It is immensely enjoyable to be able to work with kids and special needs patients on a daily basis. Every patient is unique, and every day brings about a handful of wonderful and genuine moments to remember.
Dr. Chris is a native of Michigan. His interest in dentistry began when he was a kid, enjoying visits to the dentist, and soon asked to spendTake Your Child to Work Day at thefamily dentists office instead of with his parents. This interest led him to eventually attend the University of Michigan where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology. He was then awarded a one-year post-baccalaureate fellowship to participate in research at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Chris attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. He worked for two years at a community health center in Everett, WA, to provide dental care to underserved patients before electing to pursue his interest in pediatric dentistry. He was accepted into the University of Iowa Pediatric Dentistryprogram and received two years of specialty training in the care and management of infants, children, and patients with special healthcare needs.
Upon receiving his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Chris joined the dental team at the Des Moines Health Center where he treated children of all ages in both the clinical and hospital settings. While there, he also served as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry to provide pediatric training to dental students while on their outreach rotation. He moved to Ankeny with his family and joined Ankeny Children's Dental in 2014.
As a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Chris is committed to constantly expanding his knowledge and understanding of his specialty. Each year he completes many hours of continuing education specific to pediatric dentistry in order to remain at the forefront of evidence-based dental care.
Dr. Chris resides in Ankeny with his wife, Ellen, and their three children: Julia, Will, and Brooks.When not working, Dr. Chris enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs, going to the park, and staying busy with his kids activities in soccer, gymnastics, dance, and art. He also enjoys listening to musicand is still one of the few who collects CDs. Although he is afan of the Michigan Wolverines, he has decided it is in his best interest to also root for the Hawkeyes!
As a mom, I understand the importance of having children feel comfortable and confident at the dentist. I strive to have positive and fun visits with each of my patients, which helps to establish a lifetime of good dental health.'
Dr. Julie graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree, with Honors, in Microbiology from the University of Iowa. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Julie practiced general dentistry in central Iowa for two years in private practice and as the staff dentist at ChildServe. It was during her years spent as a general dentist that she discovered her passion for treating children and patients with special health care needs. Dr. Julie returned to the University of Iowa for two additional years of specialized education and training in the treatment of infants, children, and patients with special health care needs in clinical and hospital settings. Upon completion of her training, she was awarded her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Julie has been practicing pediatric dentistry in central Iowa, including at the Des Moines Health Center, where she provided care for some of Iowas most underserved children. She has been a clinical adjunct faculty member of the University of Iowa in the department of Pediatric Dentistry, helping to teach dental students during their clinical training.

Originally from Bettendorf, Dr. Julie has resided in Ankeny since graduating from dental school in 2012. She and her husband, Nick, have two daughters, Abigail and Madeline, along with Riley, their family dog. When not seeing patients, Dr. Julie is most often found with her family though she makes sure to find time to cheer on the Hawkeyes, too!

Excellent practice - Dr. Chris does a wonderful job with both of my kids! When one of them broke a tooth he was compassionate, prompt and thorough. He provided different treatment options with rationale which really helped with informed decision making. Dr. Chris also followed up in the following days to see how my child was doing. The office staff is equally top notch from the assistants to front office and practice management! Our family (and many others we know) highly recommend Ankeny Children's Dental!

Dr. Julie is the best. She is so good with children and made my boys feel so comfortable. I've never seen them lay back and allow their teeth to be cleaned like they have while under her care. The prizes at the end made their day and they actually asked when they could go back!

Very pleased with the Hygienist. She was very bubbly and good with my four year old daughter! Dr Chis was good to. He was only in for a little bit but he seemed very nice. Will be going back!

My 5 year old was very scared when he was in the chair about to have his teeth cleaned and looked at. He wouldn't lay back and kept trying to get up. The girl that was working with us was so nice and patient and let him take his time. She didn't get mad or annoyed with him. She worked with us and eventually he let her clean his teeth. She was so nice and we are so happy we went here.

Wow! I absolutely love love LOVE this office. Dr. Chris Meyers, is nothing short of amazing. My Daughter has EXTREME anxiety and a super Hard time Going to the dentist, until Dr.Chris& his staff. He was so good with her and the staff was so insanely patient and helpful with her. We ended up having to have pretty extensive work done and they built us up to it perfectly and helped even myself and my husband transition into it. Even their business managers were great and helped us figure out to the dollar what to expect after insurance. I can't reccomend them enough. Thank you!
