Dr. Andre Laprade received his B.S. from Providence College and his D.M.D. from Tufts University, graduating both with high honors. He completed his post graduate orthodontic training at Tufts University, graduating in 1990. Dr. Laprade is a member of the American Dental Assosiation, the New England Society of Orthodontists, as well as past President of both the Pawtucket Dental Association and the Rhode Island Association of Orthodontists.
Ourorthodonticteam is comprised of highly trained and skilled professionals who are licensed and certified. At our practice, we are committed to continuing education and learning. We regularly attend training classes, dental lectures, and dental conventions so we can offer the latest orthodontic techniques, procedures, products and equipment to our patients. If crowding exists, that means there isnt enough room in your mouth to accommodate all your teeth. They may overlap, rotate, or grow into the wrong spot or even become impacted. Spacing problems occur when there is too much space in your mouth, which can result from a large jaw or small teeth.
Braces that have metal brackets, bands, and wires securely attached to teeth throughout treatment is the traditional kind of braces. Small elastic bands hold the wire in place so that it can be used to gradually shift teeth as desired. Some patients, especially younger ones, enjoy choosing fun colors for the elastics to personalize their smiles. You must come into Laprade Orthodontics every 4 to 6 weeks for the wire to be adjusted so that progress continues. Treatment time varies, but typically lasts between 1 to 3 years. Traditional braces are especially effective for complicated issues that might not be handled as successfully with other methods. Also, these braces are cemented in your mouth so theres no losing them or not wearing them enough. Some discomfort is to be expected, usually only lasting a few days, when the wire is tightened and your teeth move into new positions. If traditional braces are best for you, follow these guidelines:
These are clear ceramic braces, which are nearly invisible in your smile and will not discolor or stain. Ovation C braces are comfortable and low maintenance. Many of our adult patients choose this option.
Adult patients especially love this alternative! Made of clear plastic, aligners are created from advanced images and impressions so that they fit each patient exactly. The customized aligners gradually move teeth into better positions. Aligners are worn for about three weeks and then switched to another set in the series. The entire process takes between 6 to 18 months according to patient conditions. Visits to Laprade Orthodontics are only needed every six weeks or so, and there are no uncomfortable adjustments. One of the most appealing things about aligners is that they are removeable for eating and cleaning, so there are no diet restrictions and no need to alter your normal dental hygiene routine. Aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day for best results.
After any kind of braces treatment, wearing a retainer is an important step in maintaining the results of treatment. Otherwise, your teeth will slowly move out of place. Two common types of retainers are used by Dr. Laprade:
Periodic maintenance is necessary with both types of retainers. Regular dental checkups and cleanings help with hygiene to ensure the best oral health. With proper retainer wear, you can enjoy your new smile forever.

I went to Dr Laprade when I was about 12-16 I think. Not only did he ignore my pleas of pain, he made the comment "your saliva is very juicy" which was creepy to tell a girl he was performing a service for. I just had an Invisalign appointment and apparently, he did a poor job of making room for my left canine tooth so now the entire left side of my upper teeth are pushed out. Head gear didn't work. My mother chose him because he was the cheapest she could find. Do not see him. He makes disgusting comments to little girls.

I came here when I was 15. The day I came in for the moldings my step father had accompanied me , he was not going to pay attention or care about my braces, so I was texting my mother the address of the dental office and was told I was being rude and to put my phone away. He was rude many times and made me feel so uncomfortable. I didn't want to ask any questions. He would get upset when I went ahead and began wearing my retainers at night only after the time he advised me. Laprade told me I shouldn't have done that before getting checked first (which he didn't explain). Not to mention he would scold me.. I felt as though I was getting in trouble. Fast forward six years and I have to pay for Invisalign because he never fixed my overbite which we discussed but clearly saw a child and a step dad who didn't care and thought he could get away with not fixing it. This was my experience

Don't go here. His service is awful. My daughter's braces were causing her MAJOR problems, and he didn't listen to her complaints. His reaction was to smile back at her, say that everything would be fine, and then he continued to adjust her teeth as HE saw fit, even if it meant TMJ problems. After my daughter got her braces off, she couldn't even close her mouth all the way to chew food!! Her teeth did not line up in order for her to close her mouth. He then proceeded to fit her with old fashioned plastic and wire retainers, which she couldn't wear. We complained on 3 separate occasions and asked for a better retainers. He again refused. We are now under the care of another orthodontist to fix what he screwed up. (Of course for more $$$). He's a few hundred dollars less than other orthodontists, but that's how he gets his business. Save yourself the heartache and go elsewhere. In the end, you won't save any money by going to him.
