Originally from northern Michigan, Dr. Newman moved to Roanoke in 2013 with her husband Jeff. They enjoy spending their weekends running, biking, hiking and exploring all that the valley has to offer with their daughters, Riley and Maren, and their dog, Eva.
Dr. Newman received her Bachelor of Science in Music from the University of Michigan and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Following a year in general practice residency at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, she worked for a private practice group in the Roanoke Valley to help build a practice from scratch. She joined Sandra Andrew, DDS in January 2016, transitioning the practice as Dr. Andrew retired. Dr. Newman continues to expand her education through extensive coursework including the continuing education curriculum through the prestigious Pankey Institute as well as the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
In addition to continuing education, Dr. Newman is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Piedmont Dental Society, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has completed leadership development programs through Leadership Roanoke Valley, Roanoke College and the Virginia Dental Association. Over the past several years, Dr. Newman has volunteered with the Mission of Mercy dental program, the Fralin Dental Clinic at the Rescue Mission and the Bradley Free Clinic. Currently she serves on the board for the Roanoke Valley Dental Society.

During my time off I like to travel, be outdoors, spend time with family and friends, experience new things, listen to music, dance, and have a good time! When Im not on the go I enjoy relaxing at home and spending time with my two cats Henley and Nicks (named after Don Henley and Stevie Nicks two of my favorite musicians).
Caroline Scherer Hello, my name is Caroline. My husband, Doug, and I moved to Roanoke from Florida in 2018. While in Florida, I completed a Dental Hygiene program in 1998 and have been in a private practice setting ever since.
Dr. Newman has a wonderful team, and I am very thankful to be a part of it. I enjoy helping patients achieve and maintain a healthy smile. I want each patient to feel informed, encouraged and cared for when they leave my dental chair.
When I am not working, you will find me driving around and shopping with my dog Zoey. I love to travel and explore new restaurants, but Covid 19 is taking that of my schedule for a while. Now, Doug and I do brunch at home, read and watch some Netflix.
Susan Oyler Hi! My name is Susan. I have been a dental hygienist for over 34 years. By far the best part of my job is the patients! I love meeting new people and developing a rapport and friendship with patients. I like to treat people the way I would like to be treated. I will do everything I can to help keep our patients smiles healthy and beautiful! Our team here at Dr. Newmans office go above and beyond to make sure each patient has a great dental experience!
Elly McConnel Hi, Im Elly. I grew up in La Plata, Maryland on a 500 acre farm. I became a dental assistant shortly after graduating from high school working for my family dentist. I have a passion for dentistry and over the years have continued to learn and expand my duties. I began working with Dr. Newman in 2015 (while employed in a group practice), then returned to work for her in this office in November 2017.
I enjoy patio gardening and recently started refurbishing furniture. Most of my time revolves around my wonderful grown children: three sons (one daughter-in-law) and a daughter (son-in-law). However, my life has been largely enhanced when I became Oma to one very adorable grandson.
Dr. Newman and her husband rescued Eva from the Blount County Animal Shelter in Tennessee as an adult dog. She has been a loyal companion for their family since 2013. Always up for an adventure, Eva loves walks with the family, camping and chasing squirrels and deer. Her other hobbies include napping by the fire or listening to Riley read stories. Update: Per popular patient request, Eva spent many Thursdays in the office. Unfortunately due to age and spatial sensitivity, she is no longer joining us on-site. However, she continues to support us from home!

For anyone who has ever had anxiety or some kind of worry about going to the dentist, I highly recommend this dentist office for your next appointment. It was my first time there today and needless to say I was riddled with anxiety about the outcome and the pain involved in the procedure but Anne Newman DDS was extremely kind, thoughtful and really put my mind at ease. She carefully went over my information seeing that it was my first time there. She explained the options to me and listened to any concerns I had. The staff was wonderful and very polite. The atmosphere was relaxed. I really recommend going here for your dental care. I hardly experienced any pain. They did a wonderful job of numbing the area before they started. They will take great care of you.

Just had my first visit with a dentist that shows their experience in their work. I couldn't even feel the needle go into the area she was working on. Dr Newman made me feel at ease while working on my teeth which is really hard to do. I enjoyed my first visit and will be going there from now on.

Dr. Newman is wonderful! She has been taking care of my husband and I for years now, and my husband has had numerous challenging dental issue. Dr Newman has been thorough and effective throughout. She and her staff are friendly and caring. I highly recommend this practice

As a long time "DSC" (dental scaredy cat); a recent chipped front tooth sent me in search of a dentist. With one phone call, I had no idea I was about to find the perfect dental office with Dr. Anne Newman. (Cue angels singing)...From the sweet receptionist Anna to Ellie's kind and friendly demeanor as dental assistant and certainly the personable, soft spoken, gentle, and knowledgeable Dr. Anne herself...my old scaredy cat fears were no longer! So much so, once my front tooth looked better than new, I did something I had never done before... booked a future appointment for a regular dental regimen to be planned out with Dr. Anne.... who knew that with that one phone call, I had discovered the best dental office in Roanoke? I know and want you to know!!!

Dr. Newman is a 'miracle worker'. I recently lost a filling that left me praying fervently that I would not actually 'lose' the tooth. Anne was able to provide a miraculous repair that was truly unbelievable! She was straightforward about the potential problems, consequences, and the steps she had to take to complete the process. I am so thankful to have such a competent and extraordinary dentist like her. She takes time to sit, talk, and 'catch up' from last appointments before the visits - and makes you feel that you are uniquely special. Thanks Dr. Neman and your staff for your excellence service!!

I unfortunately chipped a tooth (and discovered a cavity ugh) and was a bit terrified of getting it fixed. Dr. Newman and her team were friendly, gentle, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I almost fell asleep in the chair it was so comfortable! I'll definitely be going back in the future!
