Endodontics is the dental specialty that deals with the dental pulp inside of a tooth. Within the dental pulp are the tooth nerves. When a tooth is compromised, the inside can be susceptible to decay. An endodontist treats the inside of the tooth in order to save the tooth structure.
Our primary goal is to save your natural teeth whenever possible. Root canal, or endodontic, treatment may be necessary when the pulp tissue inside the root canals of a tooth becomes infected or damaged, which can be caused by dental trauma or decay. The pulp, which is located inside the root canals, contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. A tooth generally has between one and four root canals. A root canal procedure may be performed on a single root canal or multiple root canals within a tooth.
Dr. Barsemian, founder of Apex Endodontics, attended the University of Montreal for his dental degree where he was on the deans list every semester. He was awarded the American Association of Endodontists annual student award. He obtained his Endodontic training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was listed in Americas Top Dentist by the Consumer Research Council of America: 2003 through 2017. He was also voted as one of New Jerseys Top Dentists for sevenconsecutive years (2009-2017) by his peers ina survey conducted byNew Jersey Monthly magazine. Dr. Barsemian has been providing endodontic care since 2001. He was formerly a partner in a multi-office practice located in South Jersey.
He has been trained in the latest technology such as the use of rotary instrumentation with obturation using the system B and the obtura. He also uses the surgical operating microscope routinely for endodontic treatment as well as microsurgery. He believes most root canals can be completed in one visit. He has lectured on both endodontic treatment and microsurgery and was also a part time instructor at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Endodontics. Presently, Dr. Barsemian is on the teaching staff of Morristown Medical Centers Dental clinic.
Dr. Barsemian is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey dental Association, the Union County Dental Society, the Central Jersey Dental society, the American Association of Endodontists, and the Tri County Dental Society where he served as president 2010-11. He is the Director of ApexSeminars, a study club for dentists and dental specialists.Dr. Barsemian strives to provide the highest endodontic care possible in a friendly and comforting environment.
