Dr. English is an Alabama native. He grew up around the Birmingham area and attended Mississippi State University for his Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. English completed his dental education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996.
In October 1996, following graduation, Dr. English opened his private practice in Pelham, AL. He sold his practice in 2010 & moved to North Alabama to be closer to his family. For the last 4 years, Dr. English has worked for several group practices and expanded his expertise into many different fields of dentistry. Apex Dental is the culmination of his vision for the future of dentistry with new & innovative ways of providing dental care.
Outside the office, Dr. English enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, playing guitar, & adding to his extensive vinyl record collection. Dentistry is his passion but music is a close second.
Dr. Ethan Dutton Dr. Ethan Dutton was born and raised in Lancaster, South Carolina. Dr. Dutton earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina, and then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. While studying at MUSC Dr. Dutton was published for his research studying three-dimensional scanning technologies in dentistry. He is an active member of The American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and The Alabama Dental Association
As a part of his firm commitment to dental innovation. Dr. Dutton keeps abreast of the newest developments in his field. He currently offers TRIOS award winning intraoral scanning technology, digital cosmetic imaging, and a variety of other advanced technologies.
Olivia Olivia is our Lead Dental Assistant and newly graduated Hygienist. Her pleasant and calming demeanor puts her patients right at ease. She loves traveling and going to concerts with her friends. She also loves spending time with her family, dalmatian Riley, attending church and babysitting
Cora Cora is a Certified Dental Assistant. She graduated from the Calhoun Community College dental assisting program. She enjoys helping her patients gain confidence with their smile. She is newly married and her and her new husband love riding motorcycles and exploring new places
Michelle Michelle is our Lead Dental Hygienist. While she is new to our Apex Dental team, she has over 10 years of hygiene experience. She grew up in Michigan but relocated here 13 years ago with her husband. Her free time is spent juggling extracurricular activities with her three daughters and traveling whenever they can

I went here this morning with and urgent request. The nurses were great but the doctor was very uncompassionate and unbothered by my pain and did not seem to want to help. I was in extreme pain and came with urgent request and they were clearly not busy and I was not helped properly or put first as a patient. Lastly I notice they overcharge heavily as of then I have gone and gotten several quote on how much this will be and is hundredS of dollars less and to mention much better service at other places in the area. This was so disappointing. Do not recommend.

I am so impressed! I had lost a filling cap, and my regular dentist couldn't see me today and the receptionist said it would be Thursday before they could make an appointment. I called Apex Dental on Rainbow Drive and they gave me an appointment that day in less than two hours from the time I called. Dr. Dutton, Rochelle and Savannah were friendly, thorough, professional and caring. I highly recommend them for any dental services.

First and foremost, the staff and Dr. Dutton are SO friendly. I'm a fan of great customer service, & it was provided! I instantly felt welcomed. The wait time was minimal & my cleaning was done thoroughly but in a very timely manner. They made sure to explain any issues, asked me about my areas of concern, & created a personalized dental treatment plan tailored to me! We had some issues with my insurance, but they were on top of getting things handled & didn't leave me to just figure it out by myself or force me to pay out-of-pocket because of technical issues. That really showed me how much they care about their patients and want to ensure we always have a positive experience. Going the extra mile is always appreciated! I can definitely say I've found my dental home!

Very clean office and friendly staff. Dr. Dutton was very knowledgeable and helpful. Makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience!

I have been going to the dentist and periodontist regularly for the past 3 years, having teeth pulled in preparation for dental implants. I just moved to Athens from Florida and had not yet gotten established with a dentist. Yesterday, my loose tooth became so painful, I was searching the area for a dental practice and found Apex Dental....thank goodness! I called this morning, they got me in this afternoon as a new patient! The office is new and clean and beautiful. Caroline took great care of me prior to seeing Dr. Dutton. Dr. Dutton reviewed the x-rays with me and explained that the tooth could not be saved. The numbing shot did not hurt at all! The tooth removed was way in the back, and that's usually where the shots hurt me the most. I barely felt it. I had no pain during the extraction. It was fast and it was painless...I have never said that before about any dental experience before today. I am so grateful I found Apex Dental. Thank you to the nice lady that scheduled my appointment, the receptionist that checked me in, Caroline, and Dr. Dutton for taking good care of me! I have found my dentist in Alabama!

If you have dental anxiety, the staff here will help you! They made me feel comfortable, gave me great news for my teeth when a previous dentist told me I needed work that ended up not being necessary. Friendly staff. Clean environment. Efficient, and smooth procedures.
