We are a family dental practice serving the Triangle area since 1998. We have a wonderful team of Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants, and Patient Care Coordinators. They all have been long-term employees of the practice and love to assist patients to achieve good oral health. Our office is constantly updated with new technology and our staff is continuously trained to ensure patients receive the best and latest care. We adhere to the highest infection control standards. Our office is open Monday thru Thursday with some Fridays. We welcome new patients and file most insurance claims.
Dr. Tina Shih is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Dentistry. She furthered her studies in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at UNC-CH. She also served as an adjunct clinical professor at the UNC dental school. She is a member of UNC Board of Visitors.
Dr. Shih has resided in the Triangle area since 1984. She attended Sanderson High School in Raleigh. She did her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is passionate about providing gentle and quality dental care to the community. She established Apex General Dentistry in 1998. Dr. Shih and her team would like to continue treating and maintaining healthy smiles for you and your family.
Connie: Dental Assistant Connie has been a certified dental assistant for almost thirty years. She was born and raised in Raleigh. She enjoys spending time with her family. She likes cooking, camping, gardening and traveling. The mountains is her favorite place to relax. She loves the dental field and strives to make each patient's experience a great one.
Mattie: Dental Assistant Mattie graduated Wake Technical Community College in 1993 achieving certification through the Dental Assisting National Board. She is an excellent clinician and enjoys being a part of a team that puts patient care and quality first. In her free time she enjoys reading, long walks and rooting for her husband and four children in their many endeavors.
Kelli: Dental Hygienist Kelli was born and raised in Cary. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 1998. She enjoys educating her patients to achieve and maintain a healthy smile. In her spare time she loves boating, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her family.
Laura: Dental Hygienist Laura has been practicing dental hygiene since 2006. She graduated from Lorain County Community College and is licensed in Ohio, South Carolina and North Carolina. She loves working in such a great field where she is able to help people and takes pride in the amount of care she gives each patient's oral health needs and goals. Originally from Ohio, Laura has been living in the Apex area since 2014. In her free time she enjoys traveling and going out on the lake with her husband and 3 children. She also enjoys rooting for Cleveland sports and going to her children's sporting events which keeps her busy all year round.

Dr. Shih is very friendly and really consider patient's needs instead of earning money from you. The staff are all nice. If you are looking for a dentist that care about you, Dr. Shih is the right one for you. Sean

Dr. Shih, Kelly and the whole team are absolutely fantastic! That's not an exaggeration. Our family went to a different dentist for about two years when we moved here and that dentist always wanted to do all sorts of unnecessary dental work on us just to make money off of us. Dr. Shih has never done that. And Dr. Shih has always been very careful in treating us to make sure we never experienced any pain from fillings or dental work. I hope she never retires. Earlier review: Dr. Shih is a fantastic dentist. Besides her skills as a highly competent dentist, she is very friendly and my wife and I trust her 100%. Our previous dentist would continually recommend dental procedures that we didn't need. But because our previous dentist saw that there was additional unused insurance funds in our account, that dentist always tried to get us to have totally unnecessary dental procedures. Sadly, from what I have heard from other people in this area, there are more than a few dentists that try to take advantage of their patients. Dr. Shih's staff is also fantastic. They do great work and they are also really friendly and helpful. We'd highly recommend Dr. Shih to anyone.

The staff was professional and courteous from the beginning to the end of the visit. This was my wife's first time to a dentist in the States. The staff was informative and explained everything that was going on. We would highly recommend their services to anyone. Extremely knowledgeable.

The entire staff continues in their quest for excellence. Even while adhering to all Covid 19 protocols they made my visit very pleasurable while making me feel very safe. As always, Dr. Shih and every team member made me feel as if I was a special patient. Kudos to them all!

I have been going to Dr. Shih for years now. She and her staff are very friendly and really do care about their patients. They will always ask you during the dental visit how you are feeling. They go the extra mile to make sure you are well. So many people are afraid of going to the dentist, but their staff wants to make sure you are well during the visit.

Everyone in the office from reception to oral hygienists to Dr. Shih are wonderful. They provide skilled dentistry with kindness. The office provides timely scheduling and are very accommodating when unexpected dental issues occur.

Apex General Dentistry conducted themselves with exceptional professionalism during my whole visit. As a new patient who just moved to the area, it can be difficult finding new providers. Dr. Shih and her staff, Kelli, and Connie were friendly and professional. They explained the plan for the session what to expect as they worked, and gave future timeliness for ideal maintenance of my teeth (6 month cleanings). From check in to check out, this office was phenomenal and I would recommend it.

This is a rather wonderful practice! Everyone working here is extremely friendly, and even the dynamics among the staff (and Dr. Shih herself) feel so peaceful and amiable. Dr. Shih is one of the most gentle souls I have ever met. She treats her patients with incredible patience and tenderness, and always has the patients' best interests at heart. She is also very knowledgeable and skilled. (One time I was at the office of the endodontist she referred me to, and I overheard the endodontist talking to his assistant in the hallway about how beautiful Dr. Shih's work was. So apparently her skills are acknowledged by her colleagues as well.) I feel very fortunate to be Dr. Shih's patient and be taken care of by her. All thanks to her, going to the dentist is no longer a scary experience!

Apex General Dentistry is, by far, the best...! Anne, Kelli, Connie, and of course Dr. Shih are all extremely friendly, skilled, and professional. I've been going to them for 15+ years, and for the past 3 years traveled 3 hours for my appointments; well worth the drive.
