Altitude Oral and Facial Surgery - General dentist in Denver, CO

When it comes to finding a Denver oral surgeon you can trust, many patients simply rely on their general dentists to provide a referral. This is an excellent option and good oral surgeons receive the majority of their patients through referrals. However, its important that you understand the oral surgeon your dentist refers you to is just one of your many options.

At Altitude Oral Maxillofacial Implant Center, you are working with proven, highly-skilled surgeons. Were honored to receive so many referrals from so many talented dentists. We take that hand off as a huge token of trust and we work diligently to ensure every patient receives world-class care.

Dr. Fangman achieved both his undergraduate degree and his doctorate from Ohio State University before going on to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY. Today, he has been working in this challenging and rewarding field for seven years so far. He enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular interest in dental implant surgery, wisdom tooth removal, treating facial trauma, reconstructive surgery, and cleft lip/palate surgery. He is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Colorado State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Metro Denver Dental Society, and the American Association of Dental Anesthesiology.

What Dr. Fangman enjoys most about his job is being able to make an uncomfortable situation pleasant and fulfilling for patients in need! Today, he and his wife Lilian have twin sons. In his spare time, the doctor enjoys cycling with his family. He is also fluent in Spanish and regularly volunteers both here in Denver and on mission trips to other countries in order to provide cleft lip and palate surgery to young patients in need.

Dr. Ivey enjoys all aspects of oral surgery but has particular interests in facial trauma, nutrition, and whole health approaches to surgery, bone grafting, and regenerative medicine within dentistry. He enjoys fly fishing, skiing, and college sports. You will often see him in the clinic wearing Jordan basketball shoes, which he says are great for standing long hours but we really know its for his college team.

Dr. Ivey grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. He attended undergraduate college and dental school at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, becoming an avid UNC fan over the course of the decade, completing his doctorate of dental surgery. He later moved to Texas and attended Texas Tech for Medical School where he earned his MD. While in medical school, he worked full time as a general dentist in Lubbock, Texas (while simultaneously enrolled in medical school) for 2 years and values this insight into his peers and the field of dentistry.

After Medical School, Dr. Ivey completed a residency internship in General Surgery and Trauma at JPS Fort Worth and Baylor Hospital. This was a unique experience providing insight and knowledge into total health, medicine, and complex medical patients and issues as well as life-threatening injuries and disease. His anesthesiology training was completed at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Returning to dentistry and oral surgery, Dr. Ivey attended Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and the Texas A&M College of Dentistry for OMFS training. Here, he trained in facial trauma, reconstructive jaw surgeries, TMJ, and the full scope of dental surgery. He is a published author in implant dentistry, and also served as an editor for an Internal Medicine textbook for medical students. In Denver, he is a member of the Colorado Dental Associate, Metro Denver Dental Society, the ADA, AAOMS, and the Colorado Association of Oral Surgery.

I am so grateful to Dr. Fangman, Lilly and the staff at Altitude Oral and Facial Surgery. I needed to be seen quickly due to an existing health issue, and Dr. Fangman adjusted his schedule so that I could be seen immediately. Not only did Dr Fangman have an immediate consult with me, but I was treated the same day so that I could move forward with my cancer treatment. The dental care I was given was excellent. And, most importantly, I was treated with such kindness and warmth. It was evident that Dr. Fangman and his lovely staff truly care about their patients. If you are in need of oral/facial surgery, you will be well cared for by Dr. Fangman and his wonderful staff. I am so appreciative that I was referred to Dr. Fangman. What a professional and compassionate person he is.

I was referred to Altitude Oral Surgery by my regular dentist for a tooth extraction that I needed ASAP from a tooth infection that developed suddenly. Altitude got me in the very next day, which I was very grateful for because I was in so much pain. The tooth extraction happened in March (along with a dental tori removal in June) and the process to get a dental implant is a months-long one with several appointments, so you really get to know the oral surgeon and staff! It is now October and I just finished my last oral surgery appointment for the implant. I'm very pleased with the service provided by Dr. Austin Ivey for this procedure. From the very start, he took his time to explain what would happen and even educated me on other interesting and helpful things about my facial structure, jaw, and teeth that I didn't know about. Dr. Ivey definitely knows his stuff and was very good about coming up with alternative solutions to give me the best outcome for my dental implant. Dr. Ivey was also very reassuring and confident (without being overly arrogant) during every procedure, which helped ease my anxiety. The office staff are very friendly and always worked with my insurance to provide me accurate quotes of the cost, and always accommodated me for a last minute appointment if I was concerned about stitches/after-care and needed a quick follow-up. Thank you Altitude team!

Awesome experience! I had a stone removed from a salivary gland. Dr. Ivey shot me straight from the beginning, laid out my options and took the time to answer all my questions. They did the procedure in office, same day, no trips to the hospital and it healed exactly like he said it would. The staff was pleasant and personable, great friendly vibe in the office. Can't beat having your Dr. in Nike high tops.

I went to this office to get my wisdom teeth out and I had a great experience. The first consultation was super fast and they explained everything perfectly and ran me through many different options. The procedure was even easier. I was barely in any pain afterwards due to the pain-reducing options they offer and I had little to no swelling as well. I definitely recommend coming here to get your wisdom teeth removed. The price was very reasonable with my insurance and it was also way cheaper than the first oral surgery office I had a consultation from.

