Dr. Ed and his brother, Dr. Rob Amley, began practicing together in 1969. Their father, Dr. Arnold Amley, was a general dentist in St. Petersburg. Both Dr. Ed and Dr. Rob attended Northeast High School, Duke University, Emory University School of Dentistry, and received postgraduate training in orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
As active members of our community, Dr. Ed and his wife have served on the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Fine Arts.Dr. Ed now serves on the Board of Westminster Communities, Inc. Both he and his wife have taught local Bible Study Fellowship classes, continue to visit their granddaughter in NYC, and fit in rounds of golf in their free time.
Amley McEntire recommends the age of 7 as the best time to begin seeing an orthodontist. Your first visit with us is not synonymous with beginning orthodontic treatment. Our goal is to determine if any treatment will be needed and to time it appropriately.
Since we believe early treatment should be interceptive in nature and limited to several objectives, we typically like to begin comprehensive orthodontic treatment for all of our patients around the time most of the permanent teeth have erupted. We can determine this 'best' time for each patient when we have been able to monitor growth and development for several years.
Our approach has eliminated the need in most cases for extracting permanent teeth, for using palate expanders or headgears, and for doing two full phases of orthodontics. Research done at leading orthodontic programs at the University of Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania confirm our approach to confining orthodontic treatment to a single orthodontic treatment episode to accomplish the desired dento-facial changes for a dynamic lifetime smile.
Almost any adult at any age can benefit from orthodontic care. Today adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile, enhanced self-confidence, and improved dental health. Our practice is comprised of nearly 25% of patients over the age of 21. Some of our adults have been in their late 80's and early 90's. Although adult facial and dental bones are no longer growing, teeth can still be moved through healthy adult bone.
Adult orthodontic treatment can take a little longer and may have some limitations in the amount of correction achieved.Both the Damon Clear and Invisalign orthodontic systems are esthetically pleasing adult treatment methods.
Routinely, most orthodontic treatment takes 18 to 21 months to achieve optimal results. Many adults who have experienced a relapse of previous orthodontic treatment when retention was not on a lifetime basis can have corrections completed in 9-12 months. Every treatment time is an estimate by the orthodontist which greatly depends on patient cooperation.

This is an awesome office. I used them for adult orthodontics and transferred over an invisilign case. I was a bit agitated that my invisilign plan was taking significantly longer than expected with my last office and the team here worked with me to get to a great solution. The office has a team that's genuinely passionate about what they do, they treat a lot of children and just have incredible vibes throughout the entire office.

I got my braces off yesterday and I couldn't be happier with the results. They did an amazing job taking care of me. The staff was always nice and friendly. I'm glad to have my braces off but sad because the staff felt like a family. Thank you Amley-MCentire for giving me the beautiful smile. It's rare... & so refreshing... to find a great doctors office of any kind! We went to 4 different offices to compare prices & service. The thoughtfulness from the very first consultation, to the follow up we received after my son started his Invisalign treatment, was a completely different experience at Amley McEntire Orthodontics; particularly from when my daughter got braces at another Orthodontist. Of the 4 offices, Amley McEntire Orthodontics was the only office to follow up with us after the 1st consultation and after the start of my son's treatment. Their customer service really made an impression on me and obviously sets them apart from the others! Could not be more happy with our decision! I would definitely recommend!

I went to Amley McEntire as an adult who never had braces as a kid but always wanted/needed them. I was so pleased that Dr Amley & Dr McEntire considered me a good candidate for Invisalign and decided to move forward. Every single visit or encounter I had with their team was amazing. From scheduling appointments to check ups, I always felt welcomed and listened to. It truly felt like the doctors and staff created a relationship with every patient and were dedicated to giving them their best smile. Fast forward to becoming a "graduated" patient, I would highly recommend AMO to anyone considering braces - whether traditional or Invisalign. I can honestly say the experience exceeded my expectations and I am so happy with my new smile!

