Dr. Hunter attended UC Berkeley, where she received a BA in Genetics. She received her DDS degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon her return to the Bay Area, she taught DAU on the clinic floor at UCSF Dental School, before settling into her private practice in Livermore, and motherhood.
At first, she practiced dentistry in Livermore on a part time basis, in order to raise her sons. During their childhood, she was active volunteering for the local pre-schools and elementary schools, Little League, and Cub Scouts.
She has always pursued continuing education classes avidly. From 1994 to 1996 she attended the UCSF Miniresidency in Orofacial Pain. In 1996, having passed the board exams of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. She then went on to serve on the exam committee for that organization, helping to write questions for future board exams. She continues to attend both high level general dentistry classes and orofacial pain meetings throughout the country.
Now that her sons are grown, she has turned her full attention to providing high quality dental care and the treatment of orofacial pain to the Livermore community. In her new, state-of-the-art facility she is able to practice full time, including Saturday hours.
Marina was raised in the Central Valley and moved to the Bay Area a few years ago with her husband and their children. Whenever I think of why I chose the dental field, it always takes me back to being a little girl. I remember my dentists assistant always being so sweet and comforting. Lying in the chair I would think to myself, I want to be just like her, comforting and caring. Fast forward to a few decades later and here I am, comforting and caring for our patients, and striving to be as kind and sweet as she was to me.

Dr. Hunter is excellent. I was referred to her by my other dentist as she has more expertise in the jaw issues I am dealing with. Dr. Hunter has gone above and beyond. She takes time to explain things and she cares about her patients. She's also not afraid to admit when something is out of her expertise and refer you to a specialist (rather than trying to do the work herself so she can bill for it), but remains invested in your case. In fact, one of the specialists she referred me to commented on how Dr. Hunter has spent a lot of time talking to the specialist to create the best treatment plan. She is very thoughtful and truly wants the best for her patients and will put in extra effort to make sure they are successful.

I've known Dr Hunter for many years. I always come away with a good feeling! Dr Hunter is a professional who clearly demonstrates the breadth of her knowledge and puts you at ease. Marina (Dental Assistant) is helpful, comforting, and friendly. She knows her stuff, too! They work great together. The office is always clean and well organized for your visit. I highly recommend them.

My primary care physician referred me to Angela Hunter, DDS, an oral facial specialist. I first saw her on 10/28/2008 as I had severe face and bilateral TMD pain. Following a CBCT of my TM joints and an radiology report, she diagnosed severe degenerative joint disease of my bilateral temporomandibular joints (TMD), unstable bite, myofascial pain syndrome and capsulitis. Dr. Hunter's treatment has consisted of a maxillary hard acrylic splint which is designed to balance my bite and relieve joint loading. In the beginning, my ongoing joint resorption and pain caused my bite to open so rapidly that she had to add acrylic to the splint weekly to maintain my occlusal balance. For the past 10 years, Dr. Hunter's consistent monitoring treatment and splint therapy has provided momentous improvement. Occasionally, she helps me immensely by making new splints and/or tweaks my present splints to "absolute perfection." Dr. Hunter is professional, extremely knowledgeable, thorough, attentive and compassionate. She is in sync with all new procedures. She takes time to answer your concerns and I truly trust her advice. She has interpreted radiologists studies and even drawn diagrams in order that I could better understand their observations. If you desire phenomenal treatment, without any disappointments, contact Dr. Hunter for all your dental needs. Marina, her dental assistant and receptionist is personable, dependable and diligent in securing patients' insurance benefits. Dr. Hunter is the answer for your dental health!!!

My daughters and I have been going to Dr. Hunter for about 20 years. She has a state of the art practice. Her and her staff are friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly easy to work with. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend her. You won't be disappointed!

Just got back from having a crown put in by Dr. Hunter and I am so happy with her work! I agree with other reviews regarding her taking the time to really communicate with you, answer your questions and not rush you through the process. Her assistant Marina is excellent too and makes you very comfortable. They are a competent and friendly team and I would highly recommend them!

If your looking for a quiet, one on one quality experience with friendly staff, then this family dentist is the place for you. My family moved to Livermore back around 2010, with our dentist retiring we needed to look for a new dentist. We tried a few local clinics out here before we found Angela. She is great when it comes to telling you how it is without holding back information and is honest when it comes to recommendations about procedures if they are necessary. It is sad that we moved out of the area otherwise i would continue to stay with Angela's practice but i recommend her 10/10!

Dr Hunter is a wonderful dentist. She's very knowledgeable and takes time to make sure I understand everything. Her facility is gorgeous with amazing views of the mountains (useful distraction from having your mouth worked on). I feel like she's family!
