Dr. Marc M. Gottlieb was born and raised here on Long Island. After graduation from Lindenhurst H.S. he attended Union College in Schenectady, New York. He graduated with thesis honors in biology and then shuffled off to Buffalo. While at the University of Buffalo he received many academic scholarships, awards and fellowships.
After graduation from dental school Dr. Gottlieb went on to a two year post-graduate residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. At the Medical Center he received advanced training in dental anesthesiology and all the specialties of dentistry. That included but was not limited to advanced training in Root Canals, Oral Surgery, Dentures, and Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a leading authority in I.V. (intravenous) and Oral Sedation.
Dr. Gottlieb recognized the need for a Long Island dentist who catered to treating patients with mild to severe dental anxiety. Many patients avoid dental care until its a true dental emergency. He is one of the few dentists that is a fully trained and licensed dental anesthesiologist. This means that he has the ability to offer a wide range options to reassure and comfort patients with dental anxiety. Anxiety Free Dental is a family dental practice and treats the family members of anxious patients as well. The youngest patient treated was 18 months and the oldest 103. Often multiple procedures can be performed in a single visit.
He has built his practice around caring, compassion and a total commitment to providing residents of Commack area and beyond with the highest quality dental care at reasonable prices. Dr. Gottlieb recently was invited and attended the American Dental Associations Champions of Evidence Based Dentistry (EBD) program. This training will allow him to bring the most current knowledge and technology to you as the patient and the entire dental community. The evidence is clear, fluoride varnish is better than fluoride gel for young patients at risk for getting cavities. Dental sealants are not for everyone. Its not clear if every tooth with a root canal will need a crown or cap. You must take into account the patients habits and how much of the tooth is remaining. Everyone on our staff realizes the patient always comes first. Susan answers our phones, helps process your insurance claims and can explain our fees. She will be very happy to call your insurance company to help explain your dental benefits. Everyone in the office works with the dentist to help answer any questions or concerns you might have.
Katherine is the doctors personal assistant and office utility person. We all know her as Kat. She recently graduated from Columbia University, where she studied Psychology. Katherine hopes to pursue a career in dentistry.
Her interest developed very early in college, when attending various medical and dental related events. After listening to dental professionals talk about their career and work, she was inspired to do same! Kat wants to be a dentist because it combines her interests in science and art. She sees how remodeling or recreating an individuals smile can have a big impact.She plans to finish a masters program and then apply to dental school to enroll fall 2016.
I am a general dentist with advanced residency training in the management of the apprehensive, unmanageable and medically compromised patient. I utilize every modality from tender loving care to general anesthesia.

Went to Dr Gottlieb with my Xrays from another dentist. He took a look at them and saw how nervous I was. Yeah I needed a root canal and a cavity filled. Today was the day I got both of those things done! When I came in everything went so smooth. The staff is amazing! They don't judge you for having anxiety and wanting to be sedated. They gave me options however I wanted the IV sedation. Now I have hard to find veins and Dr Gottlieb found them right away. He was so calming and comforting. If I ever need dental work, which I'm sure I do, I'll most certainly be coming back. !

Worst dentist I've been to by far. I came to Dr. Gottlieb for a root canal and we ended up coming to the conclusion I also needed a cavity filled. I let him know that I had bad anxiety especially with dentists and procedures. I made the appointment knowing that I wanted intravenous sedation. I showed up to my procedure appointment and Dr. Gottlieb tried to convince me to try this drink instead of the IV sedation. Firstly if someone is coming to you and their mind is set on IV sedation why try and change their mind? That just upped my anxiety even more. He was so cringey and made it so awkward, kept grabbing my hand and squeezing explaining that's the only pain I would feel, anyway, I tried the drink and sat in a room for a half hr. which basically was wasting my time AND his. Eventually he saw that I was still antsy and gave me the IV. The whole thing was so awkward and didn't even relieve the pain I was having. Thanks Doc!

Very Helpful on the phone and the price quoted is by far the lowest I have been given for Sedation dentist work. Will definitely do all my dentist work. I have a fear of the dentist all my life due to severe pain during extraction as a child so wish me luck! hopefully all these wonderful reviews are on point.

What a great office. I had a horrible toothache for weeks and they treated me right away and my pain was gone. My fear of the dentist is gone.

This is the best dentist I have ever been too! If you have any fear or anxiety over getting dental work done this is who you need to see! I had a wisdom tooth pulled today and Dr Gottleib and his entire staff made me feel comfortable and at ease through the whole thing. I highly recommend them and will be telling everyone I know this is where to go!
