Dr. Bennardo received his degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois in 1990. He then went on to complete the Advanced General Dentistry residency program at Northwestern University Dental School where he expanded his skills working with dental specialists in every discipline of dentistry.
After being diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea in 2014, Dr. Bennardo's desire to help his patients with their overall health was elevated to an even higher level. This prompted him to devote hundreds of hours in advanced training in Dental Sleep Medicine and Nutrition.
He is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and serves as a board member for the International Academy of Sleep. Dr. Bennardo is also a Board Certified Diplomate in the American Sleep and Breathing Academy and is the treating doctor for Chicagoland NFL players with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Dr. Bennardo attends Harvest Bible Chapel in Elgin, where he serves as a Men's Small Group leader and volunteers on the Worship Team playing acoustic guitar with some well known Christian artists. His hobbies include Snow Skiing, Surfing, Scuba Diving, Exercising and Tennis.
I met Dr. Bennardo in 2002 while we were both involved with Elgin Junior Service Board which was a health based organization that provided dental care for students in School District U-46. After I saw the compassion and professionalism his office provided each student that I brought into his office, I knew he would become my lifelong dentist. Now, I enjoy working with a team that believes in giving each patient the best care possible. I'm a very busy mom of two teenage daughters. We enjoy boating and spending time watching them ride their horses.
I received my dental hygiene degree from Harper College in 2017. I pursued a career in dental hygiene because I had always loved going to the dentist growing up. I hope to give all of my patients the same positive experience. I enjoy teaching my patients about the importance of oral health. In my free time I love playing tennis, walking my dogs, and spending time with my family and friends.
SMART is the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique, which is a set of safety measures to reduce mercury exposures during dental amalgam filling removal. These safety measures were developed as a result of scientific research collected by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT).
All dental amalgams, also referred to as silver fillings, contain 50% mercury (a neurotoxin) which is constantly released in the form of an invisible vapor. The process of drilling out amalgam fillings releases even higher quantities of mercury vapor and fine particulates that can be inhaled and absorbed through the lungs. This potentially harmful to patients, dentists, other dental workers, and the fetuses of patients and all dental personnel.
Dentists who have obtained SMART certification from the IAOMT have completed coursework related to mercury and the safe removal of amalgam fillings. The educational programming includes learning about the application of the rigorous safety measures, including the utilization of specific equipment. To maintain SMART certification, Dr. Bennardo enrolls in the program annually to review all safety measures.

Dr. Bennardo and team are amazing. They worked hard to save and repair a difficult tooth and it turned out so beautiful. I am grateful to have found them. This is truly a holistic dental practice. Dr. Bennardo looks out for your long term health by avoiding treatments that are toxic and he understands the effects that dentistry has on the entire body.

Everyone in the office makes you feel welcomed, and are very approachable. The atmosphere in the office is friendly and will make you feel Shalom, a Godlly peace throughout your visit. I feel blessed when they are working on my teeth and I can listen to Godly music.

Dr. Bennardo is a world class dentist. He understands what is required to get mercury out of your mouth safely. He is also trained in heavy metal chelation and helped guide me in the right direction post removal. He treats you like family and makes sure you're protected and comfortable. I won't go into detail with my heavy metal situation but I was in GOOD hands during and post removal. If you're searching for the best - there's no need to look further. Lastly, his facility is top notch and his staff exceeded expectations.

This may sound strange, but I feel grateful to have found Dr. Bennardo and his team. He clearly keeps up to date with the very best in dentistry and health and wellness, and takes pride in giving excellent care. I feel like he and his whole team genuinely care about me as a patient and as a fellow human, and made sure I felt comfortable, and that my concerns were addressed. I didn't know going to the dentist could leave me so impressed, and with the feeling that I'm in really good hands, getting the best dental care. I had a fantastic experience with the hygienist and also with mercury removal and fillings on 7 teeth at once. His name gets dropped to all my friends!

Dr. Bennardo and his staff are awesome. Everyone is caring and friendly. We moved 3 hours away 5 years ago. Recently I needed a 2nd opinion on a serious dental issue that was occurring. I needed to talk to someone that I knew and trusted. That was Dr. Bennardo! I called and got in the next day. I drove 3 hours to meet with him. He spent lots of time with me and I loved his advise! I have too many fantastic experiences to share. I'm 58 years old and have had several great dentist's in the suburbs of Chicago. 25 years ago a dentist in Arlington Heights area was retiring but he specialized in gold inlays and onlays? yup 25 years later Dr Bernardo has been replacing them. I can tell you the time when I was in my truck on New Years Eve waiting for the new year with insurance....but the impacted infected root canal I needed didn't know what the date was. I stopped in Baltimore MD for antibiotics and when I hit my destination in Florida, I flew back to Chicago to see Dr Bennardo, of course we had a phone consult and he said he would do everything in one day....if I wished. Flew in and next day was in the chair for 5.5 hours. The fixing, nurturing, one day no return visits. I recommend my family of course and anyone else that will listen that he is the BEST. full disclosure not the least expensive and he might be higher than others. I had others and there is nothing worse than seeing a non confident Dr/ Dentist. there are many awesome procedures he conducted on my family. I affectionately call him 'the mad scientist', not sure if he cares for that moniker but I'm son happy we made a Dr/ patient connection 20 years ago.

It was a great experience. The place is super nice, and welcoming. The staff is wonderful. I like their holistic approach. Dr. Bernard was incredibly helpful, took his time, no rush. He explained all my options and he was very honest and referred me out, not pushing to do any unnecessary mouth work.

I am so thankful to have found your practice. I have dental trauma from years of various dentists since my childhood and lots of dental issues because I was never properly educated or trained, didn't practice good habits and was afraid to go to the dentist. In the second half of my life and finally feel like I have a handle on it as a result of your help and expertise. I appreciate so much that Dr. Bennardo looks at more than what's on the surface but also the underlying health issues. I know I'm in good hands by how excited he is to share how he can help. Everyone in the office is kind, considerate and respectful. It's funny because he always says I don't want to scare you as he shares what my teeth need but I'm not scared because I know I am receiving the best care. Dr. Bennardo and their staff is easily one of my favorite moments in my life, twice a year. Barb is always so sweet and every time, they never disappoint and genuinely care for my health, beyond just my teeth. Mental and physical health is a huge priority for their business, and some may think it's overbearing, I think it's them CHECKING EVERY BOX, ensuring positivity through a healthy image. Today, Tessa was my hygienist and provided top notch care and conversation. I have been a patient for 17 years. Unless I move, I will never see another dentist, as his staff is superiorly trained, supportive, transparent, proactive and super nice. Much love Dr B!

I am never a fan of going to the dentist! Lol not sure of many that are! But every time over the many years I go to Dr. Bennardo's I am always reminded why I stick with him and his crew. Everyone is so nice and attentive and welcoming and actually listen to you and go above and beyond to work with you and your situation and you know it's not just about the money but they really care and they seem to educate me every time I am there and as crazy as it is they tend to find things out about me when my primary doctor does not. Weather it's migraine headaches due to grinding of the teeth to having heart burn at night. Leading to aggravated throat So it's my pleasure to give them 5 stars!!
