A key principle of COMTREAs mission and legacy is the pursuit of stable, healthy and equitable communities not only in Jefferson County but across Missouri. We firmly believe that all individuals are of infinite value and worthy of complete respect and equal opportunity. We are committed to continuing to work towards leading all Missourians to stability and providing access to needed resources, especially for communities that have long been treated inequitably. It is our sincere hope that the pain we feel now will be the spark of actions that honor the dignity of all Missourians individually, organizationally, and systemically.

Sue Curfman joined COMTREA as its second Chief Executive Officer in January 2016. Since becoming CEO, she has focused on increasing health care access and integration of services for the vulnerable populations of Jefferson County. She strives to be a servant leader, and is an advocate for community health and the patients they serve.

Curfman attended California State University Fullerton, where she earned a Bachelor and Master of Communication Disorders. Her initial entry into healthcare was as a Speech Pathologist in a hospital and private practice setting, and quickly transitioned into operational and administrative management. She has pursued additional training in Six Sigma with certifications in Case Management and Quality Management. Curfman serves on numerous boards and committees, including Missouri Primary Care Association (MPCA), Missouri Health Plus (MHP), Jefferson County Coalition to End Homelessness, and Pony Bird.

Curfman and her husband, Ken, have three children and eight grandchildren. Her hobbies include marathon running, art journaling, and card making. She has participated in more than 100 marathons and half-marathons, and loves the outdoors. One item on her bucket list was to backpack the Grand Canyon, which she did in 2014! She says I saw such beautiful sights and natural wonders. It was amazing.