The team here did a wonderful job explaining the entire procedure and answering all of my questions before and after surgery. I'd not had any major dental work done previously but Dr. Ivey talked through everything with me to make sure I was relaxed before getting started. I hope to never need more work done but if I do, Dr. Ivey will be my first call.

I saw Dr. Ivey for a second opinion on wisdom teeth. I went to another office my dentist referred me to, and with insurance it was still going to be about a thousand dollars out of pocket. Dr. Ivey came in and pointed out things on my xray, spoke through the whole surgery and talked about what to expect, and even went over the option of leaving them in. The other office literally played a YouTube and the doctor was on my room for maybe a minute. They also wanted to bone graft all 3, and Dr. Ivey said that wasn't necessary, and what was what wasn't covered by my insurance. He gave me options of doing stem cells from my blood into the sockets and a pain medicine injection called exparel for an additional 300 (still way less than the other office). I would highly recommend this office. It's small and personal, and I didn't feel like I was in a machine.

Had a consultation on removing my wisdom teeth and they made me an appointment a week from that to have my bottom two wisdom teeth removed. Seemed to heal faster than my top wisdom teeth did years ago. Good experience, would recommend for anyone needing their wisdom teeth removed.

We were referred to Altitude by a friend and we were extremely pleased with the office staff and Dr. Ivey. They were kind, willing to help with tough scheduling, provided timely and accurate information, and showed true expertise in their field. Dr. Ivey provides a high quality of care and is actively engaged in the well being of his patients. I would recommend this practice to anyone for any (unfortunate) OFS needs.

This dental office is awful. Extremely bad service. They were very rude and told me unless I gave them my card information to put on file, I won't be getting any service. I called back today, receptionist yelled and hang up. I called back, they hang up again. Update: The "property damage" is not their property. It is the paperwork that I signed, with my information and signature on it. Because after they told me I cannot be seen unless I gave them my bank card information, I asked for those papers that I signed back, since I won't be getting the service and this woman receptionist said she will shred it, and I wanted to shred them myself and I did, because no treatment was received. The paperwork was never "grabbed" from anyones hands, it was given to me to read and sign. I never said I don't want to be seen by "woman" dentist, I only said that I had a bad experience with my previous dentist who is a female dentist and shared my previous experience that brought me to their office with pain. This office on 1440 doesn't even have a "woman" dentist. So I'm not even sure what this person is trying to say. Then this dentist also said that I called him to be "too young"?? I've never said anything about his age, I only asked the receptionist how many years of experience this dentist has and then this dentist says that I called him "too young". The man is at lest 45 years old, why would anyone call him young or not young, that's not my business how old he is and I don'teven care. I came with pain, they refused to serve me unless I gave them payment information to put on file. And then just looking for any excuse to blame you. I don't understand how someone like this who is twisting things and turning his own fault and trying to blame others for their own problems. Instead they should take advantage of a feedback and improve. I had a really weird experience here but it doesn't end there, today I went to a different dental offuce and they wanted to take xrays and I said I already have xrays at this office and called this altitude oral surgery office and the dentist himself came to the phone and srarted yelling and threatening me, he said: "if you don't remove the review you've posted online, I will press charges against you, I will sue you, I've got my lawyer and I will sue you"!!!!!!!!! Oh my God, I have never heard or seen of a medical professional to behave this way in my entire life! If their dentist is acting this way, not much to expect from the rest of the staff. I am only happy that I walked out of this office without getting any service, even thoughI was in pain. God works in a mysterious ways, this was him getting me to get out of this office.

Scheduled an apoointment 3 weeks in advance just to show up on the scheduled day and be sent away because during that same 3 weeks leading up to my appointment, the staff was unable to perform their basic job responsibilities, such as getting a patients insurance cleared so no issues would arise on the day of the appointment. But, no. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks for the next appointment, after sitting in the waiting area for nearly 2 hours after my scheduled time. Horrible service. Horrible staff. Horrible office decor.

I can't say thank you enough to Dr.Ivey and his team. I had one molar and two wisdom teeth taken yesterday smoothly. The entire staff was warm and walked me through each process professionally. I've had serious anxiety around dental work and some bad work done previously. Altitude has helped set me up for success with the way this procedure was accomplished and gave recommendations to continue my journey with dentists and ortho. I highly recommend the stem cell treatment. On day 2 and Im going to heal fast and the pain is as manageable as it can be. Dr. Ivey did a blood draw and IV with not a needle mark to be found! He's also a wonderful story teller and gets a good giggle out of you as you fall into slumber. I am so thankful for you all and highly recommended your services!

This office was so helpful! The receptionist listened patiently to understand why I needed to be seen, then booked me within the week. This was important since there was the possibility of a cancer diagnosis. Dr Ivey was so understanding and made me feel better immediately. He did a quick scan, an exam, and reassured me that I could follow up in 6 months for this and there could be several other reasons for my X-ray image, but cancer is not a concern at this time. Really nice staff, prompt and compassionate! Highly recommend them!
