing exceptional orthodontic care for all of her patients. She believes staying current on the latest clinical and technological advancements within the field of orthodontics allows her to provide the best care available. She is an active member of numerous professional associations and has completed many years of schooling to provide just that. In addition to her passion for orthodontics, other special areas of interest include, sleep apnea treatment as well as using digital technology as a tool in treatment with braces and Invisalign. In her free time, Dr. Black enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys hiking, ice skating and traveling. She teaches at Boston University to educate the next generation of dentists on the importance and lifelong benefits of healthy smiles. Dr. Black holds the only AADSM Diplomate Designation in the Lynchburg, VA area. She is qualified to assess and treat patients with sleep conditions.

Walking into Dr. Black’s orthodontic office is like walking into a place of close friends and family. I was supposed to get braces when I was 12, but that got postponed until I was 24. I was very nervous about getting braces on as an adult, but I have truly loved being a part of the AOL family! I have only had my braces on for 4 months, but I can already tell a HUGE difference, and get complimented on my smile almost every day! I always brag on AOL and their wonderful staff for making this a truly enjoyable experience
We cannot say enough about Dr. Black and her amazing staff! Our 11-year-old suffers from anxiety, and the fear of headgear and braces was tremendous. I am beyond thankful for Dr. Black. I wanted to get my teeth aligned before our wedding day but didnt think I had the time. Dr. Black worked with me diligently to get my teeth looking perfect for our big day. I never thought my smile could look so great.
Dr. Black isnt like every other orthodontist you hear about. She takes the time before, during and after your treatment to explain every step and help you to meet your desired goals when it comes to your smile. She will explain the quickest but safest way to get your desired outcome. I am so thankful to have her as my orthodontist!

Dr. Black and her staff are top notch! I was self conscious about my lower teeth being crooked. I used Invisalign and am now very happy with how my teeth look!

Dr Black has an awful beside manner. I also didn't appreciate her trying to buy my review when we were done with her services. She also has a high turnover rate of employees. I would not recommend this place.

You will not find a practice quite like this one. This is my 2nd child to experience dr black and her amazing team of professionals and if my last 2 need her they will be here as well. The atmosphere is extraordinary and the staff are dedicated. When they ask you how they can make you smile when you call the office they mean it. No waiting area like any other is hers. So very comfortable and euphoric. If you need an orthodontist she is the one. A++++++ we love you guys

Dr. Black and her team are AMAZING! Multiple times she has met me after hours to make adjustments for both my children when something felt off or was uncomfortable for them. She has a servants heart and cares deeply for her patients and their family. As a health care provider myself, I can honestly say she is remarkable and her bedside manner is best in class and second to none!

Appalachian orthodontics is one of those rare hidden gem businesses that actually care about their patients like they are their own family members. I have never felt more heard and appreciated at a business. She treats me like I am her own daughter. She is so caring, attentive, and authentic. Her entire staff is super professional and they are very prompt. I almost wish she hadn't done such a good job on my teeth so that I could keep going to her. I got Invisalign and was done within a year now I am in the retainer phase. Even though I am done with treatment technically, anytime I have a concern not matter how small, she still squeezes me into the schedule and listens to me and tries to help me find a solution. I can't recommend her business enough to people. I talk about her business with anyone who is willing to listen. If you are wondering if you should get Invisalign or braces or just want someone to consult with to see if you're a good orthodontic candidate, please give Dr Black's office a try. There is absolutely no pressure to buy anything, they just want what's best for you and will not recommend things just to get money. They actually care and they want whatever's best for you even if you don't choose them as the place where you go. It's definitely worth a consult. The process was so easy, so painless, and I would go to them again and again if I had to. The community outreach that Dr Black participates in is also one of the drawing factors I had toward her business. She is always collecting food and other items for the community and trying to perform outreach projects. She is a saint. Thank you for everything Dr. Black you are amazing, seriously!!!

Our family LOVES Dr Black! She is seeing three of us at this time and we have been so pleased with our care. Her staff is friendly and compassionate and she will answer any questions you have. Definitely recommend to her to anyone. She is also not afraid to Invisalign even when others won't. She is comfortable with that approach due to her extensive and continuous training. In short, she's awesome and you won't regret trusting her with your orthodontic care!!!
