What is the role of an Advanced Dental Therapist? An Advanced Dental Therapist is a Dental Therapist who obtains advanced practice certification by obtaining additional education, completing 2000 hours of supervised clinical practice and passing a MN Board of Dentistry certification examination. A certified Advanced Dental Therapist is authorized to perform additional services and is also able to provide all services in clinical or community settings where there is no dentist on site. All Advanced Dental Therapists must be supervised by a Minnesota-licensed dentist.
