As I progressed through my engineering training, I could see that it was not taking me toward my career goals.Although Ienjoyed the problem-solving aspects, Iwanted something more hands-on and to servepeople directly. I wanted a profession that would help others feel better about themselves and improve their health.
Having grown up working in and being around my fathers orthodontic practice, and having braces myself (more than once!) it started to dawn on me that maybe, just maybe, following in my dad's footsteps wasn't such a bad thing!Once I decided on making my career change, it was easy to see how providing orthodontic care would help me meet my life goals of problem solving and serving others.
I believe that being an orthodontist is the greatest career in the world. Every day I get to create a little bit of joy. I do this by completing a brand new smile, encouraging others to reach their potential, or helping someone in need.
I am a believer in patient-centered care. Orthodontic treatment means something different to each person, just like each persons orthodontic concerns and treatment needs will be different.I make it a point to get to know my patients as individual people and providethe optimal amount of care for them. I dont believe in one-size-fits-all treatment plans. I strive to find the perfect solution for each person.
Our team keeps a positive outlook with everything that we do, because even though creating a fantastic smile takes time, we always know we will get there! There is nothing more satisfying than being a part of a patients reaction when he or shefirst sees thatincredible new smile and perfect bite.
I grew up in northwest Indiana near Chicago. I met my wife Kathy at the Purdue Ballroom Dance Club while I was doing my undergrad in Mechanical Engineering. I asked her to dance, she said yes, and now we havefive wonderful daughters (yes, that is a lot of girly-girl stuff!). I cherish my time with them and enjoy watching them grow. Kathy and I have continued to dance, although now you will most often find us teaching and performing swing dancing. I also love to travel and try new and interesting foods.
I believe it is important to support the community. We support Brownsburg and Crawfordsville School Corporations, community sports programs, community theater, animal shelters, and womens shelters. I am also a member of Rotary Club, a service organization dedicated to making the community and our world a better place.
I graduated from Purdue University with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. I continued on to graduate with honors in 2002 from Indiana University School of Dentistry. In 2004, I completed my specialty training inthe orthodontic residency of Indiana University and also received a Master of Science in dentistry.
So now that you know a little about me and our practice, I look forward to getting to know you and your family! I love being an orthodontist and part of our community. I know that a beautiful smile is important fornot only your health, but also gives a boost in self confidence. It isa team effort and one that I would be honored to share with you.
I just love being part of the orthodontic field! I met Dr. Altschul when we came in for a complimentary exam for my oldest son. Shortly after I received the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Altschul and his team of professionals. I couldn't thank him enough for the opportunity and for helping my son achieve the smile he deserves!
My husband and I have 3 outgoing children! We love to be outside as much as we can. We enjoy camping, canoe/kayaking, and fishing. I also enjoy photography, hanging out with my friends, attending Bible study, and napping in my spare time.
I am grateful to work with a team that provides such a professional, fun, and friendly atmosphere where our patients come first. You never have to search hard for a friendly smile or face in our office! I love getting to meet all of our new patients and help them start their journey toward a beautiful and healthy smile. I am the first one you will see at your initial visit, and I will go over the treatment plan Dr. Altschul has customized for you and guide you to get your treatment started. We serve incredible patients and I enjoy seeing how the care we deliver improves their lives.
I was born and raised in Crawfordsville. My true love is traveling, whether domestic or abroad, and experiencing new adventures. When I'm not working you can find me spending time with friends and family, watching soccer, kayaking, or planning my next trip.
I work behind the scenes at Altschul Orthodontics, so I dont get to see many of our patients at the office. But when I see our patients out in the community, I do get to hear their complimentsabout our practice, Dr. Altschul and our team, and the wonderful smiles we create!
I have the honor to delivering care packages to our Brownsburg Partners: schools, dentists, and patients. Its a lot of fun to bring a smile to people. I order supplies, talk with vendors, and make sure the staff is taken care of so they can concentrate on whats important: our patients happiness and their smiles.
Dr. Altschul and I have been married since 2000. We have five wonderful daughters. We recently adopted a gerbil, but dont worry, the girls made sure it is a female, so their Dad would remain King of the House!I love to go swing dancing with Aaron, as well as trying new ethnic restaurants; Ethiopian food is my current favorite. Im active in the Moms Group at St. Malachy, and Aaron and I lead numerous Financial Peace University classes there.
I'm so excited to see the changing smiles and progress for all of our patients! I was even a patient of Dr. Altschul as a teenager! Dr. Altschul and our team really enjoy getting to know our patients and like to make the office friendly and fun. Our biggest goal is to make beautiful smiles that are full of confidence! My part in the process consists of assisting during procedures, taking patient records, doing intraoral scans, and helping in the lab.
I love working in the Orthodontics field and watching a patients' confidence rise as their treatment progresses. I have worked in the dental field since 2012, and I am happy to have found a home at Altschul Orthodontics. Seeing a patient happy with their new smile is my favorite part of the job.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite activities include camping, boating, hiking, fishing, and traveling. I also enjoy spending time with my son and my Boston Terrier named Hank.
Having worked in orthodontics for over 30 years, I have a natural enthusiasm for this field. I enjoy the process from beginning to end! When I moved back home to Indiana after 30 years in Michigan, I was thrilled to join such a hard-working team of professionals at Dr. Altschul's office. We are dedicated to serving our patients and the community, and show a special compassion toward our patients. We operate in a fun, light-hearted manner. I am in charge of keeping all the instruments and equipment sterilized and disinfected. When working in the lab, I pour and trim our plaster models. I also fabricate retainers and manage the shipping and receiving of orthodontic appliances. You will also find me assisting the clinical staff with x-rays and intraoral scans.
I have been married to Steve for over 36 years. We have a son and daughter, and also our Golden retriever, Layla. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, fitness, and outdoor activities like hiking and traveling. Most of all, I love to spend time with family and friends.
Dr. Aaron Altschul understands that your smile is unique. He believes youdeserve an orthodontic experience tailored to your clinical needs and personal goals. By listening to you, and asking the right questions, hes able to develop a plan thats the perfect solution foryour smile dreams.
Along with our Altschul Orthodontics team members, Dr. Altschul will support, encourage, and educate you at every step of your treatment. We want you not only to attain a lasting, beautiful smile, but to love the journey, too!
As they see their teeth begin to shift into proper position, their excitement begins to build. Each becomes more social and outgoing, engaging with other patients and our team. They walk with greater confidence, make eye-contact, and best of all they start smiling and laughing with ease.
Of course, orthodontic treatment isnt just about new smiles and an increase in your self-esteem and confidence. Having straight teeth means easier brushing and flossing, which decreases the likelihood of future dental disease. Properly aligned teeth also offer a functional, correct bite that decreases stress on the jaw and facial and neck muscles. Treatment allows you to chew your food fully and comfortably, and that leadsto a healthier body, as well.
You might think orthodontic care is only available for children and teens. Though you probably havenoticed metal braces on younger patients, the fact is that many adults and even seniors are undergoing treatment. Its just that theyre doing so using methods that are virtually undetectable!
We believe that, before committing to orthodontic treatment, you should know the care options available. Its just as important for you to find a practice where you feel welcomed and at home, and where youll receive care delivered by people you trust.