I went in to see Dr. Mc for an initial adult Ortho consult and could not be happier with today's appointment! Dr. Mc was was very kind, a great listener and really cared about my wants and needs. Thank you Dr. Mc! His staff was the best too! I first met with Becca the clinic coordinator who took X-rays, pictures and created my Ortho plan. Becca was so sweet, fast and efficient! We went over the treatment plan, financial options and she even fit me into the schedule same day for clear braces! The whole process was effortless! Kayla prepared me for treatment... she really made me feel at ease, there was no pain, bad taste or discomfort what so ever. I am very thankful Strupp + Brum referred me to Amley-McEntire Orthodontics I had an A+ visit, I'm in braces and my teeth are already feeling great! I had braces as a kid, about 25 years ago, but my middle teeth in the top and bottom shifted over time. It always bothered me, but I never really intended to do anything about it. Before my wedding, I was complaining about it to my dentist and she encouraged me to go for consult with Dr. McEntire to see what my options would be. Honestly, I didn't know it mattered that much to me until I cried in his office. He couldn't have been more understanding and thought of creative options for the short- and long-term. Invisalign was the right answer for me, and I'm so happy with the results. Kate is the BEST!

I'm not a sugar coater so I'm just going to be totally transparent if somebody likes it or not lol. One of the staff members their was always somewhat annoyed or had some sort of unpleasant demeanor towards me whenever I scheduled an appointment and I couldn't figure out why. When I finally brought it up with her, she was highly dismissive of my concerns, and her unprofessional behavior towards me, which I did not like and made it seem if "it was all in my head" - like srs? That's really unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. Furthermore, Dr. Amley always seemed in a rush, whenever I asked him questions, never really bothering to show any genuine interest for the legitimate questions I had throughout my treatment which was... upsetting to say the least lol. I mean, the end result was what I wanted, but that type of behavior from a Doctor and staff member at an Orthodontist's office just didn't sit well with me.

Dr. McEntire and the entire staff have been absolutely wonderful during the course of my Invisalign treatment! They are great about explaining every step and making me feel comfortable every time I go in. I'm an adult, allegedly, but they always have a bunch of kids getting treatment and they all seem happy to be there. That by itself is a huge accomplishment considering kids usually aren't thrilled about dental and orthodontic care. Highly recommend!

Dr. McEntire is intelligent, kind, and good at his job. I'd had bad experiences with other orthodontists before making my first appointment with Dr. McEntire. If I could give this place 10 STARS I WOULD! First of all, I got braces from this office in 2007-2008ish so now being in my 20s my teeth have shifted. I called their office and asked if I could have a consultation since I was a previous patient. I went to their Tampa location and met Dr. McEntire for the first time. He is a polite outstanding man! Needless to say they took care of me and put me on an affordable plan for braces second time around. Also I literally LOVE the staff <3 They are so welcoming and accommodating to whatever you need! If you are hesitating what orthodontist to pick, please look no further. Also... I never write reviews so this should tell you something!!

I have been going to Amley and McEntire Orthodontics for a few years now! My orthodontic journey has been an interesting one, as I am pretty peculiar case. Dr. McEntire does a great job explaining my treatment to me and I always feel very well taken care of. Judy, Kayla, and all of the other ladies are super sweet and personable! You will not find a better team than the team at Amley and McEntire!

The clear retainer I purchased in 2020 was such poor quality that I am now having to purchase a new one. (1 year later) I understand it was during Covid 19, but office didn't even make sure they fit properly. When I complained several months later, Dr stated I would have to pay full price for new pair. Since retainer edge cuts into my gums, I must now purchase a new pair from my NEW orthodontist who agreed cut was terrible. Never agian returning to Amley McEntire for any reason!! This office doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction. Be prepared to pay even if what you receive is poor quality. I paid $400 for trash retainers.

I used to be a patient when I was a teenager for braces, and it was great. However, fast forward decades later. I still have the wire retainer, and after years of wear and tear (which is normal), the glue on the back of one of my tooth that secured the wire retainer started loosening. So I came back to re-adhere the glue on ONE tooth, it cost me around $180ish dollars. Pricey? Yeah. The part I'm mad about is that during the visit the doctor was working on my tooth, but also doing paperwork and signing stuff. Which I was a little put off by, but whatever. The worst part is that not even a week or 2 later. The new glue just popped off and now the same tooth and wire retainer is exposed and not secured. I don't know if they didn't clean the area so that the new glue would adhere better or they just didn't care. I'm only reminded of this event because my sister said she's going to get hers fixed soon. And I was too busy with work to go complain and come back.
