Dr. Shaw is a board-certified periodontist. He is a 1982 graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry. He completed his periodontal residency in 1995 at the Naval Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland and received a Master of Science degree from George Washington University, Washington DC.

Dr. Shaw served 23 years in the United States Navy and retired in 1996 with the rank of Captain. His service included two tours at sea and humanitarian missions in Madagascar and Dillingham, Alaska.Among his many accomplishments, he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal for his humanitarian service at a leper colony near Diego Suarez, Madagascar. While serving, he also conducted research in Dental Implantology and Guided Tissue Regeneration.

He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseo Integration, Midwest Society of Periodontology, Wisconsin Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, and Greater Milwaukee Dental Association and also The Dental Forum Study Club. He is also a past president of the Wisconsin Society of Periodontists and Assistant Clinical Adjunct Professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry.

Interest outside of dentistry includestravel, reading, scuba diving, running,baseball, and ballroom dancing with his lovely wife, Ivy. He enjoys spending time with his four wonderful children, Zach, Garrett, Amanda, and Jennifer, and his five grandchildren, Hanna, Camden, Gracie, Logan, and Madison. He is also a member of the American Legion and has several years coaching experience in Little League Baseball, taking two teams to a league Championship.

Dr. Shaw believes that patient education is paramount to excellent treatment. Patients will be welcomed by a friendly, caring staff that will treat them like family. We will work with fellow dental colleagues to help restore their patients teeth to health and function with always an eye towards the best esthetic result possible.

He has been teaching and doing research at Marquette University since that time and is the Undergraduate Program Director of Periodontics.A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Dentino has lectured nationally and internationally, and is a Reviewer for various dental and non-dental journals as well as an invited Reviewer for National Institutes of Health study section.He practices periodontics and implantology on a part-time basis in Wauwatosa and West Allis, WI.

Dr. Nancy Barton earned her Certificate in Periodontics in 1982 from the V.A. Hospital in Wood, Wisconsin. Of her many accomplishments, most notable is her selection as the first woman in Wisconsin to be selected to join the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international dental honor society, and the Dental Forum, the oldest dental study club in Wisconsin. In 1994, she bought the periodontal practice of Dr. John Kraak, and moved it to our present location near Mayfair Mall. Having served in numerous community and professional organizations, Dr. Barton quickly built a practice on the simple promise of treating patients with the caring and trust that they would expect from their referring dentist.

In 2001, Dr. Thomas Shaw joined the practice of Dr. Nancy Barton and in 2003 became a full partner in what was to be known as Barton & Shaw Periodontics, S.C. Dr. Barton retired from the practice in 2012, but her philosophy lives on. We treat our patients with respect and caring. We strive for excellence as shown by our commitment to have all our doctors Board Certified in their specialty.
