I am excited to have this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you, my name is Anshu S. Kumar. I have purchased the office of Dr. Gary W. Volz. What is in fact so exciting to me is how similar Dr.Volz and I truly are, we even have the same birthday. While selecting an office we were advised to look for somebody of equal ethics, compassion and core dental skills. I am honored that Dr.Volz chose me, and elated that I found him along with this amazing staff!
I was raised in Michigan and completed 3 years of high school in Guilford Connecticut. It was in Michigan where I received both my bachelors and graduate degree through an accelerated 6 year program at The University of Detroit Mercy. I came back to Connecticut to enjoy the loving company of my parents as well as attend a general practice residency at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford Connecticut. I enjoy keeping up with the latest and greatest in dentistry so as to be most capable in your care. On weekends I break away from all things dental and enjoy decorating and spending time with my fresh out of the box husband.
It is with very mixed emotions that I am announcing my retirement. It has been an honor and a pleasure to take care of your dental needs all these years. I have always done my best for you to receive the highest level of dental care in our office. To ensure that level of care continues, I have done a careful and extensive search for the right dentist to assume my practice. I have chosen Dr. Anshu Kumar, who is not only a well-qualified and highly skilled dentist, but a very caring and compassionate person.
Dr. Kumar grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. She furthered her education by completing a general practice residency at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. She has been in private practice in Willimantic, Connecticut for the past five years. She and her husband live in Glastonbury.
I graduated from University of Bridgeport, Fones School of Dental Hygiene with a Bachelors of Science. I have been with the practice for over 20 years. I love connecting with my patients, trying to figure out together how we can take the time in our busy lives to care for our dental needs. After all, whole body health begins with a healthy mouth. I treasure watching your children grow from their first dental visits into high school and beyond becoming their own healthy beings. When Im not spending time with family or at the beach with friends I might be planning my next adventure with my best friend and travel buddy.
Sharon is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport, Fones School of Dental Hygiene and has been with the practice for 15 years. It has been a wonderful experience for her to see local families grow throughout her years in the practice. Sharon is a proud Mom to two teenage daughters. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
I was so excited to join Dr. Kumars friendly and welcoming staff. I am a graduate of Porter and Chester Dental Assisting program and certified in radiology. You will find me in the treatment rooms assisting Dr. Kumar or making sure whoever needs help gets it. Having been here a year I can confidently say I love working with Dr. Kumar. She has taught me so much, and her work is always flawless. I also enjoy working with Kate, Liz and Sharon. In my free time I like to spend time with my family, hang out with my friends (dinner, shopping, movies), and I love to travel. One day I would love to go to Dubai.

I've been going to the same practice all of my life starting with Dr Kiniry, then Dr Volz when he took over practice and now after his retirement, Dr Kumar. She is an excellent, caring, gentle, knowledgeable dentist! Like a lot of people, I have "dental phobia", thank goodness the staff always takes great care of me. They are top-notch, friendly and personable Highly recommend!

I've never been a fan of the dentist but Dr. Kumar is wonderful and makes the experience enjoyable (at least for a dentist visit)! Liz, the dental hygienist that I see every appointment, is the reason Ive been coming back for years! She's incredibly personable and makes every appointment feel like I'm visiting and catching up with a friend. She does a great job and gives me great tips to keep my teeth feeling clean and looking white. I cannot say enough great things about this place and will continue to keep going for years to come!

Dr. Kumar is the best ! :) Her and her staff always make me feel welcomed and comfortable. Dr. Kumar also does a great job in her explanations to the patient. Before we start the work I know exactly what's going on. She is very good at breaking things down in a way that is easy to understand. Always a good experience.

Dr. Kumar and her staff are incredible! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating of my crazy schedule. Dr. Kumar was very open and communicated what procedures needed to be done and why. Dr. Kumar also made recommendations based on her own personal experience, which I found very helpful. Not to mention how thorough she and her hygienist were during my cleaning and fillings. Very happy with the office, staff, and Dr. Kumar. Had a great experience and I have recommended her to many people who have had similar experiences. If you are looking for a modern and professional dentist, she is the doctor to see!
