A periodontist is a dentist who has received extensive training in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. They have advanced training in dental implants that can replace a missing tooth, teeth or secure loose dentures.

Periodontal (gum) disease attacks the soft tissue and bone that form the foundation of your teeth. It is the major cause of tooth loss in adults. Because this process is often painless, it may go unnoticed. This is why good daily oral hygiene and regular dental check ups are important.

The first step in periodontal treatment is a review of your medical and dental history. Although a buildup of bacterial irritants is a primary cause of gum disease, there are other factors that can have an impact on your dental health including smoking, diabetes, pregnancy, stress and heredity.

During your visit we will examine your mouth carefully to look for signs and causes of periodontal disease. The bone and tissuewill be studied with x-rays. With the information from the examination we will discuss your condition with you and recommend the most effective treatment plan and all cost associated with treatment.

Do not trust these people all they want is your money! Get a second and third opinion before going and then question every charge while there.
