I've been a patient at Ann Arbor Smiles most of my life and it's always been a positive and enjoyable experience. A recent visit to the Pediatric location with my daughter was no different. Everyone who works there is incredibly kind and easy to work with. The office is exceptionally clean and has some little added touches (chalk wall, coffee bar, bottled water, etc.) to make the experience that much better for kids and their parents. The hygienists and dentists communicate clearly, with me and my daughter, and they provide excellent care. Like me, my daughter will most likely be a lifelong Smiles patient.

I can not say enough good things about this office, the staff and Dr. Heather. We actually were at an oral surgeon who referred us to her in an emergency situation. Dr. Heather got us in that day to give my 6 year old a full exam. Not only did she fit him in (the office was super busy) but she spent at least an hour with us, explaining everything, and taking the time to make sure my son and I were comfortable with the exam and his future dental plan. He has always been scared of going to the dentist (so much so that he hadn't ever had thorough exam) and Dr. Heather and the team was SO good with him. I couldn't believe that not only did he get an exam but there were barely any tears. Dr. Heather not only let me stay in the room with him, but let me be be close enough to hold my sons hand, I swear I was practically on top of her and I know I was completely in the way and she didn't even mention it and was fine with whatever we needed to do to keep my son comfortable. I am honestly so thankful for this office. We have been there a few times since our initial appointment and have continued to have good experiences. My son's review is that he would like a few more tokens throughout his appointment to get prizes because clearly that is his favorite part. :) I would recommend Dr. Heather to anyone who needs a good pediatric dentist.

Both of my children have had a great experience with Dr. Hoffman. She is very warm and welcoming. My daughter had to have a filling and Heather did an amazing job (my daughter didnt even know she received a shot). She was all smiles afterwards and enjoys going to the dentist. Dr. Hoffman is also a good communicater and I received good information and a comprehensive plan.

I took all three of my kids here, thinking a pediatric dentist would be best for my toddlers, who are often afraid in medical situations. They would only see two kids at a time, not everyone all at once, meaning I had to make two trips instead of one. Both times I was there, no one was at the desk to greet us and we had to stand there waiting for someone to walk up and take care of us. The dental hygienist was very pleasant, but both times the dentist breezed in and didn't introduce herself to either me or my kids, one of whom is 13 years old. She just came in and started examining them. She mainly spoke to the hygienist and breezed out without ever really speaking to me and if she did it was so brief that I don't even remember it. No one could tell me how much things would cost and I was told to wait a week, maybe two, before scheduling the fillings for my daughter so they could verify insurance. After all that, when I called to schedule the fillings they could only give me an estimate and said they'd have to run it through insurance to get a clearer picture of the cost I would have. As for my son, he was very scared to be there. I don't fault them for that at all. But again the dentist breezed in and didn't introduce herself to me or my kid. He did well with the hygienist but the dentist came in and she's a stranger sticking her fingers in my 4 year old's mouth and he did not like that. He started gagging, because he gags and puked when he gets very upset. I told them this. They could not give him a proper exam due to his behavior and could not get X-rays on him, but said he had two big cavities they could see with the naked eye during the cleaning with the hygienist. They recommended to me that he have a two hour appointment and IV sedation. The IV sedation would require me to pay $1,800 for an anesthesiologist to come to their office and administer it, on top of the cost of the dental work which would be partly covered by insurance. I requested that before we jumped to this extremely invasive (and honestly traumatic for a toddler) and costly step that we try to get a proper exam and X-rays using nitrous. They basically told me no. I will not go back to this office. I canceled my daughter's filling appointment and scheduled with another pediatric dentist as I did not care for the bedside manner (or whatever you call it for a dentist) of the dentist and the fact that they wanted to jump to the most invasive and most expensive option for my son and refusing to try anything else first.

We had a successful appointment in July. My daughter needs An extraction. I was told that I would be getting a call to schedule that surgery. Here we are the beginning of September I have yet to hear anything back I also called back in August just to make sure they remembered and I was told the same thing we'll make sure you'll be getting that call. Here we are September I have yet to receive that call. Now here we are it's time for kids to go back to school my daughter will be in school full time but because the lack of the professionalism in this office. I'm going to have to take her out school for numerous days to find somewhere else to take her and then for her to have surgery/recovery. If you didn't have the tools necessary or the staff it should have been made clear instead of saying We're going to contact you to set up her surgery I could have been went elsewhere and got it done in the summer versus playing the waiting game and believing a business when they tell me you'll hear from us soon. Just to be clear on dates her appointment was July 15th 2022. Here we are September 7th 2022. I'll probably be getting a call today because I called and left voicemail

I am so grateful for the excellent care we received for my child who is usually very anxious during dental visits. Dr Hoffman took her time explaining the procedure, showing my child the tools, and answering all their questions. Dr Hoffman showed empathy, patience and excellent care throughout our visit. The other staff were equally knowledgeable and friendly. We are happy to finally have found an excellent pediatric dentist in our area.
